1 T here was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year; and David sought the face of Yahweh. Yahweh said, “It is for Saul, and for his bloody house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.”

¶ Y en los días de David hubo hambre por tres años consecutivos. Y David consultó al SEÑOR, y el SEÑOR le dijo: Es por Saúl, y por aquella casa de sangre; porque mató a los gabaonitas.

2 T he king called the Gibeonites, and said to them (now the Gibeonites were not of the children of Israel, but of the remnant of the Amorites, and the children of Israel had sworn to them; and Saul sought to kill them in his zeal for the children of Israel and Judah);

Entonces el rey llamó a los gabaonitas, y les habló. (Los gabaonitas no eran de los hijos de Israel, sino del residuo de los amorreos, a los cuales los hijos de Israel habían hecho juramento; mas Saúl había procurado matarlos con motivo de celo por los hijos de Israel y de Judá).

3 a nd David said to the Gibeonites, “What should I do for you? And with what should I make atonement, that you may bless Yahweh’s inheritance?”

Dijo, pues, David a los gabaonitas: ¿Qué os haré, y con qué haré reconciliación para que bendigáis a la heredad del SEÑOR?

4 T he Gibeonites said to him, “It is no matter of silver or gold between us and Saul, or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” He said, “Whatever you say, that I will do for you.”

Y los gabaonitas le respondieron: No tenemos nosotros pleito sobre plata ni sobre oro con Saúl, y con su casa; ni queremos que muera hombre de Israel. Y él les dijo: Lo que vosotros dijereis os haré.

5 T hey said to the king, “The man who consumed us, and who devised against us, that we should be destroyed from remaining in any of the borders of Israel,

Y ellos respondieron al rey: Aquel hombre que nos destruyó, y que maquinó contra nosotros; asolaremos, que no quede nada de él en todo el término de Israel.

6 l et seven men of his sons be delivered to us, and we will hang them up to Yahweh in Gibeah of Saul, the chosen of Yahweh.” The king said, “I will give them.”

Dénsenos siete varones de sus hijos, para que los descoyuntamos colgándoles de un madero al SEÑOR en Gabaa de Saúl, el escogido del SEÑOR. Y el rey dijo: Yo los daré.

7 B ut the king spared Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, because of Yahweh’s oath that was between them, between David and Jonathan the son of Saul.

Y el rey libró a Mefi-boset, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, por el juramento del SEÑOR que hubo entre ellos, entre David y Jonatán hijo de Saúl.

8 B ut the king took the two sons of Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, whom she bore to Saul, Armoni and Mephibosheth; and the five sons of Michal the daughter of Saul, whom she bore to Adriel the son of Barzillai the Meholathite.

Mas tomó el rey dos hijos de Rizpa hija de Aja, los cuales ella había dado a luz a Saúl, a saber, a Armoni y a Mefi-boset; y cinco hijos de Mical hija de Saúl, los cuales ella había dado a luz a Adriel, hijo de Barzilai, el meholatita;

9 H e delivered them into the hands of the Gibeonites, and they hanged them on the mountain before Yahweh, and all seven of them fell together. They were put to death in the days of harvest, in the first days, at the beginning of barley harvest.

y los entregó en manos de los gabaonitas, y ellos los descoyuntaron colgándoles de un madero en el monte delante del SEÑOR; y murieron juntos aquellos siete, los cuales fueron muertos en el tiempo de la siega, en los primeros días, en el principio de la siega de las cebadas.

10 R izpah the daughter of Aiah took sackcloth, and spread it for herself on the rock, from the beginning of harvest until water poured on them from the sky. She allowed neither the birds of the sky to rest on them by day, nor the animals of the field by night.

¶ Tomando luego Rizpa hija de Aja cilicio, se lo tendió sobre el peñasco, desde el principio de la siega hasta que llovió sobre ellos agua del cielo; y no dejó a ninguna ave del cielo asentarse sobre ellos de día, ni bestias del campo de noche.

11 D avid was told what Rizpah the daughter of Aiah, the concubine of Saul, had done.

Y fue dicho a David lo que hacía Rizpa hija de Aja, concubina de Saúl.

12 S o David went and took the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son from the men of Jabesh Gilead, who had stolen them from the street of Beth Shan, where the Philistines had hanged them, in the day that the Philistines killed Saul in Gilboa;

Entonces David fue, y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo, de los varones de Jabes de Galaad, que los habían hurtado de la plaza de Bet-sán, donde los habían colgado los filisteos, cuando deshicieron los filisteos a Saúl en Gilboa;

13 a nd he brought up from there the bones of Saul and the bones of Jonathan his son. They also gathered the bones of those who were hanged.

y tomó los huesos de Saúl y los huesos de Jonatán su hijo; y juntaron también los huesos de los descoyuntados que fueron colgados de un madero,

14 T hey buried the bones of Saul and Jonathan his son in the country of Benjamin in Zela, in the tomb of Kish his father: and they performed all that the king commanded. After that, God answered prayer for the land.

y sepultaron los huesos de Saúl y los de su hijo Jonatán en tierra de Benjamín, en Sela, en el sepulcro de Cis su padre; e hicieron todo lo que el rey había mandado. Después se aplacó Dios con la tierra.

15 T he Philistines had war again with Israel; and David went down, and his servants with him, and fought against the Philistines. David grew faint;

¶ Y los filisteos volvieron a hacer la guerra a Israel, y David descendió y sus siervos con él, y pelearon con los filisteos; y David se cansó.

16 a nd Ishbibenob, who was of the sons of the giant, the weight of whose spear was three hundred shekels of brass in weight, he being armed with a new sword, thought he would kill David.

E Isbi-benob, el cual era de los hijos del gigante, y el peso de cuya lanza era de trescientos siclos de bronce, y tenía él ceñida una nueva espada, este había determinado herir a David.

17 B ut Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David swore to him, saying, “Don’t go out with us to battle any more, so that you don’t quench the lamp of Israel.”

Mas Abisai hijo de Sarvia le socorrió, e hirió al filisteo, y lo mató. Entonces los varones de David le juraron, diciendo: Nunca más de aquí en adelante saldrás con nosotros a batalla, para que no apagues la lámpara de Israel.

18 A fter this, that there was again war with the Philistines at Gob. Then Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Saph, who was of the sons of the giant.

Otra segunda guerra hubo después en Gob contra los filisteos; entonces Sibecai, el husatita, hirió a Saf, que era de los hijos del gigante.

19 T here was again war with the Philistines at Gob; and Elhanan the son of Jaareoregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite’s brother, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver’s beam.

Otra guerra hubo en Gob contra los filisteos, en la cual Elhanán, hijo de Jaare-oregim de Belén, hirió a Goliat, el geteo, el asta de cuya lanza era como el rodillo de un telar.

20 T here was again war at Gath, where there was a man of great stature, who had six fingers on every hand, and six toes on every foot, twenty four in number; and he also was born to the giant.

Después hubo otra guerra en Gat, donde hubo un varón de grande altura, el cual tenía doce dedos en las manos, y otros doce en los pies, veinticuatro en todos; y también era de los hijos del gigante.

21 W hen he defied Israel, Jonathan the son of Shimei, David’s brother, killed him.

Este deshonró a Israel, y lo mató Jonatán, hijo de Simea hermano de David.

22 T hese four were born to the giant in Gath; and they fell by the hand of David, and by the hand of his servants.

Estos cuatro le habían nacido al gigante en Gat, los cuales cayeron por la mano de David, y por la mano de sus siervos.
