1 A nd Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2 C an a man be profitable to God? surely it is unto himself that the wise man is profitable.

Може ли човек да бъде полезен Богу? Ако разумен може да бъде полезен на себе си.

3 I s it any pleasure to the Almighty if thou art righteous? And is it gain that thou makest thy ways perfect?

Ако си ти праведен, Всемогъщият има ли за какво да се радва? Или ползува ли се Той ако правиш пътищата си непорочни?

4 W ill he reason with thee for fear of thee? Will he enter with thee into judgment?

Поради твоя ли страх <от Него> Той те изобличава, И влиза в съд с тебе?

5 I s not thy wickedness great? and thine iniquities without end?

Нечестието ти не е ли голямо? И беззаконията ти не са ли безкрайни?

6 F or thou hast taken a pledge of thy brother for nought, and stripped off the clothing of the naked.

Защото без причина си взел залог от брата си, И си лишил голите от дрехите им.

7 T hou hast not given water to the fainting to drink, and thou hast withholden bread from the hungry.

Не си напоил с вода уморения, И си задържал хляб от гладния.

8 B ut the powerful man, he had the land; and the man of high rank dwelt in it.

А който беше як, той придобиваше земята; И който беше почитан, той се заселваше в нея.

9 W idows hast thou sent empty away, and the arms of the fatherless have been broken.

Вдовици си отпратил празни, И мишците на сирачетата си строшил.

10 T herefore snares are round about thee, and sudden fear troubleth thee;

За това примки те обикалят, И страх внезапен те ужасява,

11 O r darkness, that thou canst not see, and floods of waters cover thee.

Или тъмнина, та не виждаш, И множество води те покрива.

12 I s not +God in the height of the heavens? And behold the summit of the stars: how exalted are they!

Бог не е ли на небесните висоти? Сега гледай височината на звездите, колко са на високо!

13 A nd thou sayest, What doth God know? will he judge through the dark cloud?

А ти казваш: Где ще знае Бог? През мрака ли може да съди?

14 T hick clouds are a covering to him, that he seeth not; and he walketh on the vault of the heavens.

Облаци Го покриват, та не вижда; И ходи по свода небесен,

15 D ost thou mark the ancient path which wicked men have trodden?

Забележил ли си ти стария път, По който са ходили беззаконниците? -

16 W ho were carried off before the time, whose foundation was overflowed with a flood;

Тия, които преждевременно бидоха грабнати, И чиято основа порой завлече, -

17 W ho said unto God, Depart from us! and what could the Almighty do to them?

Които рекоха Богу: Отдалечи се от нас, И - какво може Всемогъщият да стори за нас? -

18 Y et he filled their houses with good. But the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

При все, че Той напълни с блага домовете им. Но далеч да бъде от мене мъдруването на нечестивите!

19 T he righteous see it, and are glad; and the innocent laugh them to scorn:

Праведните гледат и се радват; И невинните им се присмиват, <като казват:>

20 I s not he who rose against us destroyed, and doth not the fire consume his residue?

Не бяха ли погубени въстаналите против нас. И огън погълна останалите от тях?

21 R econcile thyself now with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

Сприятели се сега с Него и бъди в мир; От това ще дойде добро за тебе.

22 R eceive, I pray thee, instruction from his mouth, and lay up his words in thy heart.

Приеми, прочее, закона от устата Му, И съхрани думите Му в сърцето си.

23 I f thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up. If thou remove unrighteousness far from thy tents,

Ако се върнеш към Всемогъщия, пак ще бъдеш утвърден; Отдалечи, прочее, беззаконието от шатрите си,

24 A nd put the precious ore with the dust, and Ophir among the stones of the torrents,

Хвърли {Еврейски: Тури.} злото <си> в пръстта, И офирското <злато> между камъните на потоците;

25 T hen the Almighty will be thy precious ore, and silver heaped up unto thee;

И Всемогъщият ще ти бъде злато, И изобилие от сребро за тебе.

26 Y ea, then shalt thou delight thyself in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto +God:

Защото тогава ще се веселиш във Всемогъщия, И ще въздигаш лицето си към Бога.

27 T hou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he will hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows;

Ще Му се помолиш, и Той ще те послуша; И ще изпълни обреците Си.

28 A nd thou shalt decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee; and light shall shine upon thy ways.

И каквото решение направиш, ще ти бъде потвърдено; И светлина ще сияе по пътищата ти.

29 W hen they are made low, then thou shalt say, Rise up! and he shall save him that is of downcast eyes.

Когато <те> унижат, Тогава ще речеш: Има въздигане! И Той ще спаси онзи, който има смирен поглед.

30 h im that is not innocent shall he deliver; yea, he shall be delivered by the pureness of thy hands.

<Даже> онзи, който не е невинен, ще избави; Да! с чистотата на твоите ръце ще бъде избавен.
