1 U nd ich hob meine Augen auf und sah, und siehe, ein Mann hatte eine Meßschnur in der Hand.

And I lifted up my eyes and saw, and behold, a man with a measuring line in his hand.

2 U nd ich sprach: Wo gehst du hin? Er aber sprach zu mir: Daß ich Jerusalem messe und sehe, wie lang und weit es sein soll.

Then said I, Where are you going? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what is its breadth and what is its length.

3 U nd siehe, der Engel, der mit mir redete, ging heraus; und ein anderer Engel ging heraus ihm entgegen

And behold, the angel who talked with me went forth and another angel went out to meet him,

4 u nd sprach zu ihm: Lauf hin und sage diesem Jüngling und sprich: Jerusalem wird bewohnt werden ohne Mauern vor großer Menge der Menschen und Viehs, die darin sein werden.

And he said to the second angel, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited and dwell as villages without walls, because of the multitude of people and livestock in it.

5 U nd ich will, spricht der HERR, eine feurige Mauer umher sein und will mich herrlich darin erzeigen.

For I, says the Lord, will be to her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.

6 H ui, hui! Fliehet aus dem Mitternachtlande! spricht der HERR; denn ich habe euch in die vier Winde unter dem Himmel zerstreut, spricht der HERR.

Ho! ho! flee from the land of the north, says the Lord, and from the four winds of the heavens, for to them have I scattered you, says the Lord.

7 H ui, Zion, die du wohnst bei der Tochter Babel, entrinne!

Ho! Escape to Zion, you who dwell with the daughter of Babylon!

8 D enn so spricht der HERR Zebaoth: Er hat mich gesandt nach Ehre zu den Heiden, die euch beraubt haben; denn wer euch antastet, der tastet seinen Augapfel an.

For thus said the Lord of hosts, after glory had sent me to the nations who plundered you—for he who touches you touches the apple or pupil of His eye:

9 D enn siehe, ich will meine Hand über sie schwingen, daß sie sollen ein Raub werden denen, die ihnen gedient haben; und ihr sollt erfahren, daß mich der HERR Zebaoth gesandt hat.

Behold, I will swing my hand over them and they shall become plunder for those who served them. Then you shall know (recognize and understand) that the Lord of hosts has sent me.

10 F reue dich und sei fröhlich, du Tochter Zion! denn siehe, ich komme und will bei dir wohnen, spricht der HERR.

Sing and rejoice, O Daughter of Zion; for behold, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of you, says the Lord.

11 U nd sollen zu der Zeit viel Heiden zum HERRN getan werden und sollen mein Volk sein; und ich will bei dir wohnen, und sollst erfahren, daß mich der HERR Zebaoth zu dir gesandt hat.

And many nations shall join themselves to the Lord in that day and shall be My people. And I will dwell in the midst of you, and you shall know (recognize and understand) that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.

12 U nd der HERR wird Juda erben als sein Teil in dem heiligen Lande und wird Jerusalem wieder erwählen.

And the Lord shall inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land and shall again choose Jerusalem.

13 A lles Fleisch sei still vor dem HERRN; denn er hat sich aufgemacht aus seiner heiligen Stätte.

Be still, all flesh, before the Lord, for He is aroused and risen from His holy habitation.
