1 U nd Mirjam und Aaron redeten wider Mose um seines Weibes willen, der Mohrin, die er genommen hatte, darum daß er eine Mohrin zum Weibe genommen hatte,

Now Miriam and Aaron talked against Moses because of his Cushite wife, for he had married a Cushite woman.

2 u nd sprachen: Redet denn der HERR allein durch Mose? Redet er nicht auch durch uns? Und der HERR hörte es.

And they said, Has the Lord indeed spoken only by Moses? Has He not spoken also by us? And the Lord heard it.

3 A ber Mose war ein sehr geplagter Mensch über alle Menschen auf Erden.

Now the man Moses was very meek (gentle, kind, and humble) or above all the men on the face of the earth.

4 U nd plötzlich sprach der HERR zu Mose und zu Aaron und zu Mirjam: Geht heraus, ihr drei, zu der Hütte des Stifts. Und sie gingen alle drei heraus.

Suddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, Come out, you three, to the Tent of Meeting. And the three of them came out.

5 D a kam der HERR hernieder in der Wolkensäule und trat in der Hütte Tür und rief Aaron und Mirjam; und die beiden gingen hinaus.

The Lord came down in a pillar of cloud, and stood at the Tent door and called Aaron and Miriam, and they came forward.

6 U nd er sprach: Höret meine Worte: Ist jemand unter euch ein Prophet des HERRN, dem will ich mich kundmachen in einem Gesicht oder will mit ihm reden in einem Traum.

And He said, Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make Myself known to him in a vision and speak to him in a dream.

7 A ber nicht also mein Knecht Mose, der in meinem ganzen Hause treu ist.

But not so with My servant Moses; he is entrusted and faithful in all My house.

8 M ündlich rede ich mit ihm, und er sieht den HERRN in seiner Gestalt, nicht durch dunkle Worte oder Gleichnisse. Warum habt ihr euch denn nicht gefürchtet, wider meinen Knecht Mose zu reden?

With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly and not in dark speeches; and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?

9 U nd der Zorn des HERRN ergrimmte über sie, und er wandte sich weg;

And the anger of the Lord was kindled against them, and He departed.

10 d azu die Wolke wich auch von der Hütte. Und siehe da war Mirjam aussätzig wie der Schnee. Und Aaron wandte sich zu Mirjam und wird gewahr, daß sie aussätzig ist,

And when the cloud departed from over the Tent, behold, Miriam was leprous, as white as snow. And Aaron looked at Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous!

11 U nd sprach zu Mose: Ach, mein Herr, laß die Sünde nicht auf uns bleiben, mit der wir töricht getan und uns versündigt haben,

And Aaron said to Moses, Oh, my lord, I plead with you, lay not the sin upon us in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.

12 d aß diese nicht sei wie ein Totes, das von seiner Mutter Leibe kommt und ist schon die Hälfte seines Fleisches gefressen.

Let her not be as one dead, already half decomposed when he comes out of his mother’s womb.

13 M ose aber schrie zu dem HERRN und sprach: Ach Gott, heile sie!

And Moses cried to the Lord, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech You!

14 D er HERR sprach zu Mose: Wenn ihr Vater ihr ins Angesicht gespieen hätte, sollte sie sich nicht sieben Tage schämen? Laß sie verschließen sieben Tage außerhalb des Lagers; darnach laß sie wieder aufnehmen.

And the Lord said to Moses, If her father had but spit in her face, should she not be ashamed for seven days? Let her be shut up outside the camp for seven days, and after that let her be brought in again.

15 A lso ward Mirjam sieben Tage verschlossen außerhalb des Lagers. Und das Volk zog nicht weiter, bis Mirjam aufgenommen ward.

So Miriam was shut up without the camp for seven days, and the people did not journey on until Miriam was brought in again.

16 D arnach zog das Volk von Hazeroth und lagerte sich in die Wüste Pharan.

Afterward removed from Hazeroth and encamped in the Wilderness of Paran.
