1 “ You are the sons of the Lord your God; you shall not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.

¶ Hijos sois del SEÑOR vuestro Dios: no os sajaréis, ni pondréis calva sobre vuestros ojos por muerto;

2 F or you are a holy people to the Lord your God, and the Lord has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

porque eres pueblo santo al SEÑOR tu Dios, y el SEÑOR te ha escogido para que le seas un pueblo único de entre todos los pueblos que están sobre la faz de la tierra.

3 “ You shall not eat any detestable thing.

Nada abominable comerás.

4 T hese are the animals which you may eat: the ox, the sheep, the goat,

Estos son los animales que comeréis: el buey, la oveja, y la cabra,

5 t he deer, the gazelle, the roebuck, the wild goat, the ibex, the antelope and the mountain sheep.

el ciervo, el corzo, y el búfalo, y el cabrío salvaje, y el unicornio (rinoceronte), y el buey salvaje, y la cabra montés.

6 A ny animal that divides the hoof and has the hoof split in two and chews the cud, among the animals, that you may eat.

Todo animal de pezuñas, que tiene hendidura de dos uñas, y que rumiare entre los animales, ese comeréis.

7 N evertheless, you are not to eat of these among those which chew the cud, or among those that divide the hoof in two: the camel and the rabbit and the shaphan, for though they chew the cud, they do not divide the hoof; they are unclean for you.

Pero éstos no comeréis de los que rumian, o tienen uña hendida: camello, y liebre, y conejo, porque rumian, mas no tienen uña hendida, os serán inmundos;

8 T he pig, because it divides the hoof but does not chew the cud, it is unclean for you. You shall not eat any of their flesh nor touch their carcasses.

ni puerco, porque tiene uña hendida, mas no rumia, os será inmundo. De la carne de éstos no comeréis, ni tocaréis sus cuerpos muertos.

9 “ These you may eat of all that are in water: anything that has fins and scales you may eat,

Esto comeréis de todo lo que está en el agua: todo lo que tiene aleta y escama comeréis;

10 b ut anything that does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.

mas todo lo que no tuviere aleta y escama, no comeréis; inmundo os será.

11 “ You may eat any clean bird.

Toda ave limpia comeréis.

12 B ut these are the ones which you shall not eat: the eagle and the vulture and the buzzard,

Y éstas son de las que no comeréis: el águila, el azor, el esmerejón,

13 a nd the red kite, the falcon, and the kite in their kinds,

el ixio, el buitre, y el milano de toda especie,

14 a nd every raven in its kind,

y toda especie de cuervo,

15 a nd the ostrich, the owl, the sea gull, and the hawk in their kinds,

el avestruz, el mochuelo, la garceta, y el gavilán de toda especie,

16 t he little owl, the great owl, the white owl,

el halcón, la lechuza, el calamón,

17 t he pelican, the carrion vulture, the cormorant,

el cisne, el pelícano, la gaviota,

18 t he stork, and the heron in their kinds, and the hoopoe and the bat.

la cigüeña, y toda especie de cuervo marino, la abubilla, y el murciélago.

19 A nd all the teeming life with wings are unclean to you; they shall not be eaten.

Y toda serpiente de alas os será inmunda; no se comerá.

20 Y ou may eat any clean bird.

Toda ave limpia comeréis.

21 “ You shall not eat anything which dies of itself. You may give it to the alien who is in your town, so that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner, for you are a holy people to the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in its mother’s milk.

Ninguna cosa mortecina comeréis; al extranjero que está en tus poblaciones la darás, y él la comerá; o véndela al extranjero; porque tú eres pueblo santo al SEÑOR tu Dios. No cocerás el cabrito en la leche de su madre.

22 “ You shall surely tithe all the produce from what you sow, which comes out of the field every year.

¶ Indispensablemente diezmarás todo el producto de tu simiente, que rindiere tu campo cada año.

23 Y ou shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God, at the place where He chooses to establish His name, the tithe of your grain, your new wine, your oil, and the firstborn of your herd and your flock, so that you may learn to fear the Lord your God always.

Y comerás delante del SEÑOR tu Dios en el lugar que él escogiere para hacer habitar allí su nombre, el diezmo de tu grano, de tu vino, y de tu aceite, y los primerizos de tus vacas, y de tus ovejas, para que aprendas a temer al SEÑOR tu Dios todos los días.

24 I f the distance is so great for you that you are not able to bring the tithe, since the place where the Lord your God chooses to set His name is too far away from you when the Lord your God blesses you,

Y si el camino fuere tan largo que tú no puedas llevarlos por él, por estar lejos de ti el lugar que el SEÑOR tu Dios hubiere escogido para poner en él su nombre, cuando el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendijere,

25 t hen you shall exchange it for money, and bind the money in your hand and go to the place which the Lord your God chooses.

entonces lo venderás, y atarás el dinero en tu mano, y vendrás al lugar que el SEÑOR tu Dios escogiere;

26 Y ou may spend the money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatever your heart desires; and there you shall eat in the presence of the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household.

y darás el dinero por todo lo que deseare tu alma, por vacas, o por ovejas, o por vino, o por sidra, o por cualquier cosa que tu alma te demandare; y comerás allí delante del SEÑOR tu Dios, y te alegrarás tú y tu casa.

27 A lso you shall not neglect the Levite who is in your town, for he has no portion or inheritance among you.

Y no desampararás al levita que habitare en tus poblaciones; porque no tiene parte ni heredad contigo.

28 “ At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town.

Al cabo de cada tres años sacarás todo el diezmo de tus productos de aquel año, y lo guardarás dentro de tus puertas.

29 T he Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do.

Y vendrá el levita, que no tiene parte ni heredad contigo, el extranjero, el huérfano, y la viuda, que hubiere en tus poblaciones, comerán y serán saciados; para que el SEÑOR tu Dios te bendiga en toda obra de tus manos que hicieres.
