1 A nd Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

2 W ho is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

Кой е тогава този, който помрачава <Моя> съвет С неразумни думи?

3 G ird up now thy loins like a man; and I will demand of thee, and inform thou me.

Опаши сега кръста си като мъж, И ще те попитам; и ти ми изявявай.

4 W here wast thou when I founded the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding.

Где беше ти, когато основах земята? Извести, ако си разумен:

5 W ho set the measures thereof—if thou knowest? or who stretched a line upon it?

Кой определи мерките й? (ако знаеш) Или кой тегли връв <за мерене> по нея?

6 W hereupon were the foundations thereof sunken? or who laid its corner-stone,

На какво се вдълбочиха основите й? Или кой положи краеъгълния й камък,

7 W hen the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Когато звездите на зората пееха заедно, И всичките Божии синове възклицаваха от радост?

8 A nd who shut up the sea with doors, when it burst forth, issuing out of the womb?

Или <кой> затвори морето с врати, Когато се устреми та излезе из матка,

9 W hen I made the cloud its garment, and thick darkness a swaddling band for it;

Когато го облякох с облак И го пових с мъгла,

10 W hen I cut out for it my boundary, and set bars and doors,

И поставих му граница от Мене, Турих лостове и врати,

11 A nd said, Hitherto shalt thou come and no further, and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?

И рекох: До тук ще дохождаш, но не по-нататък, И тук ще се спират гордите ти вълни?

12 H ast thou since thy days commanded the morning? hast thou caused the dawn to know its place,

Откак <започнаха> дните ти заповядал ли си ти на утрото И показал на зората мястото й,

13 T hat it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked might be shaken out of it?

За да обхване краищата на земята, Така щото да се изтърсят от нея злодейците

14 I t is changed like the signet-clay; and stand forth as in a garment:

Та да се преобразува тя, както глина под печат, И <всичко> да изпъква като че ли в облекло,

15 A nd from the wicked their light is withholden, and the uplifted arm is broken.

А от нечестивите да се отнема виделината им, И издигнатата им мишца да се строши?

16 H ast thou entered as far as the springs of the sea? and hast thou walked in the recesses of the deep?

Прониквал ли си до изворите на морето? Или ходил ли си да изследваш бездната?

17 H ave the gates of death been revealed unto thee? and hast thou seen the gates of the shadow of death?

Откриха ли се на тебе вратите на смъртта? Или видял ли си сенчестите врати на смъртта?

18 H ath thine understanding compassed the breadths of the earth? Declare if thou knowest it all.

Схванал ли си широчината на земята? Кажи, ако си разбрал всичко това.

19 W here is the way to where light dwelleth? and the darkness, where is its place,

Где е пътят към обиталището на светлината? И на тъмнината где е мястото й,

20 T hat thou shouldest take it to its bound, and that thou shouldest know the paths to its house?

За да я заведеш до границата й, И да познаеш пътеките към дома й?

21 T hou knowest, for thou wast then born, and the number of thy days is great!

<Без съмнение>, ти знаеш, защото тогаз си се родил, И голямо е числото на твоите дни!

22 H ast thou entered into the storehouses of the snow, and hast thou seen the treasuries of the hail,

Влизал ли си в съкровищниците за снега, Или виждал ли си съкровищниците за градушката,

23 W hich I have reserved for the time of distress, for the day of battle and war?

Които пазя за време на скръб, За ден на бой и на война?

24 B y what way is the light parted, the east wind scattered upon the earth?

Що е пътят <за мястото, гдето> се разсява светлината, Или се разпръсва по земята източният вятър?

25 W ho hath divided a channel for the rain-flood, and a way for the thunder's flash;

Кой е разцепил водопровод за проливните дъждове, Или път за светкавицата на гърма,

26 T o cause it to rain on the earth, where no one is; on the wilderness wherein there is not a man;

За да се докара дъжд върху ненаселена земя, Върху пустинята, гдето няма човек,

27 T o satisfy the desolate and waste, and to cause the sprout of the grass to spring forth?

За да насити пустата и запустяла <земя. >И да направи нежната трева да изникне?

28 H ath the rain a father? or who begetteth the drops of dew?

Дъждът има ли баща? Или кой е родил капките на росата?

29 O ut of whose womb cometh the ice? and the hoary frost of heaven, who bringeth it forth?

От чия матка излиза ледът? И кой е родил небесната слана? -

30 W hen the waters lie hidden as in stone, and the face of the deep holdeth fast together.

<Когато> водите се втвърдяват като камък, И повърхността на бездната се смръзва.

31 C anst thou fasten the bands of the Pleiades, or loosen the cords of Orion?

Ти ли връзваш връзките на Плеадите, Или развързваш въжетата на Ориона?

32 D ost thou bring forth the constellations each in its season? or dost thou guide the Bear with her sons?

Извеждаш ли Мазарот {Вероятно някое съзвездие или звезда.} на времето му? Или управляваш Мечката с малките й?

33 K nowest thou the ordinances of the heavens? dost thou determine their rule over the earth?

Познаваш ли законите на небето? Установяваш ли неговото владичество върху земята?

34 D ost thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that floods of waters may cover thee?

Издигаш ли гласа си до облаците, За да те покрият изобилни води?

35 D ost thou send forth lightnings that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?

Изпращаш ли светкавици, та да излизат И да ти казват: Ето ни?

36 W ho hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the mind?

Кой е турил мъдрост в облаците? Или кой е дал разум на гъстите облаци?

37 W ho numbereth the clouds with wisdom? or who poureth out the bottles of the heavens,

Кой с мъдрост брои облаците? Или кой излива небесните мехове

38 W hen the dust runneth as into a molten mass, and the clods cleave fast together?

Та да се сгъстява пръстта в куп, И буците да се слепят?

39 D ost thou hunt the prey for the lioness, and dost thou satisfy the appetite of the young lions,

Улавят ли лов за лъвицата? Или насищат ли охотата на лъвовите малки,

40 W hen they crouch in dens, abide in the thicket to lie in wait?

Когато седят в рововете си, <И> остават в скривалищата за да причакват?

41 W ho provideth for the raven his food, when his young ones cry unto God, they wander for lack of meat?

Кой приготвя за враната храната й, Когато пилетата й от нямане храна Се скитат и викат към Бога?
