1 T hen all Israel gathered themselves to David to Hebron, saying, “Behold, we are your bone and your flesh.

Entonces todo Israel se juntó a David en Hebrón, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos tu hueso y tu carne.

2 I n times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. Yahweh your God said to you, ‘You shall be shepherd of my people Israel, and you shall be prince over my people Israel.’”

Y además de esto ayer y anteayer, aun mientras Saúl reinaba, tú sacabas y metías a Israel. También el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre Israel mi pueblo.

3 S o all the elders of Israel came to the king to Hebron; and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before Yahweh; and they anointed David king over Israel, according to Yahweh’s word by Samuel.

Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo con ellos pacto delante del SEÑOR; y ungieron a David por rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR por mano de Samuel.

4 D avid and all Israel went to Jerusalem (also called Jebus); and the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, were there.

Entonces se fue David con todo Israel a Jerusalén, la cual es Jebus; porque allí el jebuseo habitaba en aquella tierra.

5 T he inhabitants of Jebus said to David, “You will not come in here.” Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion. The same is David’s city.

Y los moradores de Jebus dijeron a David: No entrarás acá. Mas David tomó la fortaleza de Sion, que es la ciudad de David.

6 D avid said, “Whoever strikes the Jebusites first shall be chief and captain.” Joab the son of Zeruiah went up first, and was made chief.

Y David dijo: El que primero hiriere al jebuseo, será cabeza y príncipe. Entonces Joab hijo de Sarvia subió el primero, y fue hecho cabeza.

7 D avid lived in the stronghold; therefore they called it David’s city.

Y David habitó en la fortaleza, y por esto la llamaron la ciudad de David.

8 H e built the city all around, from Millo even around; and Joab repaired the rest of the city.

Y edificó la ciudad alrededor, desde Millo alrededor; y Joab edificó el resto de la ciudad.

9 D avid grew greater and greater; for Yahweh of Armies was with him.

Y David iba adelantando y creciendo, y el SEÑOR de los ejércitos estaba con él.

10 N ow these are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who showed themselves strong with him in his kingdom, together with all Israel, to make him king, according to Yahweh’s word concerning Israel.

¶ Estos son los capitanes de los valientes que David tuvo, y los que le fortalecieron en su reino, con todo Israel, para hacerle rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR.

11 T his is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, the son of a Hachmonite, the chief of the thirty; he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them at one time.

Y éste es el número de los valientes que David tuvo: Jasobeam hijo de Hacmoni, príncipe de los treinta, el cual blandió su lanza una vez contra trescientos, a los cuales mató.

12 A fter him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighty men.

Tras de éste fue Eleazar hijo de Dodo, ahohíta, el cual era de los tres valientes.

13 H e was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was a plot of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

Este estuvo con David en Pasdamim, estando allí juntos en batalla los filisteos; y había allí una heredad de tierra llena de cebada, y huyendo el pueblo delante de los filisteos,

14 T hey stood in the middle of the plot, defended it, and killed the Philistines; and Yahweh saved them by a great victory.

se pusieron ellos en medio del cultivo, y la defendieron, y vencieron a los filisteos; y los salvó el SEÑOR de gran salvación.

15 T hree of the thirty chief men went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the army of the Philistines were encamped in the valley of Rephaim.

Y tres de los treinta principales descendieron a la peña a David, a la cueva de Adulam, estando el campamento de los filisteos en el valle de Refaim.

16 D avid was then in the stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was in Bethlehem at that time.

Y David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba en Belén.

17 D avid longed, and said, “Oh that one would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem, which is by the gate!”

David deseó entonces, y dijo: ¡Quién me diera a beber de las aguas del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

18 T he three broke through the army of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David; but David would not drink any of it, but poured it out to Yahweh,

Y aquellos tres irrumpieron por el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta, y tomaron y la trajeron a David; mas él no la quiso beber, sino que la derramó al SEÑOR, y dijo:

19 a nd said, “My God forbid me, that I should do this! Shall I drink the blood of these men who have put their lives in jeopardy?” For they risked their lives to bring it. Therefore he would not drink it. The three mighty men did these things.

Guárdeme mi Dios de hacer esto. ¿Había yo de beber la sangre de estos varones con sus vidas, que con peligro de sus vidas la han traído? Y no la quiso beber. Esto hicieron aquellos tres valientes.

20 A bishai, the brother of Joab, he was chief of the three; for he lifted up his spear against three hundred and killed them, and had a name among the three.

Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, era cabeza de tres, el cual blandió su lanza sobre trescientos, a los cuales hirió; y fue entre los tres nombrado.

21 O f the three, he was more honorable than the two, and was made their captain; however he wasn’t included in the three.

Y fue el más ilustre de los tres en el segundo ternario, y fue príncipe de ellos; mas no llegó a los tres primeros.

22 B enaiah the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man of Kabzeel, who had done mighty deeds, killed the two sons of Ariel of Moab. He also went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.

Benaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de varón de esfuerzo, de grandes hechos, de Cabseel; él venció los dos leones de Moab; también descendió, e hirió un león en mitad de un foso en tiempo de nieve.

23 H e killed an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high. In the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and killed him with his own spear.

El mismo venció a un egipcio, hombre de cinco codos de estatura; y el egipcio traía una lanza como un rodillo de un telar; mas él descendió a él con un bastón, y arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano, y lo mató con su misma lanza.

24 B enaiah the son of Jehoiada did these things, and had a name among the three mighty men.

Esto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada, y fue nombrado entre los tres valientes.

25 B ehold, he was more honorable than the thirty, but he didn’t attain to the three; and David set him over his guard.

Y fue el más honrado de los treinta, mas no llegó a los tres primeros. A éste puso David en su consejo.

26 T he mighty men of the armies also include Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

Y los valientes de los ejércitos: Asael hermano de Joab, y Elhanan hijo de Dodo de Belén;

27 S hammoth the Harorite, Helez the Pelonite,

Samot de Arori, Heles, el pelonita;

28 I ra the son of Ikkesh the Tekoite, Abiezer the Anathothite,

Ira hijo de Iques, el tecoíta, Abiezer, el anatotita;

29 S ibbecai the Hushathite, Ilai the Ahohite,
