1 S aul was consenting to his death. A great persecution arose against the assembly which was in Jerusalem in that day. They were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except for the apostles.

¶ Y Saulo consentía en su muerte. Y en aquel día se hizo una gran persecución en la Iglesia que estaba en Jerusalén; y todos fueron esparcidos por las tierras de Judea y de Samaria, salvo los apóstoles.

2 D evout men buried Stephen, and lamented greatly over him.

Y llevaron a enterrar a Esteban varones píos, e hicieron gran llanto sobre él.

3 B ut Saul ravaged the assembly, entering into every house, and dragged both men and women off to prison.

Entonces Saulo asolaba la Iglesia, entrando por las casas; y trayendo hombres y mujeres, los entregaba en la cárcel.

4 T herefore those who were scattered abroad went around preaching the word.

¶ Mas los que fueron esparcidos, pasaban por la tierra anunciando la Palabra del Evangelio.

5 P hilip went down to the city of Samaria, and proclaimed to them the Christ.

Entonces Felipe, descendiendo a la ciudad de Samaria, les predicaba el Cristo.

6 T he multitudes listened with one accord to the things that were spoken by Philip, when they heard and saw the signs which he did.

Y el pueblo escuchaba atentamente unánimes las cosas que decía Felipe, oyendo y viendo las señales que hacía.

7 F or unclean spirits came out of many of those who had them. They came out, crying with a loud voice. Many who had been paralyzed and lame were healed.

Porque muchos espíritus inmundos, salían de los que los tenían, dando grandes voces; y muchos paralíticos y cojos eran sanados;

8 T here was great joy in that city.

así que había gran gozo en aquella ciudad.

9 B ut there was a certain man, Simon by name, who used to practice sorcery in the city, and amazed the people of Samaria, making himself out to be some great one,

Y había un hombre llamado Simón, el cual antes ejercía la magia en aquella ciudad, y había asombrado a la gente de Samaria, diciéndose ser algún grande;

10 t o whom they all listened, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is that great power of God.”

al cual oían todos atentamente, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, diciendo: Esta es la gran virtud de Dios.

11 T hey listened to him, because for a long time he had amazed them with his sorceries.

Y le estaban atentos, porque con sus artes mágicas los había asombrado mucho tiempo.

12 B ut when they believed Philip preaching good news concerning God’s Kingdom and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Pero cuando creyeron a Felipe, que les anunciaba el Evangelio del Reino de Dios y el Nombre de Jesús el Cristo, se bautizaban hombres y mujeres.

13 S imon himself also believed. Being baptized, he continued with Philip. Seeing signs and great miracles occurring, he was amazed.

El mismo Simón creyó también entonces, y bautizándose, se llegó a Felipe; y viendo los milagros y grandes maravillas que se hacían, estaba atónito.

14 N ow when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

¶ Y los apóstoles que estaban en Jerusalén, habiendo oído que Samaria había recibido la palabra de Dios, les enviaron a Pedro y a Juan;

15 w ho, when they had come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Spirit;

los cuales venidos, oraron por ellos, para que recibieran el Espíritu Santo;

16 f or as yet he had fallen on none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus.

(porque aún no había descendido en ninguno de ellos, mas solamente eran bautizados en el Nombre de Jesús.)

17 T hen they laid their hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

Entonces les impusieron las manos, y recibieron el Espíritu Santo.

18 N ow when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles’ hands, he offered them money,

Cuando vio Simón que por la imposición de las manos de los apóstoles se daba el Espíritu Santo, les ofreció dinero,

19 s aying, “Give me also this power, that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”

diciendo: Dadme también a mí esta potestad, que a cualquiera que pusiere las manos encima, reciba el Espíritu Santo.

20 B ut Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money!

Entonces Pedro le dijo: Tu dinero perezca contigo, qué piensas que el don de Dios se gana por dinero.

21 Y ou have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart isn’t right before God.

No tienes tú parte ni suerte en este negocio; porque tu corazón no es recto delante de Dios.

22 R epent therefore of this, your wickedness, and ask God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

Arrepiéntete pues de ésta tu maldad, y ruega a Dios, si quizás te será perdonado este pensamiento de tu corazón.

23 F or I see that you are in the gall of bitterness and in the bondage of iniquity.”

Porque en hiel de amargura y en prisión de maldad veo que estás.

24 S imon answered, “Pray for me to the Lord, that none of the things which you have spoken happen to me.”

Respondiendo entonces Simón, dijo: Rogad vosotros por mí al Señor, que ninguna cosa de éstas que habéis dicho, venga sobre mí.

25 T hey therefore, when they had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the Good News to many villages of the Samaritans.

Y ellos, habiendo testificado y hablado la Palabra de Dios, se volvieron a Jerusalén, y en muchas tierras de los samaritanos anunciaron el Evangelio.

26 B ut an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise, and go toward the south to the way that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. This is a desert.”

¶ Y el ángel del Señor habló a Felipe, diciendo: Levántate y ve hacia el mediodía, al camino que desciende de Jerusalén a Gaza, el cual es desierto.

27 H e arose and went; and behold, there was a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was over all her treasure, who had come to Jerusalem to worship.

Entonces él se levantó, y fue; y he aquí un Etíope, eunuco, gobernador de Candace, reina de los Etíopes, el cual era puesto sobre todos sus tesoros, y había venido a adorar a Jerusalén,

28 H e was returning and sitting in his chariot, and was reading the prophet Isaiah.

y se volvía sentado en su carro, y leyendo al profeta Isaías.

29 T he Spirit said to Philip, “Go near, and join yourself to this chariot.”

Y el Espíritu dijo a Felipe: Llégate, y júntate a este carro.

30 P hilip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

Y acudiendo Felipe, le oyó que leía al profeta Isaías, y dijo: Pero ¿entiendes lo que lees?

31 H e said, “How can I, unless someone explains it to me?” He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.

Y dijo: ¿Y cómo podré, si alguno no me enseñare? Y rogó a Felipe que subiera, y se sentara con él.

32 N ow the passage of the Scripture which he was reading was this, “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter. As a lamb before his shearer is silent, so he doesn’t open his mouth.

Y el lugar de la Escritura que leía, era éste: Como oveja a la muerte fue llevado; y como cordero mudo delante del que le trasquila, así no abrió su boca;

33 I n his humiliation, his judgment was taken away. Who will declare His generation? For his life is taken from the earth.”

en su humillación su juicio fue quitado; mas su generación, ¿Quién la contará? Porque es quitada de la tierra su vida.

34 T he eunuch answered Philip, “Who is the prophet talking about? About himself, or about someone else?”

Y respondiendo el eunuco a Felipe, dijo: Te ruego ¿de quién dice el profeta esto? ¿De sí, o de alguno otro?

35 P hilip opened his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, preached to him Jesus.

Entonces Felipe, abriendo su boca, y comenzando desde esta escritura, le anunció el Evangelio de Jesús.

36 A s they went on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water. What is keeping me from being baptized?”

Y yendo por el camino, llegaron a cierta agua; y dijo el eunuco: He aquí agua; ¿qué impide que yo sea bautizado?

Y Felipe dijo: Si crees de todo corazón, bien puedes. Y respondiendo él, dijo: Creo que Jesús, el Cristo, es Hijo de Dios.

38 H e commanded the chariot to stand still, and they both went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and he baptized him.

Y mandó parar el carro; y descendieron ambos al agua, Felipe y el eunuco; y le bautizó.

39 W hen they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch didn’t see him any more, for he went on his way rejoicing.

Cuando subieron del agua, el Espíritu del Señor arrebató a Felipe; y no le vio más el eunuco, y se fue por su camino gozoso.

40 B ut Philip was found at Azotus. Passing through, he preached the Good News to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.

Felipe empero se halló en Azoto; y pasando, anunciaba el Evangelio en todas las ciudades, hasta que llegó a Cesarea.
