1 ( Ein Psalm Davids.) HERR, ich rufe zu dir; eile zu mir; vernimm meine Stimme, wenn ich dich anrufe.

Lord, I call upon You; hasten to me. Give ear to my voice when I cry to You.

2 M ein Gebet müsse vor dir Taugen wie ein Räuchopfer, mein Händeaufheben wie ein Abendopfer.

Let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

3 H ERR, behüte meinen Mund und bewahre meine Lippen.

Set a guard, O Lord, before my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.

4 N eige mein Herz nicht auf etwas Böses, ein gottloses Wesen zu führen mit den Übeltätern, daß ich nicht esse von dem, was ihnen geliebt.

Incline my heart not to submit or consent to any evil thing or to be occupied in deeds of wickedness with men who work iniquity; and let me not eat of their dainties.

5 D er Gerechte schlage mich freundlich und strafe mich; das wird mir so wohl tun wie Balsam auf meinem Haupt; denn ich bete stets, daß sie mir nicht Schaden tun.

Let the righteous man smite and correct me—it is a kindness. Oil so choice let not my head refuse or discourage; for even in their evils or calamities shall my prayer continue.

6 I hre Führer müssen gestürzt werden über einen Fels; so wird man dann meine Rede hören, daß sie lieblich sei.

When their rulers are overthrown in stony places, shall hear my words, that they are sweet (pleasant, mild, and just).

7 U nsere Gebeine sind zerstreut bis zur Hölle, wie wenn einer das Land pflügt und zerwühlt.

The unburied bones shall lie scattered at the mouth of Sheol, as the lumps of soil behind the plowman when he breaks open the ground.

8 D enn auf dich, HERR HERR, sehen meine Augen; ich traue auf dich, verstoße meine Seele nicht.

But my eyes are toward You, O God the Lord; in You do I trust and take refuge; pour not out my life nor leave it destitute and bare.

9 B ewahre mich vor dem Stricke, den sie mir gelegt haben, und von der Falle der Übeltäter.

Keep me from the trap which they have laid for me, and the snares of evildoers.

10 D ie Gottlosen müssen in ihr eigen Netz fallen miteinander, ich aber immer vorübergehen.

Let the wicked fall together into their own nets, while I pass over them and escape.
