1 M oreover Elihu answered,

Y procediendo Eliú en su razonamiento, dijo:

2 “ Do you think this to be your right, or do you say, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s,’

¿Piensas ser conforme a derecho esto que dijiste: Más justo soy yo que Dios?

3 T hat you ask, ‘What advantage will it be to you? What profit shall I have, more than if I had sinned?’

Porque dijiste: ¿Qué ventaja sacarás tú de ello? ¿O qué provecho tendré de mi pecado?

4 I will answer you, and your companions with you.

Yo te responderé razones, y a tus compañeros contigo.

5 L ook to the heavens, and see. See the skies, which are higher than you.

Mira a los cielos, y ve, y considera que los cielos son más altos que tú.

6 I f you have sinned, what effect do you have against him? If your transgressions are multiplied, what do you do to him?

Si pecares, ¿qué habrás hecho contra él? Y si tus rebeliones se multiplicaren, ¿qué le harás tú?

7 I f you are righteous, what do you give him? Or what does he receive from your hand?

Si fueres justo, ¿qué le darás a él? ¿O qué recibirá de tu mano?

8 Y our wickedness may hurt a man as you are, and your righteousness may profit a son of man.

Al hombre como tú dañará tu impiedad, y al hijo del hombre aprovechará tu justicia.

9 “ By reason of the multitude of oppressions they cry out. They cry for help by reason of the arm of the mighty.

¶ A causa de la gran violencia clamarán, y darán voces por la fuerza de los muchos.

10 B ut no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker, who gives songs in the night,

Y ninguno dirá: ¿Dónde está Dios mi hacedor, que da canciones en la noche?

11 w ho teaches us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the sky?’

Que nos enseña más que a las bestias de la tierra, y nos hace sabios más que las aves del cielo.

12 T here they cry, but no one gives answer, because of the pride of evil men.

Allí clamarán, y él no oirá, por la soberbia de los malos.

13 S urely God will not hear an empty cry, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Ciertamente Dios no oirá la vanidad, ni la mirará el Omnipotente.

14 H ow much less when you say you don’t see him. The cause is before him, and you wait for him!

Aunque más digas, no lo mirará; haz juicio delante de él, y espera en él.

15 B ut now, because he has not visited in his anger, neither does he greatly regard arrogance.

Mas ahora, porque no visitó en su ira, ni se conoce con rigor,

16 T herefore Job opens his mouth with empty talk, and he multiplies words without knowledge.”

por eso Job abrió su boca vanamente, y multiplica palabras sin conocimiento.
