1 Î mpăratul Solomon era împărat peste tot Israelul.

So King Solomon was king over all Israel.

2 I ată căpeteniile pe cari le avea în slujba lui: Azaria, fiul preotului Ţadoc,

And these were his officials: Azariah the son of Zadok, the priest;

3 E lihoref şi Ahia, fiii lui Şişa, erau logofeţi; Iosafat, fiul lui Ahilud, era scriitor;

Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder;

4 B enala, fiul lui Iehoiada, era peste oştire; Ţadoc şi Abiatar erau preoţi.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, over the army; Zadok and Abiathar, the priests;

5 A zaria, fiul lui Natan, era mai mare peste îngrijitori. Zabud, fiul lui Natan era slujbaş de stat, cirac al împăratului;

Azariah the son of Nathan, over the officers; Zabud the son of Nathan, a priest and the king’s friend;

6 A hişar era mai mare peste casa împăratului; şi Adoniram, fiul lui Abda, era mai mare peste dări.

Ahishar, over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda, over the labor force.

7 S olomon avea doisprezece îngrijitori peste tot Israelul. Ei îngrijeau de hrana împăratului şi a casei lui, fiecare timp de o lună din an.

And Solomon had twelve governors over all Israel, who provided food for the king and his household; each one made provision for one month of the year.

8 I ată-le numele: Fiul lui Hur, în muntele lui Efraim.

These are their names: Ben-Hur, in the mountains of Ephraim;

9 F iul lui Decher, la Macaţ, la Saalbim, la Bet-Şemeş, la Elon şi la Bet-Hanan.

Ben-Deker, in Makaz, Shaalbim, Beth Shemesh, and Elon Beth Hanan;

10 F iul lui Hesed, la Arubot; el avea Soco şi toată ţara Hefer.

Ben-Hesed, in Arubboth; to him belonged Sochoh and all the land of Hepher;

11 F iul lui Abinadab avea tot ţinutul Dorului. Tafat, fata lui Solomon, era nevasta lui.

Ben-Abinadab, in all the regions of Dor; he had Taphath the daughter of Solomon as wife;

12 B aana, fiul lui Ahilud, avea Taanac şi Meghido, şi tot Bet-Şeanul de lîngă Ţartan subt Izreel, dela Bet-Şean pînă la Abel-Mehola, pînă dincolo de Iocmeam.

Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach, Megiddo, and all Beth Shean, which is beside Zaretan below Jezreel, from Beth Shean to Abel Meholah, as far as the other side of Jokneam;

13 F iul lui Gheber, la Ramot din Galaad; el avea tîrgurile lui Iair, fiul lui Manase, în Galaad; mai avea şi ţinutul Argob în Basan, şasezeci cetăţi mari cu ziduri şi zăvoare de aramă.

Ben-Geber, in Ramoth Gilead; to him belonged the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, in Gilead; to him also belonged the region of Argob in Bashan—sixty large cities with walls and bronze gate-bars;

14 A hinadab, fiul lui Ido, la Mahanaim.

Ahinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;

15 A himaaţ, în Neftali. El luase de nevastă pe Basmat, fata lui Solomon.

Ahimaaz, in Naphtali; he also took Basemath the daughter of Solomon as wife;

16 B aana, fiul lui Huşai, în Aşer şi la Bealot.

Baanah the son of Hushai, in Asher and Aloth;

17 I osafat, fiul lui Paruah, în Isahar.

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar;

18 Ş imei, fiul lui Ela, în Beniamin.

Shimei the son of Elah, in Benjamin;

19 G heber, fiul lui Uri, în ţara Galaadului; el avea ţinutul lui Sihon, împăratul Amoriţilor şi al lui Og, împăratul Basanului. Era un singur îngrijitor în ţara aceasta.

Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, in the country of Sihon king of the Amorites, and of Og king of Bashan. He was the only governor who was in the land. Prosperity and Wisdom of Solomon’s Reign

20 I uda şi Israel erau în număr foarte mare, ca nisipul de pe ţărmul mării. Ei mîncau, beau şi se veseleau.

Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and rejoicing.

21 S olomon mai stăpînea şi toate împărăţiile dela Rîu pînă în ţara Filistenilor şi pînă la hotarul Egiptului. Ei îi aduceau daruri, şi au fost supuşi lui Solomon tot timpul vieţii lui.

So Solomon reigned over all kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, as far as the border of Egypt. They brought tribute and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 Î n fiecare zi Solomon mînca: treizeci de cori de floare de făină, şi şasezeci de cori de altă făină,

Now Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty kors of fine flour, sixty kors of meal,

23 z ece boi graşi, douăzeci de boi de păscut, şi o sută de oi, afară de cerbi, căprioare, ciute şi păsări îngrăşate.

ten fatted oxen, twenty oxen from the pastures, and one hundred sheep, besides deer, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl.

24 S tăpînea peste toată ţara de dincoace de Rîu, dela Tifsah pînă la Gaza, peste toţi împărăţii de dincoace de Rîu. Şi avea pace pretutindeni de jur împrejur.

For he had dominion over all the region on this side of the River from Tiphsah even to Gaza, namely over all the kings on this side of the River; and he had peace on every side all around him.

25 I uda şi Israel, dela Dan pînă la Beer-Şeba, au locuit în linişte fiecare subt via lui şi subt smochinul lui, în tot timpul lui Solomon.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, each man under his vine and his fig tree, from Dan as far as Beersheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 S olomon avea patruzeci de mii de iesle pentru caii de la carăle lui, şi douăsprezece mii de călăreţi.

Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

27 Î ngrijitorii îngrijeau de hrana împăratului Solomon şi a tuturor celor ce se apropiau de masa lui, fiecare în luna lui; şi nu lăsau să fie vreo lipsă.

And these governors, each man in his month, provided food for King Solomon and for all who came to King Solomon’s table. There was no lack in their supply.

28 A duceau şi orz şi paie pentru armăsari şi fugari, în locul unde se afla împăratul, fiecare după poruncile pe cari le primise.

They also brought barley and straw to the proper place, for the horses and steeds, each man according to his charge.

29 D umnezeu a dat lui Solomon înţelepciune, foarte mare pricepere, şi cunoştinţe multe ca nisipul de pe ţărmul mării.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and exceedingly great understanding, and largeness of heart like the sand on the seashore.

30 Î nţelepciunea lui Solomon întrecea înţelepciunea tuturor fiilor Răsăritului şi toată înţelepciunea Egiptenilor.

Thus Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the men of the East and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 E l era mai înţelept decît orice om, mai mult decît Etan, Ezrahitul, mai mult decît Heman, Calcol şi Darda, fiii lui Mahol; şi faima lui se răspîndise printre toate neamurile, deprimprejur.

For he was wiser than all men—than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol; and his fame was in all the surrounding nations.

32 A rostit trei mii de pilde, şi a alcătuit o mie cinci cîntări.

He spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were one thousand and five.

33 A vorbit despre copaci, dela cedrul din Liban pînă la isopul care creşte pe zid, a vorbit deasemenea despre dobitoace, despre pasări, despre tîrîtoare şi despre peşti.

Also he spoke of trees, from the cedar tree of Lebanon even to the hyssop that springs out of the wall; he spoke also of animals, of birds, of creeping things, and of fish.

34 V eneau oameni din toate popoarele să asculte înţelepciunea lui Solomon, din partea tuturor împăraţilor pămîntului cari auziseră vorbindu-se de înţelepciunea lui.

And men of all nations, from all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom, came to hear the wisdom of Solomon.
