1 A nd when King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes, covered himself with sackcloth and entered the house of the Lord.

Aconteció, pues, que el rey Ezequías, al oír esto, rasgó sus vestidos, y cubierto de cilicio vino a la Casa del SEÑOR.

2 T hen he sent Eliakim who was over the household with Shebna the scribe and the elders of the priests, covered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz.

Y envió a Eliacim mayordomo, y a Sebna escriba, y a los Ancianos de los Sacerdotes, cubiertos de cilicio, a Isaías, el profeta, hijo de Amoz.

3 T hey said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a day of distress, rebuke and rejection; for children have come to birth, and there is no strength to deliver.

Los cuales le dijeron: Ezequías dice así: Día de angustia, de reprensión y de blasfemia, es este día; porque los hijos han llegado hasta la rotura del agua, y no hay fuerza en la que da a luz.

4 P erhaps the Lord your God will hear the words of Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to reproach the living God, and will rebuke the words which the Lord your God has heard. Therefore, offer a prayer for the remnant that is left.’”

Quizá oirá el SEÑOR tu Dios las palabras de Rabsaces, al cual envió el rey de Asiria su señor a blasfemar al Dios vivo, y a reprender con las palabras, que oyó el SEÑOR tu Dios; alza pues, oración tú por el remanente que aún ha quedado.

5 S o the servants of King Hezekiah came to Isaiah.

Vinieron, pues, los siervos de Ezequías a Isaías.

6 I saiah said to them, “Thus you shall say to your master, ‘Thus says the Lord, “ Do not be afraid because of the words that you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have blasphemed Me.

Y les dijo Isaías: Diréis así a vuestro Señor: Así dice el SEÑOR: No temas por las palabras, que has oído, con las cuales me han blasfemado los siervos del rey de Asiria.

7 B ehold, I will put a spirit in him so that he will hear a rumor and return to his own land. And I will make him fall by the sword in his own land.”’”

He aquí, que yo doy en él un espíritu, y oirá un rumor, y se volverá a su tierra; y yo haré, que en su tierra caiga a espada.

8 T hen Rabshakeh returned and found the king of Assyria fighting against Libnah, for he had heard that the king had left Lachish.

Vuelto pues Rabsaces halló al rey de Asiria, que combatía contra Libna; porque ya había oído que se había apartado de Laquis.

9 W hen he heard them say concerning Tirhakah king of Cush, “He has come out to fight against you,” and when he heard it he sent messengers to Hezekiah, saying,

Mas oyendo decir de Tirhaca rey de Etiopía: He aquí que ha salido para hacerte guerra; al oírlo, envió mensajeros a Ezequías, diciendo:

10 “ Thus you shall say to Hezekiah king of Judah, ‘ Do not let your God in whom you trust deceive you, saying, “Jerusalem will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.”

Diréis así a Ezequías rey de Judá: No te engañe tu Dios, en quien tú confías, diciendo: Jerusalén no será entregada en mano del rey de Asiria.

11 B ehold, you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the lands, destroying them completely. So will you be spared?

He aquí, que tú oíste lo que hicieron los reyes de Asiria a todas las tierras, como las destruyeron; ¿y escaparás tú?

12 D id the gods of those nations which my fathers have destroyed deliver them, even Gozan and Haran and Rezeph and the sons of Eden who were in Telassar?

¿Libraron los dioses de los gentiles a los que destruyeron mis antepasados, a Gozán, Harán, Rezef, y a los hijos de Edén que moraban en Telasar?

13 W here is the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, the king of the city of Sepharvaim, and of Hena and Ivvah?’” Hezekiah’s Prayer in the Temple

¿Dónde está el rey de Hamat, el rey de Arfad, el rey de la ciudad de Sefarvaim, de Hena, y de Iva?

14 T hen Hezekiah took the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it, and he went up to the house of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord.

Y tomó Ezequías las cartas de mano de los mensajeros, y las leyó; y subió a la Casa del SEÑOR, y las extendió delante del SEÑOR.

15 H ezekiah prayed to the Lord saying,

Entonces Ezequías oró al SEÑOR, diciendo:

16 “ O Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim, You are the God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth.

El SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, que moras entre los querubines, sólo Tú eres Dios sobre todos los reinos de la tierra; tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra.

17 I ncline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and listen to all the words of Sennacherib, who sent them to reproach the living God.

Inclina, oh SEÑOR, tu oído, y oye; abre, oh SEÑOR, tus ojos, y mira; y oye todas las palabras de Senaquerib, el cual ha enviado sus mensajeros a blasfemar al Dios viviente.

18 T ruly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have devastated all the countries and their lands,

Ciertamente, oh SEÑOR, los reyes de Asiria destruyeron todas las tierras, y sus comarcas;

19 a nd have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. So they have destroyed them.

y a los dioses de ellos pusieron en fuego, porque no eran dioses, sino obra de manos de hombre, madera y piedra; por eso los deshicieron.

20 N ow, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, Lord, are God.” God Answers through Isaiah

Ahora pues, SEÑOR Dios nuestro, líbranos de su mano, para que todos los reinos de la tierra conozcan, que solo tú, oh SEÑOR, eres Dios.

21 T hen Isaiah the son of Amoz sent word to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘Because you have prayed to Me about Sennacherib king of Assyria,

Entonces Isaías hijo de Amoz, envió a decir a Ezequías: El SEÑOR Dios de Israel dice así: Acerca de lo que me rogaste sobre Senaquerib rey de Asiria,

22 t his is the word that the Lord has spoken against him: “She has despised you and mocked you, The virgin daughter of Zion; She has shaken her head behind you, The daughter of Jerusalem!

esto es lo que el SEÑOR habló de él: ¿Te ha menospreciado? Ha hecho escarnio de ti oh virgen hija de Sion? ¿Meneó su cabeza a tus espaldas oh hija de Jerusalén?

23 “ Whom have you reproached and blasphemed? And against whom have you raised your voice And haughtily lifted up your eyes? Against the Holy One of Israel!

¿A quién injuriaste, y a quién blasfemaste? ¿Contra quién has alzado tu voz, y levantado tus ojos en alto? Contra el Santo de Israel.

24 “ Through your servants you have reproached the Lord, And you have said, ‘With my many chariots I came up to the heights of the mountains, To the remotest parts of Lebanon; And I cut down its tall cedars and its choice cypresses. And I will go to its highest peak, its thickest forest.

Por mano de tus siervos vituperaste al Señor, y dijiste: Yo con la multitud de mis carros subiré a las alturas de los montes, a las laderas del Líbano; cortaré sus altos cedros, sus hayas escogidas; vendré después a lo alto de su límite, al monte de su Carmelo.

25 ‘ I dug wells and drank waters, And with the sole of my feet I dried up All the rivers of Egypt.’

Yo cavé, y bebí las aguas; y con las pisadas de mis pies secaré todos los ríos de sustento.

26 “ Have you not heard? Long ago I did it, From ancient times I planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, That you should turn fortified cities into ruinous heaps.

¿No has oído decir, que de hace mucho tiempo yo la hice; que de días antiguos yo la formé? Ahora la he hecho venir, y será para destrucción de ciudades fuertes en montones de asolamiento.

27 “ Therefore their inhabitants were short of strength, They were dismayed and put to shame; They were as the vegetation of the field and as the green herb, As grass on the housetops is scorched before it is grown up.

Y sus moradores, cortos de manos, quebrantados y avergonzados, serán como grama del campo y hortaliza verde; como hierba de los tejados, que antes de madurar se seca.

28 “ But I know your sitting down And your going out and your coming in And your raging against Me.

He entendido tu estado, tu salida y tu entrada: y tu furor contra mí.

29 “ Because of your raging against Me And because your arrogance has come up to My ears, Therefore I will put My hook in your nose And My bridle in your lips, And I will turn you back by the way which you came.

Porque contra mí te airaste, y tu estruendo ha subido a mis oídos. Pondré, pues, mi anzuelo en tu nariz, y mi freno en tus labios, y te haré tornar por el camino por donde viniste.

30 “ Then this shall be the sign for you: you will eat this year what grows of itself, in the second year what springs from the same, and in the third year sow, reap, plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

Y esto te será por señal: Comerás este año lo que nace de suyo, y el año segundo también lo que nace de suyo; y el año tercero sembraréis, y segaréis, y plantaréis viñas, y comeréis su fruto.

31 T he surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root downward and bear fruit upward.

Y lo que hubiere escapado de la casa de Judá, tornará a echar raíz abajo, y hará fruto arriba.

32 F or out of Jerusalem will go forth a remnant and out of Mount Zion survivors. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.”’

Porque de Jerusalén saldrá remanente, y del Monte de Sion escapadura; el celo del SEÑOR de los ejércitos hará esto.

33 “ Therefore, thus says the Lord concerning the king of Assyria, ‘He will not come to this city or shoot an arrow there; and he will not come before it with a shield, or throw up a siege ramp against it.

Por tanto, así dice el SEÑOR acerca del rey de Asiria: No entrará en esta ciudad, ni echará saeta en ella; no vendrá delante de ella escudo, ni será echado sobre ella baluarte.

34 B y the way that he came, by the same he will return, and he will not come to this city,’ declares the Lord.

Por el camino que vino, se tornará; y no entrará en esta ciudad, dice el SEÑOR:

35 ‘ For I will defend this city to save it for My own sake and for My servant David’s sake.’” Assyrians Destroyed

Y yo ampararé a esta ciudad para salvarla por amor de mí, y por amor de David mi siervo.

36 T hen the angel of the Lord went out and struck 185, 000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men arose early in the morning, behold, all of these were dead.

Y salió el Angel del SEÑOR, y mató ciento ochenta y cinco mil, en el campo de los asirios; y cuando se levantaron por la mañana, he aquí que todo era cuerpos de muertos.

37 S o Sennacherib king of Assyria departed and returned home and lived at Nineveh.

Entonces Senaquerib rey de Asiria partiéndose se fue, y se tornó, e hizo su morada en Nínive.

38 I t came about as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons killed him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son became king in his place.

Y acaeció, que estando orando en el templo de Nisroc su dios, Adramelec y Sarezer, sus hijos, le hirieron a espada; y huyeron a la tierra de Ararat; y reinó en su lugar Esar-hadón su hijo.
