1 D upă moartea lui Moise, robul Domnului, Domnul a zis lui Iosua, fiul lui Nun, slujitorul lui Moise:

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying:

2 R obul Meu Moise a murit: acum, scoală-te, treci Iordanul acesta, tu şi tot poporul acesta, şi intraţi în ţara pe care o dau copiilor lui Israel.

“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel.

3 O rice loc pe care -l va călca talpa piciorului vostru, vi -l dau, cum am spus lui Moise.

Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.

4 Ţ inutul vostru se va întinde dela pustie şi Liban pînă la rîul cel mare, rîul Eufrat, toată ţara Hetiţilor, şi pînă la marea cea mare, spre apusul soarelui.

From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory.

5 N imeni nu va putea să stea împotriva ta, cît vei trăi. Eu voi fi cu tine, cum am fost cu Moise; nu te voi lăsa, nici nu te voi părăsi.

No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.

6 Î ntăreşte-te şi îmbărbătează-te, căci tu vei da în stăpînire poporului acestuia ţara pe care am jurat părinţilor lor că le -o voi da.

Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.

7 Î ntăreşte-te numai, şi îmbărbătează-te, lucrînd cu credincioşie după toată legea pe care ţi -a dat -o robul Meu Moise; nu te abate dela ea nici la dreapta nici la stînga, ca să isbuteşti în tot ce vei face.

Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

8 C artea aceasta a legii să nu se depărteze de gura ta; cugetă asupra ei zi şi noapte, căutînd să faci tot ce este scris în ea; căci atunci vei izbîndi în toate lucrările tale, şi atunci vei lucra cu înţelepciune.

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

9 N u ţi-am dat Eu oare porunca aceasta:,Întăreşte-te şi îmbărbătează-te? Nu te înspăimînta şi nu te îngrozi, căci Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, este cu tine în tot ce vei face.``

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” The Order to Cross the Jordan

10 I osua a dat căpeteniilor oştirii poporului următoarea poruncă:

Then Joshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,

11 T receţi prin tabără, şi iată ce să porunciţi poporului:, Pregătiţi-vă merinde, căci peste trei zile veţi trece Iordanul acesta ca să mergeţi să cuceriţi ţara, pe care v'o dă în stăpînire Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru.``

“Pass through the camp and command the people, saying, ‘Prepare provisions for yourselves, for within three days you will cross over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land which the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’”

12 I osua a zis Rubeniţilor, Gadiţilor şi jumătăţii din seminţia lui Manase:

And to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh Joshua spoke, saying,

13 A duceţi-vă aminte ce v'a poruncit Moise, robul Domnului, cînd a zis:, Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru, v'a dat odihnă, şi v'a dat ţara aceasta.

“Remember the word which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, saying, ‘The Lord your God is giving you rest and is giving you this land.’

14 N evestele voastre, pruncii voştri şi vitele voastre să rămînă în ţara pe care v'a dat -o Moise dincoace de Iordan; dar voi toţi bărbaţii voinici, să treceţi înarmaţi înaintea fraţilor voştri, şi să -i ajutaţi,

Your wives, your little ones, and your livestock shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side of the Jordan. But you shall pass before your brethren armed, all your mighty men of valor, and help them,

15 p înă ce Domnul va da odihnă fraţilor voştri ca şi vouă, şi pînă ce vor fi şi ei în stăpînirea ţării pe care le -o dă Domnul, Dumnezeul vostru. Apoi să vă întoarceţi să stăpîniţi ţara care este moşia voastră, şi pe care v'a dat -o Moise, robul Domnului, dincoace de Iordan, spre răsăritul soarelui.``

until the Lord has given your brethren rest, as He gave you, and they also have taken possession of the land which the Lord your God is giving them. Then you shall return to the land of your possession and enjoy it, which Moses the Lord ’s servant gave you on this side of the Jordan toward the sunrise.”

16 E i au răspuns lui Iosua, şi au zis:,, Vom face tot ce ne-ai poruncit, şi ne vom duce ori unde ne vei trimete.

So they answered Joshua, saying, “All that you command us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go.

17 T e vom asculta în totul, cum am ascultat pe Moise. Numai Domnul, Dumnezeul tău, să fie cu tine, cum a fost cu Moise!

Just as we heeded Moses in all things, so we will heed you. Only the Lord your God be with you, as He was with Moses.

18 O rice om care se va răzvrăti împotriva poruncii tale, şi care nu va asculta de tot ce -i vei porunci, să fie pedepsit cu moartea! Întăreşte-te numai, şi îmbărbătează-te!``

Whoever rebels against your command and does not heed your words, in all that you command him, shall be put to death. Only be strong and of good courage.”
