1 N ow these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse says, the man who was raised on high says, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:

¶ Estas son las postreras palabras de David. Dijo David hijo de Jessé, dijo aquel varón que fue levantado alto, el ungido del Dios de Jacob, el dulce cantor de Israel:

2 “ Yahweh’s Spirit spoke by me. His word was on my tongue.

(El Espíritu del SEÑOR ha hablado por mí, y su palabra ha sido en mi lengua.

3 T he God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, ‘One who rules over men righteously, who rules in the fear of God,

El Dios de Israel me ha dictado, el Fuerte de Israel habló): Señoreador de los hombres, justo señoreador en el temor de Dios.

4 s hall be as the light of the morning, when the sun rises, a morning without clouds, when the tender grass springs out of the earth, through clear shining after rain.’

Y como la luz de la mañana cuando sale el sol, de la mañana resplandeciente sin nubes; como resplandor por llovizna sobre la yerba de la tierra:

5 M ost certainly my house is not so with God, yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn’t make it grow.

¿No será así mi casa para con Dios? bien que a toda mi salud, y a toda mi voluntad no se hará producir todavía. Mas él ha hecho conmigo pacto perpetuo ordenado en todas las cosas, y será guardado;

6 B ut all the ungodly will be as thorns to be thrust away, because they can’t be taken with the hand,

mas los de Belial serán todos ellos como espinas arrancadas, las cuales nadie toma con la mano;

7 B ut the man who touches them must be armed with iron and the staff of a spear. They will be utterly burned with fire in their place.”

sino que el que quiere tocar en ellas, se arma de hierro y de asta de lanza, y son quemadas del todo en su lugar.

8 T hese are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb Basshebeth a Tahchemonite, chief of the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite, against eight hundred slain at one time.

¶ Estos son los nombres de los valientes que tuvo David: El que se sentaba en cátedra de sabiduría, principal de los tres: Adino el eznita, que en una ocasión se halló haber matado ochocientos enemigos.

9 A fter him was Eleazar the son of Dodai the son of an Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they defied the Philistines who were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel had gone away.

Después de éste fue Eleazar, hijo de Dodo de Ahohi, uno de los tres valientes que estaban con David, cuando desafiaron a los filisteos que se habían juntado allí a la batalla, y subieron los de Israel.

10 H e arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand froze to the sword; and Yahweh worked a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to take plunder.

Este, levantándose, hirió a los filisteos, hasta que su mano se cansó, y quedó pegada su mano a la espada. Aquel día el SEÑOR hizo gran salvación; y se volvió el pueblo en pos de él solamente a tomar el despojo.

11 A fter him was Shammah the son of Agee a Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the people fled from the Philistines.

Después de éste fue Sama, hijo de Age, el araita; que habiéndose juntado los filisteos en una aldea, había allí una heredad de tierra llena de lentejas, y el pueblo había huido delante de los filisteos.

12 B ut he stood in the middle of the plot and defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh worked a great victory.

El entonces se paró en medio de la heredad de tierra, y la defendió, e hirió a los filisteos; y el SEÑOR hizo una gran salvación.

13 T hree of the thirty chief men went down, and came to David in the harvest time to the cave of Adullam; and the troop of the Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

Estos tres que eran de los treinta principales descendieron y vinieron en tiempo de la siega a David a la cueva de Adulam; y el campamento de los filisteos estaba puesto en el valle de Refaim.

14 D avid was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then in Bethlehem.

David entonces estaba en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba en Belén.

15 D avid longed, and said, “Oh that someone would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

Y David tuvo deseo, y dijo: ¡Quién me diera a beber del agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

16 T he three mighty men broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem that was by the gate, and took it and brought it to David; but he would not drink of it, but poured it out to Yahweh.

Entonces estos tres valientes rompieron por el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que estaba a la puerta; y tomaron, y la trajeron a David; mas él no la quiso beber, sino la derramó al SEÑOR, diciendo:

17 H e said, “Be it far from me, Yahweh, that I should do this! Isn’t this the blood of the men who risked their lives to go?” Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.

Lejos sea de mí, oh SEÑOR, que yo haga esto. ¿ He de beber yo la sangre de los varones que fueron con peligro de su vida? Y no quiso beberla. Estos tres valientes hicieron esto.

18 A bishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the three. He lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.

Y Abisai hermano de Joab, hijo de Sarvia, fue el principal de tres; el cual alzó su lanza contra trescientos, los cuales mató; y tuvo nombre entre los tres.

19 W asn’t he most honorable of the three? therefore he was made their captain. However he wasn’t included as one of the three.

El era el más noble de los tres, y el capitán de ellos; mas no llegó a los tres primeros.

20 B enaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit in a time of snow.

Después, Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de un varón esforzado, grande en hechos, de Cabseel. Este hirió dos leones de Moab: y él mismo descendió, e hirió un león en medio de un foso en el tiempo de la nieve.

21 H e killed a huge Egyptian, and the Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

También hirió él a un egipcio, hombre de grande estatura; y tenía el egipcio una lanza en su mano; mas descendió a él con un palo, y arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano, y lo mató con su propia lanza.

22 B enaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.

Esto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada, y tuvo nombre entre los tres valientes.

23 H e was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three. David set him over his guard.

De los treinta fue el más noble; pero no llegó a los tres primeros. Y lo puso David en su consejo.

24 A sahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty: Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

Asael hermano de Joab fue de los treinta; Elhanán hijo de Dodo de Belén;

25 S hammah the Harodite, Elika the Harodite,

Sama de Harodi, Elica de Harodi;

26 H elez the Paltite, Ira the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite,
