1 U nd da er aus dem Tempel ging, sprach zu ihm seiner Jünger einer: Meister, siehe, welche Steine und welch ein Bau ist das!

And as was coming out of the temple '> area], one of His disciples said to Him, Look, Teacher! Notice the sort and quality of these stones and buildings!

2 U nd Jesus antwortete und sprach zu ihm: Siehst du wohl allen diesen großen Bau? Nicht ein Stein wird auf dem anderen bleiben, der nicht zerbrochen werde.

And Jesus replied to him, You see these great buildings? There will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be loosened and torn down.

3 U nd da er auf dem Ölberge saß gegenüber dem Tempel, fragten ihn Petrus, Jakobus und Johannes und Andreas besonders:

And as He sat on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple '> enclosure], Peter and James and John and Andrew asked Him privately,

4 S age uns, wann wird das alles geschehen? Und was wird das Zeichen sein, wann das alles soll vollendet werden?

Tell us when is this to take place and what will be the sign when these things, all, are about to be accomplished?

5 J esus antwortete ihnen und fing an, zu sagen: Sehet zu das euch nicht jemand verführe!

And Jesus began to tell them, Be careful and watchful that no one misleads you.

6 D enn es werden viele kommen unter meinem Namen und sagen: "Ich bin Christus!" und werden viele verführen.

Many will come in '> appropriating to themselves] the name which belongs to Me '> basing their claims on the use of My name], saying, I am! And they will mislead many.

7 W enn ihr aber hören werdet von Kriegen und Kriegsgeschrei, so fürchtet euch nicht. Denn es muß also geschehen; aber das Ende ist noch nicht da.

And when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not get alarmed (troubled and frightened); it is necessary take place, but the end is not yet.

8 E s wird sich ein Volk wider das andere empören und ein Königreich wider das andere, und werden Erdbeben geschehen hin und wieder, und wird teure Zeit und Schrecken sein. Das ist der Not Anfang.

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places; there will be famines and calamities. This is but the beginning of the intolerable anguish and suffering '> birth pangs].

9 I hr aber, sehet euch vor! Denn sie werden euch überantworten vor die Rathäuser und Schulen; und ihr müßt gestäupt werden, und vor Fürsten und Könige geführt werden um meinetwillen, zu einem Zeugnis über sie.

But look to yourselves; for they will turn you over to councils, and you will be beaten in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake as a testimony to them.

10 U nd das Evangelium muß zuvor verkündigt werden unter alle Völker.

And the good news (the Gospel) must first be preached to all nations.

11 W enn sie euch nun führen und überantworten werden, so sorget nicht, was ihr reden sollt, und bedenket auch nicht zuvor; sondern was euch zu der Stunde gegeben wird, das redet. Denn ihr seid's nicht, die da reden, sondern der Heilige Geist.

Now when they take you and put you under arrest, do not be anxious beforehand about what you are to say nor meditate about it; but say whatever is given you in that hour and at the moment, for it is not you who will be speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

12 E s wird aber überantworten ein Bruder den andern zum Tode und der Vater den Sohn, und die Kinder werden sich empören gegen die Eltern und werden sie helfen töten.

And brother will hand over brother to death, and the father his child; and children will take a stand against their parents and them put to death.

13 U nd ihr werdet gehaßt sein von jedermann um meines Namens willen. Wer aber beharrt bis an das Ende, der wird selig.

And you will be hated and detested by everybody for My name’s sake, but he who patiently perseveres and endures to the end will be saved ( made a partaker of the salvation by Christ, and delivered from spiritual death).

14 W enn ihr aber sehen werdet den Greuel der Verwüstung (von dem der Prophet Daniel gesagt hat), daß er steht, wo er nicht soll (wer es liest, der merke darauf!), alsdann, wer in Judäa ist, der fliehe auf die Berge;

But when you see the abomination of desolation mentioned by Daniel the prophet standing where it ought not to be— let the one who reads take notice and consider and understand and heed —then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

15 u nd wer auf dem Dache ist, der steige nicht hernieder ins Haus und komme nicht hinein, etwas zu holen aus seinem Hause;

Let him who is on the housetop not go down into the house nor go inside to take anything out of his house;

16 u nd wer auf dem Felde ist, der wende sich nicht um, seine Kleider zu holen.

And let him who is in the field not turn back again to get his mantle (cloak).

17 W eh aber den Schwangeren und Säugerinnen zu der Zeit!

And alas for those who are pregnant and for those who have nursing babies in those days!

18 B ittet aber, daß eure Flucht nicht geschehe im Winter.

Pray that it may not occur in winter,

19 D enn in diesen Tagen werden solche Trübsale sein, wie sie nie gewesen sind bisher, vom Anfang der Kreatur, die Gott geschaffen hat, und wie auch nicht werden wird.

For at that time there will be such affliction (oppression and tribulation) as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created until this particular time—and positively never will be.

20 U nd so der HERR diese Tage nicht verkürzt hätte, würde kein Mensch selig: aber um der Auserwählten willen, die er auserwählt hat, hat er auch diese Tage verkürzt.

And unless the Lord had shortened the days, no human being would be saved (rescued); but for the sake of the elect, His chosen ones (those whom He picked out for Himself), He has shortened the days.

21 W enn nun jemand zu der Zeit wird zu euch sagen: Siehe, hier ist Christus! siehe, da ist er! so glaubet nicht.

And then if anyone says to you, See, here is the Christ (the Messiah)! or, Look, there He is! do not believe it.

22 D enn es werden sich erheben falsche Christi und falsche Propheten, die Zeichen und Wunder tun, daß sie auch die Auserwählten verführen, so es möglich wäre.

False Christs (Messiahs) and false prophets will arise and show signs and miracles to deceive and lead astray, if possible, even the elect (those God has chosen out for Himself).

23 I hr aber sehet euch vor! Siehe, ich habe es euch alles zuvor gesagt.

But look to yourselves and be on your guard; I have told you everything beforehand.

24 A ber zu der Zeit, nach dieser Trübsal, werden Sonne und Mond ihren Schein verlieren,

But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;

25 u nd die Sterne werden vom Himmel fallen, und die Kräfte der Himmel werden sich bewegen.

And the stars will be falling from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken.

26 U nd dann werden sie sehen des Menschen Sohn kommen in den Wolken mit großer Kraft und Herrlichkeit.

And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great (kingly) power and glory (majesty and splendor).

27 U nd dann wird er seine Engel senden und wird versammeln seine Auserwählten von den vier Winden, von dem Ende der Erde bis zum Ende des Himmels.

And then He will send out the angels and will gather together His elect (those He has picked out for Himself) from the four winds, from the farthest bounds of the earth to the farthest bounds of heaven.

28 A n dem Feigenbaum lernet ein Gleichnis: wenn jetzt seine Zweige saftig werden und Blätter gewinnen, so wißt ihr, daß der Sommer nahe ist.

Now learn a lesson from the fig tree: as soon as its branch becomes tender and it puts forth its leaves, you recognize and know that summer is near.

29 A lso auch, wenn ihr sehet, daß solches geschieht, so wisset, daß es nahe vor der Tür ist.

So also, when you see these things happening, you may recognize and know that He is near, at door.

30 W ahrlich, ich sage euch: Dies Geschlecht wird nicht vergehen, bis daß dies alles geschehe.

Surely I say to you, this generation ( the whole multitude of people living at that one time) positively will not perish or pass away before all these things take place.

31 H immel und Erde werden vergehen; meine Worte aber werden nicht vergehen.

Heaven and earth will perish and pass away, but My words will not perish or pass away.

32 V on dem Tage aber und der Stunde weiß niemand, auch die Engel im Himmel nicht, auch der Sohn nicht, sondern allein der Vater.

But of that day or that hour not a person knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

33 S ehet zu, wachet und betet; denn ihr wisset nicht, wann es Zeit ist.

Be on your guard, and watch and pray; for you do not know when the time will come.

34 G leich als ein Mensch, der über Land zog und verließ sein Haus und gab seinem Knecht Macht, einem jeglichen sein Werk, und gebot dem Türhüter, er sollte wachen.

It is like a man '> already] going on a journey; when he leaves home, he puts his servants in charge, each with his particular task, and he gives orders to the doorkeeper to be constantly alert and on the watch.

35 S o wachet nun (denn ihr wißt nicht, wann der Herr des Hauses kommt, ob er kommt am Abend oder zu Mitternacht oder um den Hahnenschrei oder des Morgens),

Therefore watch (give strict attention, be cautious and alert), for you do not know when the Master of the house is coming—in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrowing, or in the morning—

36 a uf daß er nicht schnell komme und finde euch schlafend.

lest He come suddenly and unexpectedly and find you asleep.

37 W as ich aber euch sage, das sage ich allen: Wachet!

And what I say to you I say to everybody: Watch (give strict attention, be cautious, active, and alert)!
