1 W hoever loves correction loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.

¶ El que ama el castigo ama la sabiduría; mas el que aborrece la reprensión, es carnal.

2 A good man shall obtain favor from Yahweh, but he will condemn a man of wicked devices.

¶ El bueno alcanzará favor del SEÑOR; mas él condenará al hombre de malos pensamientos.

3 A man shall not be established by wickedness, but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

¶ El hombre no se afirmará por medio de la impiedad; mas la raíz de los justos no será movida.

4 A worthy woman is the crown of her husband, but a disgraceful wife is as rottenness in his bones.

¶ La mujer virtuosa es corona de su marido; mas la mala, como carcoma en sus huesos.

5 T he thoughts of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.

¶ Los pensamientos de los justos son rectitud; mas las astucias de los impíos, engaño.

6 T he words of the wicked are about lying in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them.

¶ Las palabras de los impíos son para asechar la sangre; mas la boca de los rectos los librará.

7 T he wicked are overthrown, and are no more, but the house of the righteous shall stand.

¶ Dios trastornará a los impíos, y no serán más; pero la casa de los justos permanecerá.

8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom, but he who has a warped mind shall be despised.

¶ Según su sabiduría es alabado el hombre; mas el perverso de corazón será menospreciado.

9 B etter is he who is lightly esteemed, and has a servant, than he who honors himself, and lacks bread.

¶ Mejor es el que se menosprecie y se hace siervo, que el que se precia, y carece de pan.

10 A righteous man respects the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.

¶ El justo tiene misericordia aun de su bestia; mas la piedad de los impíos es crueldad.

11 H e who tills his land shall have plenty of bread, but he who chases fantasies is void of understanding.

¶ El que labra su tierra, se saciará de pan; mas el que sigue a los vagabundos es falto de entendimiento.

12 T he wicked desires the plunder of evil men, but the root of the righteous flourishes.

¶ Desea el impío la red de los malos; mas la raíz de los justos dará fruto.

13 A n evil man is trapped by sinfulness of lips, but the righteous shall come out of trouble.

¶ El impío es enredado en la prevaricación de sus labios; mas el justo saldrá de la tribulación.

14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth. The work of a man’s hands shall be rewarded to him.

¶ El hombre será saciado de bien del fruto de su boca; y la paga de las manos del hombre le será dada.

15 T he way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who is wise listens to counsel.

¶ El camino del loco es derecho en su opinión; mas el que escucha el consejo es sabio.

16 A fool shows his annoyance the same day, but one who overlooks an insult is prudent.

¶ El loco al momento da a conocer su ira; mas el que cubre la injuria es cuerdo.

17 H e who is truthful testifies honestly, but a false witness lies.

¶ El que habla verdad, declara justicia; mas el testigo mentiroso, engaño.

18 T here is one who speaks rashly like the piercing of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.

¶ Hay quienes hablan como dando estocadas de espada; mas la lengua de los sabios es medicina.

19 T ruth’s lips will be established forever, but a lying tongue is only momentary.

¶ El labio de la verdad permanecerá para siempre; mas la lengua de mentira por un momento.

20 D eceit is in the heart of those who plot evil, but joy comes to the promoters of peace.

¶ Engaño hay en el corazón de los que piensan mal; mas alegría en el de los que piensan bien.

21 N o mischief shall happen to the righteous, but the wicked shall be filled with evil.

¶ Ninguna iniquidad alcanzará al justo; mas los impíos serán llenos de mal.

22 L ying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight.

¶ Los labios mentirosos son abominación al SEÑOR; mas los obradores de la verdad su contentamiento.

23 A prudent man keeps his knowledge, but the hearts of fools proclaim foolishness.

¶ El hombre cuerdo encubre su sabiduría; mas el corazón de los locos publica la locura.

24 T he hands of the diligent ones shall rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.

¶ La mano de los diligentes se enseñoreará; mas la negligencia será tributaria.

25 A nxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a kind word makes it glad.

¶ El cuidado congojoso en el corazón del hombre, lo abate; mas la buena palabra lo alegra.

26 A righteous person is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

¶ El justo hace reflexionar a su prójimo; mas el camino de los impíos les hace errar.

27 T he slothful man doesn’t roast his game, but the possessions of diligent men are prized.

¶ El engañoso ni aun asará su caza; mas el haber del hombre diligente es precioso.

28 I n the way of righteousness is life; in its path there is no death.

¶ En la vereda de la justicia está la vida; y el camino de su vereda no es muerte.
