1 T hen the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph came near. These are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah.

Vinieron las hijas de Zelofehad hijo de Hefer, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, de las familias de Manasés hijo de José, los nombres de las cuales eran Maala, Noa, Hogla, Milca y Tirsa;

2 T hey stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the Tent of Meeting, saying,

y se presentaron delante de Moisés y delante del sacerdote Eleazar, y delante de los príncipes y de toda la congregación, a la puerta del tabernáculo de reunión, y dijeron:

3 “ Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Korah, but he died in his own sin. He had no sons.

Nuestro padre murió en el desierto; y él no estuvo en la compañía de los que se juntaron contra Jehová en el grupo de Coré, sino que en su propio pecado murió, y no tuvo hijos.

4 W hy should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among the brothers of our father.”

¿Por qué será quitado el nombre de nuestro padre de entre su familia, por no haber tenido hijo? Danos heredad entre los hermanos de nuestro padre.

5 M oses brought their cause before Yahweh.

Y Moisés llevó su causa delante de Jehová.

6 Y ahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

Y Jehová respondió a Moisés, diciendo:

7 “ The daughters of Zelophehad speak right. You shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers. You shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.

Bien dicen las hijas de Zelofehad; les darás la posesión de una heredad entre los hermanos de su padre, y traspasarás la heredad de su padre a ellas.

8 Y ou shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.

Y a los hijos de Israel hablarás, diciendo: Cuando alguno muriere sin hijos, traspasaréis su herencia a su hija.

9 I f he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.

Si no tuviere hija, daréis su herencia a sus hermanos;

10 I f he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.

y si no tuviere hermanos, daréis su herencia a los hermanos de su padre.

11 I f his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it. This shall be a statute and ordinance for the children of Israel, as Yahweh commanded Moses.’”

Y si su padre no tuviere hermanos, daréis su herencia a su pariente más cercano de su linaje, y de éste será; y para los hijos de Israel esto será por estatuto de derecho, como Jehová mandó a Moisés. Josué es designado como sucesor de Moisés

12 Y ahweh said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.

Jehová dijo a Moisés: Sube a este monte Abarim, y verás la tierra que he dado a los hijos de Israel.

13 W hen you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered;

Y después que la hayas visto, tú también serás reunido a tu pueblo, como fue reunido tu hermano Aarón.

14 b ecause in the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, to honor me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

Pues fuisteis rebeldes a mi mandato en el desierto de Zin, en la rencilla de la congregación, no santificándome en las aguas a ojos de ellos. Estas son las aguas de la rencilla de Cades en el desierto de Zin.

15 M oses spoke to Yahweh, saying,

Entonces respondió Moisés a Jehová, diciendo:

16 “ Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,

Ponga Jehová, Dios de los espíritus de toda carne, un varón sobre la congregación,

17 w ho may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in; that the congregation of Yahweh not be as sheep which have no shepherd.”

que salga delante de ellos y que entre delante de ellos, que los saque y los introduzca, para que la congregación de Jehová no sea como ovejas sin pastor.

18 Y ahweh said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.

Y Jehová dijo a Moisés: Toma a Josué hijo de Nun, varón en el cual hay espíritu, y pondrás tu mano sobre él;

19 S et him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and commission him in their sight.

y lo pondrás delante del sacerdote Eleazar, y delante de toda la congregación; y le darás el cargo en presencia de ellos.

20 Y ou shall give authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.

Y pondrás de tu dignidad sobre él, para que toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel le obedezca.

21 H e shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.”

El se pondrá delante del sacerdote Eleazar, y le consultará por el juicio del Urim delante de Jehová; por el dicho de él saldrán, y por el dicho de él entrarán, él y todos los hijos de Israel con él, y toda la congregación.

22 M oses did as Yahweh commanded him. He took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation.

Y Moisés hizo como Jehová le había mandado, pues tomó a Josué y lo puso delante del sacerdote Eleazar, y de toda la congregación;

23 H e laid his hands on him, and commissioned him, as Yahweh spoke by Moses.

y puso sobre él sus manos, y le dio el cargo, como Jehová había mandado por mano de Moisés.
