1 M oreover Yahweh answered Job,

Domnul i-a mai zis lui Iov:

2 “ Shall he who argues contend with the Almighty? He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

„Cel ce se ceartă cu Cel Atotputernic Îi va da Lui învăţătură? Acela care Îl mustră pe Dumnezeu trebuie să-I răspundă!“

3 T hen Job answered Yahweh,

Atunci Iov I-a răspuns Domnului:

4 “ Behold, I am of small account. What shall I answer you? I lay my hand on my mouth.

„Iată, eu sunt neînsemnat! Ce-aş putea să-Ţi răspund? Îmi pun mâna la gură.

5 I have spoken once, and I will not answer; Yes, twice, but I will proceed no further.”

Am vorbit o dată şi nu voi răspunde; de două ori, dar nu voi mai zice nimic.“

6 T hen Yahweh answered Job out of the whirlwind,

Domnul i-a vorbit lui Iov din mijlocul furtunii astfel:

7 “ Now brace yourself like a man. I will question you, and you will answer me.

„Încinge-ţi mijlocul ca un bărbat, ca Eu să te întreb şi tu să Mă înveţi.

8 W ill you even annul my judgment? Will you condemn me, that you may be justified?

Vei nesocoti oare dreptatea Mea? Mă vei condamna pentru a te îndreptăţi tu?

9 O r do you have an arm like God? Can you thunder with a voice like him?

Ai tu un braţ ca al lui Dumnezeu şi poate tuna glasul tău ca al Lui?

10 “ Now deck yourself with excellency and dignity. Array yourself with honor and majesty.

Împodobeşte-te cu splendoare şi onoare, îmbracă-te cu frumuseţe şi slavă.

11 P our out the fury of your anger. Look at everyone who is proud, and bring him low.

Varsă-ţi şuvoiul mâniei tale, uită-te la toţi cei mândri şi umileşte-i.

12 L ook at everyone who is proud, and humble him. Crush the wicked in their place.

Uită-te la toţi cei mândri şi doboară-i, zdrobeşte-i pe cei răi acolo unde stau,

13 H ide them in the dust together. Bind their faces in the hidden place.

ascunde-i pe toţi împreună în ţărână, îngroapă-le faţa în întuneric.

14 T hen I will also admit to you that your own right hand can save you.

Şi Eu voi recunoaşte atunci că mâna ta dreaptă te poate salva.

15 “ See now, behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass as an ox.

Uită-te la behemot, căruia i-am dat viaţă ca şi ţie; mănâncă iarbă ca un bou.

16 L ook now, his strength is in his thighs. His force is in the muscles of his belly.

Tăria lui stă în şalele lui şi puterea în muşchii pântecelui său.

17 H e moves his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together.

Îşi îndoaie coada ca un cedru; tendoanele coapselor sale sunt întreţesute,

18 H is bones are like tubes of brass. His limbs are like bars of iron.

oasele îi sunt ţevi de bronz, mădularele lui sunt ca nişte drugi de fier.

19 H e is the chief of the ways of God. He who made him gives him his sword.

El este cel mai mare între lucrările lui Dumnezeu. Cel Ce l-a făcut l-a înzestrat cu o sabie.

20 S urely the mountains produce food for him, where all the animals of the field play.

Căci munţii îi dau hrană acolo unde se joacă animalele sălbatice.

21 H e lies under the lotus trees, in the covert of the reed, and the marsh.

Se culcă sub lotus, între trestii şi în mlaştină.

22 T he lotuses cover him with their shade. The willows of the brook surround him.

Lotusul îl acoperă şi-i ţine umbră, sălciile râului îl înconjoară.

23 B ehold, if a river overflows, he doesn’t tremble. He is confident, though the Jordan swells even to his mouth.

Dacă râul creşte, el nu se teme, stă liniştit chiar dacă Iordanul se năpusteşte asupra gurii lui.

24 S hall any take him when he is on the watch, or pierce through his nose with a snare?

Crezi că-l poţi prinde lovindu -l în ochi sau îi poţi străpunge nasul într-o cursă?
