1 N ebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, the height of which was sixty cubits and its width six cubits; he set it up on the plain of Dura in the province of Babylon.

El rey Nabucodonosor hizo una estatua de oro, la altura de la cual era de sesenta codos, su anchura de seis codos; la levantó en el campo de Dura, en la provincia de Babilonia.

2 T hen Nebuchadnezzar the king sent word to assemble the satraps, the prefects and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates and all the rulers of the provinces to come to the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

Y envió el rey Nabucodonosor a juntar los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, jueces, tesoreros, los del concejo, presidentes, y a todos los gobernadores de las provincias, para que vinieran a la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.

3 T hen the satraps, the prefects and the governors, the counselors, the treasurers, the judges, the magistrates and all the rulers of the provinces were assembled for the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

Fueron, pues, reunidos los grandes, los asistentes y capitanes, los oidores, receptores, los del concejo, los presidentes, y todos los gobernadores de las provincias, a la dedicación de la estatua que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado; y estaban en pie delante de la estatua que había levantado el rey Nabucodonosor.

4 T hen the herald loudly proclaimed: “To you the command is given, O peoples, nations and men of every language,

Y el pregonero pregonaba en alta voz: Mándase a vosotros, oh pueblos, naciones, y lenguas,

5 t hat at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe and all kinds of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king has set up.

al oír el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento musical, os postraréis y adoraréis la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor ha levantado:

6 B ut whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.”

y cualquiera que no se postrare y la adorare, en la misma hora será echado dentro de un horno de fuego ardiendo.

7 T herefore at that time, when all the peoples heard the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, bagpipe and all kinds of music, all the peoples, nations and men of every language fell down and worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. Worship of the Image Refused

Por lo cual, al oír todos los pueblos el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento músico, todos los pueblos, naciones, y lenguas, se postraron, y adoraron la estatua de oro que el rey Nabucodonosor había levantado.

8 F or this reason at that time certain Chaldeans came forward and brought charges against the Jews.

Por esto en el mismo tiempo algunos varones caldeos se llegaron, y denunciaron de los judíos.

9 T hey responded and said to Nebuchadnezzar the king: “ O king, live forever!

Hablando y diciendo al rey Nabucodonosor: rey, para siempre vive.

10 Y ou, O king, have made a decree that every man who hears the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery, and bagpipe and all kinds of music, is to fall down and worship the golden image.

Tú, oh rey, pusiste ley que todo hombre al oír el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento musical, se postrara y adorara la estatua de oro:

11 B ut whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire.

y el que no se postrara y la adorara, fuera echado dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

12 T here are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon, namely Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. These men, O king, have disregarded you; they do not serve your gods or worship the golden image which you have set up.”

Hay unos varones judíos, los cuales tú pusiste sobre los negocios de la provincia de Babilonia; Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; estos varones, oh rey, no han hecho cuenta de ti; no adoran tus dioses, no adoran la estatua de oro que tú levantaste.

13 T hen Nebuchadnezzar in rage and anger gave orders to bring Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego; then these men were brought before the king.

Entonces Nabucodonosor dijo con ira y con enojo que trajeran a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego. Luego fueron traídos estos varones delante del rey.

14 N ebuchadnezzar responded and said to them, “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up?

Habló Nabucodonosor, y les dijo: ¿Es verdad Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, que vosotros no honráis a mi dios, ni adoráis la estatua de oro que yo levanté?

15 N ow if you are ready, at the moment you hear the sound of the horn, flute, lyre, trigon, psaltery and bagpipe and all kinds of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, very well. But if you do not worship, you will immediately be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire; and what god is there who can deliver you out of my hands?”

Ahora, pues, ¿estáis prestos para que oyendo el son de la bocina, de la flauta, del tamboril, del arpa, del salterio, de la zampoña, y de todo instrumento de música, os postréis, y adoréis la estatua que yo hice? Porque si no la adorareis, en la misma hora seréis echados en medio del horno de fuego ardiendo; ¿y qué dios será aquel que os libre de mis manos?

16 S hadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego replied to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this matter.

Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego respondieron y dijeron al rey Nabucodonosor: no cuidamos de responderte sobre este negocio.

17 I f it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

He aquí, nuestro Dios a quien honramos, puede librarnos del horno de fuego ardiendo; y de tu mano, oh rey, nos librará.

18 B ut even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” Daniel’s Friends Protected

Y si no, sepas, oh rey, que a tu dios no adoraremos, y la estatua que tú levantaste, no honraremos.

19 T hen Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial expression was altered toward Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego. He answered by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.

Entonces Nabucodonosor fue lleno de ira, y se demudó la figura de su rostro sobre Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego; habló, y mandó que el horno se encendiera siete veces más de lo que cada vez solía.

20 H e commanded certain valiant warriors who were in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego in order to cast them into the furnace of blazing fire.

Y mandó a hombres muy vigorosos que tenía en su ejército, que ataran a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, para echarlos en el horno de fuego ardiendo.

21 T hen these men were tied up in their trousers, their coats, their caps and their other clothes, and were cast into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire.

Entonces estos varones fueron atados con sus mantos, sus calzas, sus turbantes, y sus vestidos, y fueron echados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

22 F or this reason, because the king’s command was urgent and the furnace had been made extremely hot, the flame of the fire slew those men who carried up Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego.

Porque la palabra del rey daba prisa, y había procurado que se encendiera mucho, la llama del fuego mató a aquellos hombres que habían alzado a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego.

23 B ut these three men, Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, fell into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire still tied up.

Y estos tres varones, Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, cayeron atados dentro del horno de fuego ardiendo.

24 T hen Nebuchadnezzar the king was astounded and stood up in haste; he said to his high officials, “Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?” They replied to the king, “Certainly, O king.”

Entonces Nabucodonosor se espantó, y se levantó aprisa, y habló, y dijo a los de su consejo: ¿No echamos tres varones atados dentro del fuego? Ellos respondieron y dijeron al rey: Es verdad, oh rey.

25 H e said, “Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods!”

Respondió él y dijo: He aquí que yo veo cuatro varones sueltos, que se pasean en medio del fuego, y ningún daño hay en ellos; y el parecer del cuarto es semejante al hijo de Dios.

26 T hen Nebuchadnezzar came near to the door of the furnace of blazing fire; he responded and said, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, come out, you servants of the Most High God, and come here!” Then Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego came out of the midst of the fire.

Entonces Nabucodonosor se acercó a la puerta del horno de fuego ardiendo, y habló y dijo: Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, siervos del alto Dios, salid y venid. Entonces Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, salieron de en medio del fuego.

27 T he satraps, the prefects, the governors and the king’s high officials gathered around and saw in regard to these men that the fire had no effect on the bodies of these men nor was the hair of their head singed, nor were their trousers damaged, nor had the smell of fire even come upon them.

Y se juntaron los grandes, los gobernadores, y los capitanes, y los del consejo del rey, para mirar a estos varones, cómo el fuego no se enseñoreó de sus cuerpos, ni el cabello de sus cabezas fue quemado, ni sus ropas se mudaron, ni olor de fuego pasó por ello.

28 N ebuchadnezzar responded and said, “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king’s command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god except their own God.

Nabucodonosor habló y dijo: Bendito el Dios de ellos, de Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, que envió su ángel, y libró a sus siervos que esperaron en él, y el mandamiento del rey mudaron, y entregaron sus cuerpos antes que sirvieran ni adoraran otro dios que su Dios.

29 T herefore I make a decree that any people, nation or tongue that speaks anything offensive against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego shall be torn limb from limb and their houses reduced to a rubbish heap, inasmuch as there is no other god who is able to deliver in this way.”

Por mí, pues, se pone decreto, que todo pueblo, nación, o lengua, que dijere blasfemia contra el Dios de Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego, sea descuartizado, y su casa sea puesta por muladar; por cuanto no hay otro dios que pueda librar como éste.

30 T hen the king caused Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego to prosper in the province of Babylon.

Entonces el rey ennobleció a Sadrac, Mesac, y Abed-nego en la provincia de Babilonia.
