1 N ow the man had relations with his wife Eve, and she conceived and gave birth to Cain, and she said, “I have gotten a manchild with the help of the Lord.”

¶ Y el hombre conoció a su mujer Eva, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Caín, y dijo: He ganado varón por el SEÑOR.

2 A gain, she gave birth to his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of flocks, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

Y otra vez dio a luz a su hermano Abel. Y fue Abel pastor de ovejas, y Caín fue labrador de la tierra.

3 S o it came about in the course of time that Cain brought an offering to the Lord of the fruit of the ground.

¶ Y aconteció andando el tiempo, que Caín trajo del fruto de la tierra presente al SEÑOR.

4 A bel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and for his offering;

Y Abel trajo también de los primogénitos de sus ovejas, y de su grosura. Y miró el SEÑOR a Abel y a su presente;

5 b ut for Cain and for his offering He had no regard. So Cain became very angry and his countenance fell.

y a Caín y a su presente no miró. Y se ensañó Caín en gran manera, y decayó su semblante.

6 T hen the Lord said to Cain, “ Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen?

¶ Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Caín: ¿Por qué te has ensañado, y por qué se ha inmutado tu rostro?

7 I f you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it.”

Cierto que si bien hicieres, será acepto; y si no hicieres bien, a las puertas duerme el pecado, y a ti será su deseo, mas tú debes enseñorearte de él.

8 C ain told Abel his brother. And it came about when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.

¶ Y habló Caín a su hermano Abel; y aconteció que estando ellos en el campo, Caín se levantó contra su hermano Abel, y le mató.

9 T hen the Lord said to Cain, “ Where is Abel your brother?” And he said, “I do not know. Am I my brother’s keeper?”

¶ Y El SEÑOR dijo a Caín: ¿Dónde está Abel tu hermano? Y él respondió: No sé; ¿soy yo guarda de mi hermano?

10 H e said, “What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to Me from the ground.

Y él le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? La voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a mí desde la tierra.

11 N ow you are cursed from the ground, which has opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

Ahora pues, maldito seas tú de la tierra que abrió su boca para recibir la sangre de tu hermano de tu mano:

12 W hen you cultivate the ground, it will no longer yield its strength to you; you will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth.”

Cuando labrares la tierra, no te volverá a dar su fuerza; fugitivo y vagabundo serás en la tierra.

13 C ain said to the Lord, “My punishment is too great to bear!

¶ Y dijo Caín al SEÑOR: Grande es mi iniquidad para ser soportada.

14 B ehold, You have driven me this day from the face of the ground; and from Your face I will be hidden, and I will be a vagrant and a wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

He aquí me echas hoy de la faz de la tierra, y de tu presencia me esconderé; y seré fugitivo y vagabundo en la tierra; y será que cualquiera que me hallare, me matará.

15 S o the Lord said to him, “Therefore whoever kills Cain, vengeance will be taken on him sevenfold.” And the Lord appointed a sign for Cain, so that no one finding him would slay him.

Y le respondió el SEÑOR: Cierto que cualquiera que matare a Caín, siete veces será castigado. Entonces el SEÑOR puso señal en Caín, para que no lo hiriera cualquiera que le hallara.

16 T hen Cain went out from the presence of the Lord, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

¶ Y salió Caín de delante del SEÑOR, y habitó en tierra de Nod, al oriente de Edén.

17 C ain had relations with his wife and she conceived, and gave birth to Enoch; and he built a city, and called the name of the city Enoch, after the name of his son.

Y conoció Caín a su mujer, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Enoc; y edificó una ciudad, y llamó el nombre de la ciudad del nombre de su hijo, Enoc.

18 N ow to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad became the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael became the father of Methushael, and Methushael became the father of Lamech.

Y a Enoc nació Irad, e Irad engendró a Mehujael, y Mehujael engendró a Metusael, y Metusael engendró a Lamec.

19 L amech took to himself two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other, Zillah.

¶ Y tomó para sí Lamec dos mujeres: el nombre de la una fue Ada, y el nombre de la otra Zila.

20 A dah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and have livestock.

Y Ada dio a luz a Jabal, el cual fue padre de los que habitan en tiendas, y crían ganados.

21 H is brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the lyre and pipe.

Y el nombre de su hermano fue Jubal, el cual fue padre de todos los que tocan arpa y órgano.

22 A s for Zillah, she also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the forger of all implements of bronze and iron; and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.

Y Zila también dio a luz a Tubal-Caín, acicalador de toda obra de bronce y de hierro: y la hermana de Tubal-Caín fue Naama.

23 L amech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah, Listen to my voice, You wives of Lamech, Give heed to my speech, For I have killed a man for wounding me; And a boy for striking me;

¶ Y dijo Lamec a sus mujeres: Ada y Zila, oíd mi voz; mujeres de Lamec, escuchad mi dicho: Que varón mataré por mi herida, y un joven por mi golpe;

24 I f Cain is avenged sevenfold, Then Lamech seventy-sevenfold.”

que siete veces será vengado Caín, mas Lamec setenta veces siete.

25 A dam had relations with his wife again; and she gave birth to a son, and named him Seth, for, she said, “God has appointed me another offspring in place of Abel, for Cain killed him.”

¶ Y conoció aún Adán a su mujer, la cual dio a luz un hijo, y llamó su nombre Set; porque Dios (dijo ella) me ha dado otra simiente por Abel, al cual mató Caín.

26 T o Seth, to him also a son was born; and he called his name Enosh. Then men began to call upon the name of the Lord.

Y a Set también le nació un hijo, y llamó su nombre Enós. Entonces comenzó a ser invocado el nombre del SEÑOR.
