1 M anasse war zwölf Jahre alt, da er König ward, und regierte fünfundfünzig Jahre zu Jerusalem

Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem.

2 u nd tat, was dem HERR übel gefiel, nach den Greueln der Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertrieben hatte,

But he did evil in the Lord’s sight, like the abominations of the heathen whom the Lord drove out before the Israelites.

3 u nd baute wieder Höhen, die sein Vater Hiskia abgebrochen hatte und stiftete den Baalim Altäre und machte Ascherabilder und betete an alles Heer des Himmels und diente ihnen.

For he built again the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down, and he reared altars for the Baals and made the Asherim and worshiped all the hosts of the heavens and served them.

4 E r baute auch Altäre im Hause des HERRN, davon der HERR geredet hat: Zu Jerusalem soll mein Name sein ewiglich;

Also he built altars in the Lord’s house, of which the Lord had said, In Jerusalem shall My Name be forever.

5 u nd baute Altäre allem Heer des Himmels in beiden Höfen am Hause des HERRN.

He built altars for all the hosts of the heavens in the two courts of the Lord’s house.

6 U nd er ließ seine Söhne durchs Feuer gehen im Tal des Sohnes Hinnoms und wählte Tage und achtete auf Vogelgeschrei und zauberte und stiftete Wahrsager und Zeichendeuter und tat viel, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, ihn zu erzürnen.

And he burned his children as an offering in the Valley of Ben-hinnom, and practiced soothsaying, augury, and sorcery, and dealt with mediums and wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking Him to anger.

7 E r setzte auch das Bild des Götzen, das er machen ließ, ins Haus Gottes, davon Gott zu David geredet hatte und zu Salomo, seinem Sohn: In diesem Hause zu Jerusalem, das ich erwählt habe vor allen Stämmen Israels, will ich meinen Namen setzen ewiglich;

And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put My Name forever;

8 u nd will nicht mehr den Fuß Israels lassen weichen von dem Lande, das ich ihren Vätern bestellt habe, sofern sie sich halten, daß sie tun alles, was ich ihnen geboten habe, in allem Gesetz und den Geboten und Rechten durch Mose.

And I will no more remove Israel from the land which I appointed for your fathers, if they will only take heed to do all that I have commanded them, the whole law, the statutes, and the ordinances given through Moses.

9 A ber Manasse verführte Juda und die zu Jerusalem, daß sie ärger taten denn die Heiden, die der HERR vor den Kindern Israel vertilgt hatte.

So Manasseh led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to do more evil than the heathen whom the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites.

10 U nd wenn der HERR mit Manasse und seinem Volk reden ließ, merkten sie nicht darauf.

The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they would not hearken.

11 D arum ließ der HERR über sie kommen die Fürsten des Heeres des Königs von Assyrien, die nahmen Manasse gefangen mit Fesseln und banden ihn mit Ketten und brachten ihn gen Babel.

So the Lord brought against them the commanders of the host of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh with hooks and in fetters and brought him to Babylon.

12 U nd da er in Angst war, flehte er vor dem HERRN, seinem Gott, und demütigte sich sehr vor dem Gott seiner Väter

When he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers.

13 u nd bat und flehte zu ihm. Da erhörte er sein Flehen und brachte ihm wieder gen Jerusalem zu seinem Königreich. Da erkannte Manasse, daß der HERR Gott ist.

He prayed to Him, and God, entreated by him, heard his supplication and brought him again to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.

14 D arnach baute er die äußere Mauer an der Stadt Davids abendswärts an Gihon im Tal und wo man zum Fischtor eingeht und umher an den Ophel und machte sie sehr hoch und legte Hauptleute in die festen Städte Juda's

And he built an outer wall to the City of David west of Gihon in the valley, to the entrance of the Fish Gate, and ran it around Ophel, raising it to a very great height; and he put commanders of the army in all the fortified cities of Judah.

15 u nd tat weg die fremden Götter und den Götzen aus dem Hause des HERRN und alle Altäre, die er gebaut hatte auf dem Berge des Hauses des HERRN und zu Jerusalem, und warf sie hinaus vor die Stadt

And he took away the foreign gods and the idol out of the house of the Lord and all the altars that he had built on the mount of the house of the Lord and in Jerusalem; and he cast them out of the city.

16 u nd richtete zu den Altar des HERRN und opferte darauf Dankopfer und Lobopfer und befahl Juda, daß sie dem HERRN, dem Gott Israels, dienen sollten.

And he restored the Lord’s altar and sacrificed on it offerings of peace and of thanksgiving; and he commanded Judah to serve the Lord, the God of Israel.

17 D och opferte das Volk noch auf den Höhen, wiewohl dem HERRN, ihrem Gott.

Yet the people still sacrificed in the high places, but only to the Lord their God.

18 W as aber mehr von Manasse zu sagen ist und sein Gebet zu seinem Gott und die Reden der Seher, die mit ihm redeten im Namen des HERRN, des Gottes Israels, siehe, die sind unter den Geschichten der Könige Israels.

Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer to his God, and the words of the seers who spoke to him in the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel.

19 U nd sein Gebet und Flehen und alle seine Sünde und Missetat und die Stätten, darauf er die Höhen baute und Ascherabilder und Götzen stiftete, ehe denn er gedemütigt ward, siehe, die sind geschrieben unter den Geschichten der Seher.

His prayer and how God heard him, and all his sins and unfaithfulness, and the sites on which he built high places and set up the Asherim and graven images before he humbled himself, behold, they are written in the Chronicles of the Seers.

20 U nd Manasse entschlief mit seinen Vätern und sie begruben ihn in seinem Hause. Und sein Sohn Amon ward König an seiner Statt.

So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house. And Amon his son reigned in his stead.

21 Z weiundzwanzig Jahre alt war Amon, da er König ward, und regierte zwei Jahre zu Jerusalem

Amon was twenty-two years old when he began his two-year reign in Jerusalem.

22 u nd tat, was dem HERRN übel gefiel, wie sein Vater Manasse getan hatte. Und Amon opferte allen Götzen, die sein Vater Manasse gemacht hatte, und diente ihnen.

But he did evil in the sight of the Lord, as did Manasseh his father; for Amon sacrificed to all the images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them,

23 A ber er demütigte sich nicht vor dem HERRN, wie sich sein Vater Manasse gedemütigt hatte; denn er, Amon machte der Schuld viel.

And he did not humble himself before the Lord, as Manasseh his father did; but Amon trespassed and became more and more guilty.

24 U nd seine Knechte machten einen Bund wieder ihn und töteten ihn in seinem Hause.

And his servants conspired against him and killed him in his own house.

25 D a schlug das Volk im Lande alle, die den Bund wider den König Amon gemacht hatten. Und das Volk im Lande macht Josia, seinen Sohn zum König an seiner Statt.

But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon, and they made Josiah his son king in his stead.
