1 ( Ein Psalm Davids, vorzusingen, für das Erbe.) HERR, höre meine Worte, merke auf meine Rede!

Listen to my words, O Lord, give heed to my sighing and groaning.

2 V ernimm mein Schreien, mein König und mein Gott; denn ich will vor dir beten.

Hear the sound of my cry, my King and my God, for to You do I pray.

3 H ERR, frühe wollest du meine Stimme hören; frühe will ich mich zu dir schicken und aufmerken.

In the morning You hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I prepare for You and watch and wait.

4 D enn du bist nicht ein Gott, dem gottloses Wesen gefällt; wer böse ist, bleibt nicht vor dir.

For You are not a God Who takes pleasure in wickedness; neither will the evil so much as dwell with You.

5 D ie Ruhmredigen bestehen nicht vor deinen Augen; du bist feind allen Übeltätern.

Boasters can have no standing in Your sight; You abhor all evildoers.

6 D u bringst die Lügner um; der HERR hat Greuel an den Blutgierigen und Falschen.

You will destroy those who speak lies; the Lord abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.

7 I ch aber will in dein Haus gehen auf deine große Güte und anbeten gegen deinen heiligen Tempel in deiner Furcht.

But as for me, I will enter Your house through the abundance of Your steadfast love and mercy; I will worship toward and at Your holy temple in reverent fear and awe of You.

8 H ERR, leite mich in deiner Gerechtigkeit um meiner Feinde willen; richte deinen Weg vor mir her.

Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; make Your way level (straight and right) before my face.

9 D enn in ihrem Munde ist nichts Gewisses; ihr Inwendiges ist Herzeleid. Ihr Rachen ist ein offenes Grab; denn mit ihren Zungen heucheln sie.

For there is nothing trustworthy or steadfast or truthful in their talk; their heart is destruction; their throat is an open sepulcher; they flatter and make smooth with their tongue.

10 S prich sie schuldig, Gott, daß sie fallen von ihrem Vornehmen. Stoße sie aus um ihrer großen Übertretungen willen; denn sie sind widerspenstig.

Hold them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own designs and counsels; cast them out because of the multitude of their transgressions, for they have rebelled against You.

11 L aß sich freuen alle, die auf dich trauen; ewiglich laß sie rühmen, denn du beschirmst sie; fröhlich laß sein in dir, die deinen Namen lieben.

But let all those who take refuge and put their trust in You rejoice; let them ever sing and shout for joy, because You make a covering over them and defend them; let those also who love Your name be joyful in You and be in high spirits.

12 D enn du, HERR, segnest die Gerechten; du krönest sie mit Gnade wie mit einem Schild.

For You, Lord, will bless the righteous; as with a shield You will surround him with goodwill (pleasure and favor).
