1 D ies ist die Last über das Schautal: Was ist denn euch, daß ihr alle so auf die Dächer lauft?

The mournful, inspired prediction (a burden to be lifted up) concerning the Valley of Vision: What do you mean that you have all gone up to the housetops,

2 D u warst voll Getönes, eine Stadt voll Volks, eine fröhliche Stadt. Deine Erschlagenen sind nicht mit dem Schwert erschlagen und nicht im Streit gestorben;

You who are full of shouting, a tumultuous city, a joyous and exultant city? your slain warriors have not met death with the sword or in battle.

3 a lle deine Hauptleute sind vor dem Bogen gewichen und gefangen; alle, die man in dir gefunden hat, sind gefangen und fern geflohen.

All your leaders have fled together; without the bow they have been taken captive and bound by the archers. All of you who were found were bound together, though they had fled far away.

4 D arum sage ich: Hebt euch von mir, laßt mich bitterlich weinen; müht euch nicht, mich zu trösten über die Verstörung der Tochter meines Volks!

Therefore I said, Look away from me; I will weep bitterly. Do not hasten and try to comfort me over the destruction of the daughter of my people.

5 D enn es ist ein Tag des Getümmels und der Zertretung und Verwirrung vom HERRN HERRN Zebaoth im Schautal um des Untergrabens willen der Mauer und des Geschreies am Berge.

For it is a day of discomfiture and of tumult, of treading down, of confusion and perplexity from the Lord God of hosts in the Valley of Vision, a day of breaking down the walls and of crying to the mountains.

6 D enn Elam fährt daher mit Köcher, Wagen, Leuten und Reitern, und Kir glänzt daher mit Schilden.

And Elam take up the quiver, with troops in chariots, infantry, and horsemen; and Kir uncovered the shield.

7 U nd es wird geschehen, daß deine auserwählten Täler werden voll Wagen sein, und Reiter werden sich lagern vor die Tore.

And it came to pass that your choicest valleys were full of chariots, and the horsemen took their station.

8 D a wird der Vorhang Juda's aufgedeckt werden, daß man schauen wird zu der Zeit nach Rüstungen im Hause des Waldes.

Then removed the protective covering of Judah; and you looked to the weapons in the House of the Forest in that day.

9 U nd ihr werdet die Risse an der Stadt Davids viel sehen und werdet das Wasser des untern Teiches sammeln;

You saw that the breaches of the City of David were many; you collected the waters of the Lower Pool.

10 i hr werdet auch die Häuser zu Jerusalem zählen; ja, ihr werdet die Häuser abbrechen, die Mauer zu befestigen,

And you numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall.

11 u nd werdet einen Graben machen zwischen beiden Mauern vom Wasser des alten Teiches. Doch sehet ihr nicht auf den, der solches tut, und schauet nicht auf den, der solches schafft von ferneher.

You also made a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the Old Pool, but you did not look to the Maker of it, nor did you recognize Him Who planned it long ago.

12 D arum wird der HERR HERR Zebaoth zu der Zeit rufen lassen, daß man weine und klage und sich das Haar abschere und Säcke anziehe.

And in that day the Lord God of hosts called you to weeping and mourning, to the shaving off of all your hair and to the girding with sackcloth.

13 W iewohl jetzt, siehe, ist's eitel Freude und Wonne, Ochsen würgen, Schafe schlachten, Fleisch essen, Wein trinken und ihr sprecht: "Laßt uns essen und trinken, wir sterben doch morgen!"

But instead, see the pleasure and mirth, slaying oxen and killing sheep, eating flesh and drinking wine, Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

14 A ber meinen Ohren ist es vom HERRN Zebaoth offenbart: Was gilt's, ob euch diese Missetat soll vergeben werden, bis ihr sterbet? spricht der HERR HERR Zebaoth.

And the Lord of hosts revealed Himself in my ears, Surely this unatoned sin shall not be purged from you until death, says the Lord God of hosts.

15 S o spricht der HERR HERR Zebaoth: Gehe hinein zum Schatzmeister Sebna, dem Hofmeister, und sprich zu ihm:

Come, go to this steward and treasurer, to Shebna, who is over the house, and say to him,

16 W as hast du hier? wem gehörst du an, daß du dir ein Grab hier hauen lässest, als der sein Grab in der Höhe hauen läßt und als der seine Wohnung in den Felsen machen läßt?

What business have you here? And whom have you entombed here, that you have the right to hew out for yourself a tomb here? He hews out a sepulcher for himself on the height! He carves out a dwelling for himself in the rock!

17 S iehe, der HERR wird dich wegwerfen, wie ein Starker einen wegwirft, und wird dich greifen

Behold, the Lord will hurl you away violently, O you strong man; yes, He will take tight hold of you and He will surely cover you.

18 u nd dich umtreiben wie eine Kugel auf weitem Lande. Daselbst wirst du sterben, daselbst werden deine köstlichen Wagen bleiben, du Schmach des Hauses deines Herrn!

He will surely roll you up in a bundle and toss you like a ball into a large country; there you will die and there will be your splendid chariots, you disgrace to your master’s house!

19 U nd ich will dich von deinem Stande stürzen, und von deinem Amt will ich dich setzen.

And I will thrust you from your office, and from your station will you be pulled down.

20 U nd zu der Zeit will ich rufen meinen Knecht Eljakim, den Sohn Hilkias,

And in that day I will call My servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah.

21 u nd will ihm deinen Rock anziehen und ihn mit deinem Gürtel gürten und deine Gewalt in seine Hand geben, daß er Vater sei derer, die zu Jerusalem wohnen und des Hauses Juda.

And I will clothe him with your robe and will bind your girdle on him and will commit your authority to his hand; he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah.

22 U nd ich will die Schlüssel zum Hause Davids auf seine Schulter legen, daß er auftue und niemand zuschließe, daß er zuschließe und niemand auftue.

And the key of the house of David I will lay upon his shoulder; he shall open and no one shall shut, he shall shut and no one shall open.

23 U nd will ihn zum Nagel stecken an einen festen Ort, und er soll haben den Stuhl der Ehre in seines Vaters Hause,

And I will fasten him like a peg or nail in a firm place; and he will become a throne of honor and glory to his father’s house.

24 d aß man an ihn hänge alle Herrlichkeit seines Vaterhauses, Kind und Kindeskinder, alle kleinen Geräte, beide, Trinkgefäße und allerlei Krüge.

And they will hang on him the honor and the whole weight of his father’s house: the offspring and issue, every small vessel, from the cups even to all the flasks and big bulging bottles.

25 Z u der Zeit, spricht der HERR Zebaoth, soll der Nagel weggenommen werden, der am festen Ort steckt, daß er zerbreche und falle und seine Last umkomme. Denn der HERR sagt's.

In that day, says the Lord of hosts, the nail or peg that was fastened into the sure place shall give way and be moved and be hewn down and fall, and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off; for the Lord has spoken it.
