1 B etter is a poor man who walks in his integrity Than he who is perverse in speech and is a fool.

2 A lso it is not good for a person to be without knowledge, And he who hurries his footsteps errs.
¶ El alma sin sabiduría no es buena; y el presuroso de pies peca.
3 T he foolishness of man ruins his way, And his heart rages against the Lord.
¶ La locura del hombre tuerce su camino; y contra el SEÑOR se aíra su corazón.
4 W ealth adds many friends, But a poor man is separated from his friend.
¶ Las riquezas atraen muchos amigos; mas el pobre, de su amigo es apartado.
5 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will not escape.
¶ El testigo falso no será absuelto; y el que habla mentiras no escapará.
6 M any will seek the favor of a generous man, And every man is a friend to him who gives gifts.
¶ Muchos rogarán al príncipe; mas cada uno es amigo del hombre que da dones.
7 A ll the brothers of a poor man hate him; How much more do his friends abandon him! He pursues them with words, but they are gone.
Todos los hermanos del pobre le aborrecen; ¡cuánto más sus amigos se alejarán de él! Buscará la amistad y no la hallará.
8 H e who gets wisdom loves his own soul; He who keeps understanding will find good.
¶ El que posee entendimiento, ama su alma; guarda la inteligencia, para hallar el bien.
9 A false witness will not go unpunished, And he who tells lies will perish.
¶ El testigo falso no quedará sin castigo; y el que habla mentiras, perecerá.
10 L uxury is not fitting for a fool; Much less for a slave to rule over princes.
¶ No conviene al loco el deleite; ¡cuánto menos al siervo ser señor de los príncipes!
11 A man’s discretion makes him slow to anger, And it is his glory to overlook a transgression.
¶ El entendimiento del hombre detiene su furor; y su honra es disimular la ofensa.
12 T he king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion, But his favor is like dew on the grass.
¶ Como el bramido del cachorro de león es la ira del rey; y su favor como el rocío sobre la hierba.
13 A foolish son is destruction to his father, And the contentions of a wife are a constant dripping.
¶ Dolor es para su padre el hijo loco; y gotera continua las contiendas de la mujer.
14 H ouse and wealth are an inheritance from fathers, But a prudent wife is from the Lord.
¶ La casa y las riquezas herencia son de los padres; mas del SEÑOR la mujer prudente.
15 L aziness casts into a deep sleep, And an idle man will suffer hunger.
¶ La pereza hace caer en sueño; y el alma negligente hambreará.
16 H e who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of conduct will die.
¶ El que guarda el mandamiento, guarda su alma; mas el que menos-preciare sus caminos, morirá.
17 O ne who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, And He will repay him for his good deed.
¶ Al SEÑOR presta el que da al pobre, y él le dará su paga.
18 D iscipline your son while there is hope, And do not desire his death.
¶ Castiga a tu hijo en tanto que hay esperanza; mas no se excite tu alma para destruirlo.
19 A man of great anger will bear the penalty, For if you rescue him, you will only have to do it again.
¶ El de grande ira llevará la pena; porque aun si lo librares seguirá lo mismo.
20 L isten to counsel and accept discipline, That you may be wise the rest of your days.
¶ Escucha el consejo, y recibe el castigo, para que seas sabio en tu vejez.
21 M any plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
¶ Muchos pensamientos hay en el corazón del hombre; mas el consejo del SEÑOR permanecerá.
22 W hat is desirable in a man is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor man than a liar.
¶ Contentamiento es a los hombres hacer misericordia; pero es mejor hacerla al pobre que al mentiroso.
23 T he fear of the Lord leads to life, So that one may sleep satisfied, untouched by evil.
¶ El temor del SEÑOR es para vida; el que lo tenga vivirá satisfecho; no será visitado de mal.
24 T he sluggard buries his hand in the dish, But will not even bring it back to his mouth.
¶ El perezoso esconde su mano en el seno; aun a su boca no la llevará.
25 S trike a scoffer and the naive may become shrewd, But reprove one who has understanding and he will gain knowledge.
¶ Hiere al burlador, y el simple se hará prudente; y corrigiendo al entendido, entenderá ciencia.
26 H e who assaults his father and drives his mother away Is a shameful and disgraceful son.
¶ El que roba a su padre y ahuyenta a su madre, es hijo avergonzador y deshonrador.
27 C ease listening, my son, to discipline, And you will stray from the words of knowledge.
¶ Cesa, hijo mío, de oír la enseñanza que induce a divagar de las razones de sabiduría.
28 A rascally witness makes a mockery of justice, And the mouth of the wicked spreads iniquity.
¶ El testigo de Belial se burlará del juicio; y la boca de los impíos encubrirá la iniquidad.
29 J udgments are prepared for scoffers, And blows for the back of fools.
¶ Aparejados están juicios para los burladores, y azotes para los cuerpos de los locos.
