Then Eliashib the high priest rose up with his brethren the priests and built the Sheep Gate. They consecrated it and set up its doors; they consecrated it even to the Tower of Hammeah or the Hundred, as far as the Tower of Hananel.

2 N eben ihm bauten die Männer von Jericho. Und daneben baute Sakkur, der Sohn Imris.

And next to him the men of Jericho built. Next to Zaccur son of Imri built.

3 A ber das Fischtor bauten die Kinder von Senaa, sie deckten es und setzten seine Türen ein, Schlösser und Riegel.

And the Fish Gate the sons of Hassenaah built; they laid its beams and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

4 N eben ihnen baute Meremoth, der Sohn Urias, des Sohnes Hakkoz. Neben ihnen baute Mesullam, der Sohn Berechjas, des Sohnes Mesesabeels. Neben ihnen baute Zadok, der Sohn Baanas.

And next to them Meremoth son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired. Next to them Meshullam son of Berechiah, the son of Meshezabel, repaired. Next to them Zadok son of Baana repaired.

5 N eben ihnen bauten die von Thekoa; aber ihre Vornehmeren brachten ihren Hals nicht zum Dienst ihrer Herren.

Next to them the Tekoites repaired, but their nobles or lords did not put their necks to the work of their Lord.

6 D as alte Tor baute Jojada, der Sohn Paseahs, und Mesullam, der Sohn Besodjas; sie deckten es und setzten ein seine Türen und Schlösser und Riegel.

Moreover, the Old Gate Joiada son of Paseah and Meshullam son of Besodeiah repaired. They laid its beams and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

7 N eben ihnen bauten Melatja von Gibeon und Jadon von Meronoth, die Männer von Gibeon und von Mizpa, am Stuhl des Landpflegers diesseit des Wassers.

Next to them repaired Melatiah the Gibeonite and Jadon the Meronothite, the men of Gibeon and of Mizpah, to the seat or residence of the governor the River.

8 D aneben baute Usiel, der Sohn des Harhajas, der Goldschmied. Neben ihm baute Hananja, der Sohn der Salbenbereiter; und sie bauten aus zu Jerusalem bis an die breite Mauer.

Next to them repaired Uzziel son of Harhaiah, one of the goldsmiths. Next to him repaired Hananiah, one of the perfumers, and they abandoned Jerusalem as far as the Broad Wall.

9 N eben ihm baute Rephaja, der Sohn Hurs, der Oberste des halben Kreises von Jerusalem.

Next to them repaired Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler of half the district of Jerusalem.

10 N eben ihm baute Jedaja, der Sohn Harumaphs, gegenüber seinem Hause. Neben ihm baute Hattus, der Sohn Hasabnejas.

Next to them repaired Jedaiah son of Harumaph, opposite his own house. And next to him repaired Hattush son of Hashabneiah.

11 A ber Malchia, der Sohn Harims, und Hassub, der Sohn Pahath-Moabs, bauten ein andres Stück und den Ofenturm.

Malchijah son of Harim and Hasshub son of Pahath-moab repaired another portion and the Tower of the Furnaces.

12 D aneben baute Sallum, der Sohn des Halohes, der Oberste des andern halben Kreises von Jerusalem, er und seine Töchter.

Next to repaired Shallum son of Hallohesh, the ruler of half the district of Jerusalem, he and his daughters.

13 D as Taltor bauten Hanun und die Bürger von Sanoah, sie bauten's und setzten ein seine Türen, Schlösser und Riegel, und tausend Ellen an der Mauer bis an das Misttor.

The Valley Gate was repaired by Hanun and the inhabitants of Zanoah. They built it and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars and repaired a thousand cubits of the wall, as far as the Dung Gate.

14 D as Misttor aber baute Malchia, der Sohn Rechabs, der Oberste des Kreises von Beth-Cherem; er baute es und setzte ein seine Türen, Schlösser und Riegel.

The Dung Gate was repaired by Malchijah son of Rechab, the ruler of the district of Beth-haccherem. He rebuilt it and set its doors, its bolts, and its bars.

15 A ber das Brunnentor baute Sallun, der Sohn Chol-Hoses, der Oberste des Kreises von Mizpa, er baute es und deckte es und setzte ein seine Türen, Schlösser und Riegel, dazu die Mauer am Teich Siloah bei dem Garten des Königs bis an die Stufen, die von der Stadt Davids herabgehen.

The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallum son of Col-hozeh, ruler of the district of Mizpah. He rebuilt and covered it and set up its doors, its bolts, and its bars, and the wall of the Pool of Shelah (Siloam), by the King’s Garden, as far as the stairs that go down from the the City of David.

16 N ach ihm baute Nehemia, der Sohn Asbuks, der Oberste des halben Kreises von Beth-Zur, bis gegenüber den Gräbern Davids und bis an den Teich, den man gemacht hatte, und bis an das Haus der Helden.

After him Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of half the district of Beth-zur, repaired to a point opposite the sepulchers of David, and to the artificial pool and the house of the guards.

17 N ach ihm bauten die Leviten, Rehum, der Sohn Banis. Neben ihm baute Hasabja, der Oberste des halben Kreises von Kegila, für seinen Kreis.

After him the Levites: Rehum son of Bani. Next to him repaired Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah.

18 N ach ihm bauten ihre Brüder, Bavvai, der Sohn Henadads, der Oberste des andern halben Kreises von Kegila.

After him repaired their brethren under Bavvai son of Henadad, ruler of half of the district of Keilah.

19 N eben ihm baute Eser, der Sohn Jesuas, der Oberste zu Mizpa, ein anderes Stück den Winkel hinan gegenüber dem Zeughaus.

Next to him repaired Ezer son of Jeshua, ruler of Mizpah, another district over opposite the ascent to the armory at the angle.

20 N ach ihm auf dem Berge baute Baruch, der Sohn Sabbais, ein anderes Stück vom Winkel bis an die Haustür Eljasibs, des Hohenpriesters.

After him Baruch son of Zabbai (Zaccai) earnestly repaired another portion from the angular turning of the wall to the door of the house of Eliashib the high priest.

21 N ach ihm baute Meremoth, der Sohn Urias, des Sohnes Hakkoz, ein anderes Stück von der Haustür Eljasibs, bis an das Ende des Hauses Eljasibs,

After him Meremoth son of Uriah, the son of Hakkoz, repaired from the door of Eliashib’s house to the end of his house.

22 N ach ihm bauten die Priester, die Männer aus der Gegend.

After him the priests, men of the plain, repaired.

23 N ach dem baute Benjamin und Hassub gegenüber ihrem Hause. Nach dem baute Asarja, der Sohn Maasejas, des Sohnes Ananjas, neben seinem Hause.

After them Benjamin and Hasshub repaired opposite their house. After them repaired Azariah son of Maaseiah, the son of Ananiah beside his own house.

24 N ach ihm baute Binnui, der Sohn Henadads, ein anderes Stück vom Hause Asarjas bis an den Winkel und bis an die Ecke.

After him Binnui son of Henadad repaired another section, from the house of Azariah to the angular turn of the wall and to the corner.

25 P alal, der Sohn Usais, gegenüber dem Winkel und den Oberen Turm, der vom Königshause heraussieht bei dem Kerkerhofe. Nach ihm Pedaja, der Sohn Pareos.

Palal son of Uzai repaired opposite the angular turn of the wall and the tower which stands out from the upper house of the king by the court of the guard. After him Pedaiah son of Parosh

26 D ie Tempelknechte aber wohnten am Ophel bis an das Wassertor gegen Morgen, da der Turm heraussieht.

And the servants of the priests dwelling on Ophel repaired to opposite the Water Gate on the east and the projecting tower.

27 N ach dem bauten die von Thekoa ein anderes Stück gegenüber dem großen Turm, der heraussieht, und bis an die Mauer des Ophel.

After them the Tekoites repaired another portion opposite the great projecting tower to the wall of Ophel.

28 A ber vom Roßtor an bauten die Priester, ein jeglicher gegenüber seinem Hause.

Above the Horse Gate the priests repaired, everyone opposite his own house.

29 N ach dem baute Zadok, der Sohn Immers, gegenüber seinem Hause. Nach ihm baute Semaja, der Sohn Sechanjas, der Hüter des Tores gegen Morgen.

After them repaired Zadok son of Immer opposite his house. Then Shemaiah son of Shecaniah, keeper of the East Gate, repaired.

30 N ach ihm baute Hananja, der Sohn Selemjas, und Hanun, der Sohn Zalaphs, der sechste, ein anderes Stück. Nach ihm baute Mesullam, der Sohn Berechjas, gegenüber seiner Kammer.

After him Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section. After him Meshullam son of Berechiah repaired opposite his chamber.

31 N ach ihm baute Malchia, der Sohn des Goldschmieds, bis an das Haus der Tempelknechte und der Krämer, gegenüber dem Ratstor und bis an den Söller an der Ecke.

After him Malchijah, one of the goldsmiths, repaired as far as the house of the temple servants and of the merchants, opposite the Muster Gate, and to the ascent and upper room of the corner.

32 U nd zwischen dem Söller und dem Schaftor bauten die Goldschmiede und die Krämer.

And from the ascent and upper room of the corner to the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants repaired.
