1 A nd Ahithophel said to Absalom, Let me, I pray, choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David to-night;

Ахитофел каза още на Авесалома: Да избера сега дванадесет хиляди мъже, и да стана да преследвам Давида още тая нощ.

2 a nd I will come upon him while he is weary and weak-handed, and will make him afraid; and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only;

Ще налетя върху него като е уморен и ръцете му ослабнали, и ще го уплаша; и всичките люде, що са с него, ще побягнат, и ще поразя само царя.

3 a nd I will bring back all the people to thee. The man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: all the people shall be in peace.

Така ще възвърна всичките люде към тебе, защото <убиването на> мъжа, когото ти търсиш, значи възвръщането на всичките; всичките люде ще се помирят.

4 A nd the saying was right in the eyes of Absalom, and in the eyes of all the elders of Israel.

И тая дума бе угодна на Авесалома и на всичките Израилеви старейшини.

5 A nd Absalom said, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and we will hear also what he says.

Тогава рече Авесалом: Повикай сега и архиеца Хусай, и нека чуем какво ще каже и той.

6 A nd Hushai came to Absalom, and Absalom spoke to him saying, Ahithophel has spoken after this manner: shall we carry out his word? If not, speak thou.

И когато Хусай влезе при Авесалома, Авесалом му говори, казвайки: Така е говорил Ахитофел. Да постъпим ли <според> неговия съвет? ако не, говори ти.

7 A nd Hushai said to Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel has given this time is not good.

И Хусай каза на Авесалома: Не е добър съветът, който Ахитофел даде тоя път.

8 A nd Hushai said, Thou knowest thy father and his men, that they are mighty men, and they are of exasperated spirit, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field; and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.

Хусай рече още: Ти знаеш баща си и неговите мъже, че са силни мъже, и че са преогорчени в душа, както мечка лишена от малките си в полето; и баща ти, като военен мъж, няма да пренощува с людете;

9 B ehold, he is hid now in some pit, or some such place; and it will come to pass, when some of them fall at the first, whoever heareth it will say, There has been slaughter among the people that follow Absalom,

ето, сега е скрит в някой трап или в някое <друго> място, и когато нападне някой от тия <твои люде> в началото <на сражението>, всеки, който чуе ще рече: Поражение става между людете, които следват Авесалома.

10 a nd even the valiant man whose heart is as the heart of a lion shall utterly melt; for all Israel knows that thy father is a mighty man, and they that are with him are valiant men.

Тогава даже юначният, чието сърце е като лъвско сърце, съвсем ще примре; защото целият Израил знаеше, че баща ти е юнак, и че ония, които са с него, са храбри мъже.

11 B ut I counsel that all Israel be speedily gathered to thee, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.

Аз съветвам, по-добре, да се събере при тебе целият Израил, от Дан до Вирсавее, по множество както пясъка край морето, и ти лично да идеш в боя.

12 A nd we shall come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falls on the ground; and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.

Така ще налетим върху него в някое място, където се намери, и ще го нападнем, както пада росата на земята, тъй щото от него и от всичките човеци, които са с него, няма да оставим ни един.

13 A nd if he withdraw into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the torrent, until there be not one small stone found there.

Или, ако прибегне в някой град, тогава целият Израил ще донесе до оня град въжета, та ще го завлечем до потока, тъй щото да не остане там ни едно камъче.

14 A nd Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. And Jehovah had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, in order that Jehovah might bring evil upon Absalom.

Тогава Авесалом и всичките Израилеви мъже казаха: Съветът на архиеца Хусай е по-добър от съвета на Ахитофела. (Защото Господ беше рекъл да осуети добрия Ахитофелов съвет, за да нанесе Господ зло на Авесалома).

15 A nd Hushai said to Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.

Тогава Хусай каза на свещениците Садока и Авиатара: Така и така съветва Ахитофел Авесалома и Израилевите старейшини; а така и така съветвах аз.

16 A nd now send quickly, and tell David saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.

Сега, прочее, пратете скоро да известят на Давида, казвайки: Не оставай тая нощ при бродовете в пустинята, но непременно да преминеш <Иордан>, за да не погинат царят и всичките люде, които са с него.

17 A nd Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by En-rogel; and the maid went and told them; and they went and told king David, for they might not be seen to come into the city.

А Иоанатан и Ахимаас стояха при извора Рогил, защото не смееха да влизат явно в града; затова, една слугиня отиде да им извести това, и те отидоха та известиха на цар Давида.

18 B ut a lad saw them, and told Absalom. Then they went both of them away quickly, and came to the house of a man at Bahurim, who had a well in his court; and they went down there.

А един момък ги видя и обади на Авесалома; но двамата отидоха бърже та влязоха в къщата на един човек във Ваурим, който имаше кладенец в двора си, и спуснаха се в него.

19 A nd the woman took and spread the covering over the well's mouth, and spread ground corn on it; and the thing was not known.

И жена <му> взе една покривка та я простря върху отвора на кладенеца, и насипа върху нея чукано жито, така щото нищо не се позна.

20 A nd Absalom's servants came to the woman to the house, and said, Where are Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said to them, They have gone over the brook of water. And they sought and could not find, and returned to Jerusalem.

И когато Авесаломовите слуги дойдоха при жената в къщата и казаха: Где са Ахимаас и Ионатан? Жената им рече: Преминаха водния поток. И те ги потърсиха, но като не ги намериха, върнаха се в Ерусалим.

21 A nd it came to pass after they had departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David; and they said to David, Arise and pass quickly over the water; for thus has Ahithophel counselled against you.

А след заминаването им, ония излязоха от кладенеца и отидоха та известиха на цар Давида. Рекоха на Давида: Станете преминете скоро водата, защото Ахитофел така съветва против вас.

22 T hen David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over the Jordan; by the morning light there was not one of them missing that had not gone over the Jordan.

Тогава Давид и всичките люде, що бяха с него, станаха та преминаха Иордан; до зори не остана ни един, който не беше преминал Иордан.

23 A nd when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose and went to his house, to his city, and gave charge to his household, and hanged himself, and he died; and he was buried in the sepulchre of his father.

А Ахитофел, като видя, че съветът му не се възприе, оседла осела си и стана та отиде у дома си, в своя град; и като нареди домашните си работи, обеси се. Така умря; и погребан бе в бащиния си гроб.

24 A nd David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over the Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.

Тогава Давид дойде в Механаим; а Авесалом премина Иордан, той и всичките Израилеви мъже с него.

25 A nd Absalom set Amasa over the host instead of Joab; which Amasa was the son of a man whose name was Jithra the Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah, Joab's mother.

И Авесалом постави Амаса за военачалник вместо Иоава. (А Амаса бе син на един човек на име Итра, израилтянин {В 1 Лет. 2: 17, Исмаилянин.}, който беше влязъл при Авигея Наасовата дъщеря, сестра на Саруия Иоавовата майка).

26 A nd Israel and Absalom encamped in the land of Gilead.

И Израил и Авесалом разположиха стана си в галаадската земя.

27 A nd as soon as David came to Mahanaim, Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lo-debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,

А когато дойде Давид в Маханаим, Совей Наасовият син, от Рава на амонците, и Махир Амииловият син, от Ло-девар, и галаадецът Верзелай, от Рогелим,

28 b rought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched, and beans, and lentils, and parched,

донесоха постелки, легени и пръстени съдове, жито, ечемик, брашно, пържено жито, боб, леща и <други> печени храни,

29 a nd honey, and cream, and sheep, and cheese of kine to David, and to the people that were with him, to eat; for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty in the wilderness.

мед, масло, овци и говеждо сирене на Давида и на людете с него за да ядат; защото рекоха: Людете са гладни и изнемощели и жадни в пустинята.
