1 W enn ein Prophet oder Träumer unter euch wird aufstehen und gibt dir ein Zeichen oder Wunder,

If a prophet arises among you, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives you a sign or a wonder,

2 u nd das Zeichen oder Wunder kommt, davon er dir gesagt hat, und er spricht: Laß uns andern Göttern folgen, die ihr nicht kennt, und ihnen dienen;

And the sign or the wonder he foretells to you comes to pass, and if he says, Let us go after other gods—gods you have not known—and let us serve them,

3 s o sollst du nicht gehorchen den Worten des Propheten oder Träumers; denn der HERR, euer Gott, versucht euch, daß er erfahre, ob ihr ihn von ganzem Herzen liebhabt.

You shall not listen to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with your entire being.

4 D enn ihr sollt dem HERRN, eurem Gott, folgen und ihn fürchten und seine Gebote halten und seiner Stimme gehorchen und ihm dienen und ihm anhangen.

You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice, and you shall serve Him and cling to Him.

5 D er Prophet aber oder der Träumer soll sterben, darum daß er euch von dem HERRN, eurem Gott, der euch aus Ägyptenland geführt und dich von dem Diensthause erlöst hat, abzufallen gelehrt und dich aus dem Wege verführt hat, den der HERR, dein Gott, geboten hat, darin zu wandeln, auf daß du das Böse von dir tust.

But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has talked rebellion and turning away from the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of bondage; that man has tried to draw you aside from the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So shall you put the evil away from your midst.

6 W enn dich dein Bruder, deiner Mutter Sohn, oder dein Sohn oder deine Tochter oder das Weib in deinen Armen oder dein Freund, der dir ist wie dein Herz, heimlich überreden würde und sagen: Laß uns gehen und andern Göttern dienen! -die du nicht kennst noch deine Väter,

If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend who is as your own life entices you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods—gods you have not known, you nor your fathers,

7 v on den Göttern der Völker, die um euch her sind, sie seien dir nahe oder ferne, von einem Ende der Erde bis an das andere,

Of the gods of the peoples who are round about you, near you or far away from you, from one end of the earth to the other—

8 s o willige nicht darein und gehorche ihm nicht. Auch soll dein Auge seiner nicht schonen, und sollst dich seiner nicht erbarmen noch ihn verbergen,

You shall not give consent to him or listen to him; nor shall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him or conceal him.

9 s ondern sollst ihn erwürgen. Deine Hand soll die erste über ihm sein, daß man ihn töte, und darnach die Hand des ganzen Volks.

But you shall surely kill him; your hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hands of all the people.

10 M an soll ihn zu Tode steinigen, denn er hat dich wollen verführen von dem HERRN, deinem Gott, der dich aus Ägyptenland, aus dem Diensthaus, geführt hat,

And you shall stone him to death with stones, because he has tried to draw you away from the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.

11 a uf daß ganz Israel höre und fürchte sich und man nicht mehr solch Übel vornehme unter euch.

And all Israel shall hear and fear, and shall never again do any such wickedness as this among you.

12 W enn du hörst von irgend einer Stadt, die dir der HERR, dein Gott, gegeben hat, darin zu wohnen, daß man sagt:

If you hear it said in one of your cities which the Lord your God has given you in which to dwell

13 E s sind etliche heillose Leute ausgegangen unter dir und haben die Bürger ihrer Stadt verführt und gesagt: Laßt uns gehen und andern Göttern dienen! -die ihr nicht kennt-

That certain base fellows have gone out from your midst and have enticed away the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods—gods you have not known—

14 s o sollst du sie fleißig suchen, forschen und fragen. Und so sich findet die Wahrheit, daß es gewiß also ist, daß der Greuel unter euch geschehen ist,

Then you shall inquire and make search and ask diligently. And behold, if it is true and certain that such an abominable thing has been done among you,

15 s o sollst du die Bürger derselben Stadt schlagen mit des Schwertes Schärfe und sie verbannen mit allem, was darin ist, und ihr Vieh mit der Schärfe des Schwerts.

You shall surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly and all who are in it and its beasts with the edge of the sword.

16 U nd allen ihren Raub sollst du sammeln mitten auf die Gasse und mit Feuer verbrennen, die Stadt und allen ihren Raub miteinander, dem HERRN, deinem Gott, daß sie auf einem Haufen liege ewiglich und nie wieder gebaut werde.

And you shall collect all its spoil into the midst of its open square and shall burn the city with fire with every bit of its spoil to the Lord your God. It shall be a heap forever; it shall not be built again.

17 U nd laß nichts von dem Bann an deiner Hand hangen, auf daß der HERR von dem Grimm seines Zorns abgewendet werde und gebe dir Barmherzigkeit und erbarme sich deiner und mehre dich, wie er den Vätern geschworen hat;

And nothing of the accursed thing shall cling to your hand, so that the Lord may turn from the fierceness of His anger, and show you mercy and have compassion on you and multiply you, as He swore to your fathers,

18 d arum daß du der Stimme des HERRN, deines Gottes, gehorcht hast, zu halten alle seine Gebote, die ich dir heute gebiete, daß du tust, was recht ist vor den Augen des HERRN, deines Gottes.

If you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep all His commandments which I command you this day, to do what is right in the eyes of the Lord your God.
