1 T hree years passed without war between Aram and Israel.

2 I n the third year Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel.

Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel.

3 N ow the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, and we are still doing nothing to take it out of the hand of the king of Aram?”

Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que es nuestra Ramot de Galaad? Y nosotros estamos quedados a tomarla de mano del rey de Siria.

4 A nd he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle at Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “ I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

Y dijo a Josafat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? Y Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: Como yo, así tú; y como mi pueblo, así tu pueblo; y como mis caballos, tus caballos.

5 M oreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of the Lord.”

Y dijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra del SEÑOR.

6 T hen the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle or shall I refrain?” And they said, “Go up, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”

Entonces el rey de Israel juntó los profetas, como cuatrocientos varones, a los cuales dijo: ¿Iré a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaré? Y ellos dijeron: Sube; porque el Señor la entregará en mano del rey.

7 B ut Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not yet a prophet of the Lord here that we may inquire of him?”

Y dijo Josafat: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta del SEÑOR, por el cual consultemos?

8 T he king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” But Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say so.”

Y el rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: Aun hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar al SEÑOR, Micaías, hijo de Imla; mas yo le aborrezco porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal. Y Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

9 T hen the king of Israel called an officer and said, “ Bring quickly Micaiah son of Imlah.”

Entonces el rey de Israel llamó a un eunuco, y le dijo: trae presto a Micaías hijo de Imla.

10 N ow the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting each on his throne, arrayed in their robes, at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.

Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

11 T hen Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made horns of iron for himself and said, “Thus says the Lord, ‘ With these you will gore the Arameans until they are consumed.’”

Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaana se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Con éstos acornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos.

12 A ll the prophets were prophesying thus, saying, “Go up to Ramoth-gilead and prosper, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.” Micaiah Predicts Defeat

Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; que el SEÑOR la dará en mano del rey.

13 T hen the messenger who went to summon Micaiah spoke to him saying, “Behold now, the words of the prophets are uniformly favorable to the king. Please let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably.”

Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Micaías, le habló, diciendo: He aquí las palabras de los profetas a una boca anuncian al rey bien; sea ahora tu palabra conforme a la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia bien.

14 B ut Micaiah said, “ As the Lord lives, what the Lord says to me, that I shall speak.”

Y Micaías respondió: Vive el SEÑOR, que todo lo que el SEÑOR me hablare, eso diré.

15 W hen he came to the king, the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we refrain?” And he answered him, “ Go up and succeed, and the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.”

Vino, pues, al rey, y el rey le dijo: Micaías, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaremos? Y él respondió: Sube, que serás prosperado, y el SEÑOR la entregará en mano del rey.

16 T hen the king said to him, “How many times must I adjure you to speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord ?”

Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces he de conjurarte que no me digas sino la verdad en el nombre del SEÑOR?

17 S o he said, “I saw all Israel Scattered on the mountains, Like sheep which have no shepherd. And the Lord said, ‘These have no master. Let each of them return to his house in peace.’”

Entonces él dijo: Yo vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor; y el SEÑOR dijo: Estos no tienen señor: vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz.

18 T hen the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “ Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente mal.

19 M icaiah said, “Therefore, hear the word of the Lord. I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by Him on His right and on His left.

Entonces él dijo: Oye, pues, palabra del SEÑOR: Yo vi al SEÑOR sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su diestra y a su siniestra.

20 T he Lord said, ‘Who will entice Ahab to go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?’ And one said this while another said that.

Y el SEÑOR dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Y uno decía de una manera; y otro decía de otra.

21 T hen a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will entice him.’

Y salió un espíritu, y se puso delante del SEÑOR, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y el SEÑOR le dijo: ¿De qué manera?

22 T he Lord said to him, ‘How?’ And he said, ‘I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ Then He said, ‘You are to entice him and also prevail. Go and do so.’

Y él dijo: Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas. Y él dijo: Le inducirás, y aun prevalecerás; sal pues, y hazlo así.

23 N ow therefore, behold, the Lord has put a deceiving spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; and the Lord has proclaimed disaster against you.”

Y ahora, he aquí el SEÑOR ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos estos tus profetas, y el SEÑOR ha decretado mal acerca de ti.

24 T hen Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “ How did the Spirit of the Lord pass from me to speak to you?”

Entonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaana, e hirió a Micaías en la mejilla, diciendo: ¿Por dónde se fue de mí el espíritu del SEÑOR para hablarte a ti?

25 M icaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day when you enter an inner room to hide yourself.”

Y Micaías respondió: He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te vayas metiendo de cámara en cámara para esconderte.

26 T hen the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;

Entonces el rey de Israel dijo: Toma a Micaías, y llévalo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joas hijo del rey;

27 a nd say, ‘Thus says the king, “ Put this man in prison and feed him sparingly with bread and water until I return safely.”’”

y dirás: Así dijo el rey: Echad a éste en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de angustia, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.

28 M icaiah said, “ If you indeed return safely the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “ Listen, all you people.” Defeat and Death of Ahab

Y dijo Micaías: Si llegares a volver en paz, el SEÑOR no ha hablado por mí. En seguida dijo: Oíd, pueblos todos.

29 S o the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah went up against Ramoth-gilead.

¶ Así subió el rey de Israel con Josafat rey de Judá a Ramot de Galaad.

30 T he king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “ I will disguise myself and go into the battle, but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into the battle.

Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré, y así entraré en la batalla; y tú vístete tus vestidos. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla.

31 N ow the king of Aram had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Do not fight with small or great, but with the king of Israel alone.”

Mas el rey de Siria había mandado a sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo: No peleéis vosotros ni con grande ni con chico, sino contra el rey de Israel.

32 S o when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel,” and they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out.

Y cuando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel; y vinieron contra él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josafat gritó.

33 W hen the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.

Viendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

34 N ow a certain man drew his bow at random and struck the king of Israel in a joint of the armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and take me out of the fight; for I am severely wounded.”

Mas un varón disparando su arco en su perfección, hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la cota; por lo que dijo él a su carretero: Da la vuelta, y sácame del campo, que estoy herido.

35 T he battle raged that day, and the king was propped up in his chariot in front of the Arameans, and died at evening, and the blood from the wound ran into the bottom of the chariot.

La batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los sirios, y a la tarde murió; y la sangre de la herida corría al fondo del carro.

36 T hen a cry passed throughout the army close to sunset, saying, “Every man to his city and every man to his country.”

Y a la puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campamento, diciendo: ¡Cada uno a su ciudad, y cada cual a su tierra!

37 S o the king died and was brought to Samaria, and they buried the king in Samaria.

Murió, pues, el rey, y fue traído a Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

38 T hey washed the chariot by the pool of Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood (now the harlots bathed themselves there ), according to the word of the Lord which He spoke.

Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; lavaron también sus armas; y los perros lamieron su sangre, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR que había hablado.

39 N ow the rest of the acts of Ahab and all that he did and the ivory house which he built and all the cities which he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?

Los demás hechos de Acab, y todas las cosas que hizo, y la casa de marfil que edificó, y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

40 S o Ahab slept with his fathers, and Ahaziah his son became king in his place. The New Rulers

Y durmió Acab con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Ocozías su hijo.

41 N ow Jehoshaphat the son of Asa became king over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

¶ Y Josafat hijo de Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab rey de Israel.

42 J ehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

Y era Josafat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azuba hija de Silhi.

43 H e walked in all the way of Asa his father; he did not turn aside from it, doing right in the sight of the Lord. However, the high places were not taken away; the people still sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.

Y anduvo en todo el camino de Asa su padre, sin declinar de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; porque aún el pueblo sacrificaba, y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

44 J ehoshaphat also made peace with the king of Israel.

Y Josafat hizo paz con el rey de Israel.

45 N ow the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, and his might which he showed and how he warred, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

Los demás hechos de Josafat, y sus valentías, y las guerras que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

46 T he remnant of the sodomites who remained in the days of his father Asa, he expelled from the land.

Barrió también de la tierra el resto de los prostitutos del culto pagano que habían quedado en el tiempo de su padre Asa.

47 N ow there was no king in Edom; a deputy was king.

No había entonces rey en Edom; presidente había en lugar de rey.

48 J ehoshaphat made ships of Tarshish to go to Ophir for gold, but they did not go for the ships were broken at Ezion-geber.

Había hecho Josafat navíos en Tarsis, los cuales habían de ir a Ofir por oro; mas no fueron, porque se rompieron en Ezión-geber.

49 T hen Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat was not willing.

Entonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat: Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en los navíos. Mas Josafat no quiso.

50 A nd Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of his father David, and Jehoram his son became king in his place.

Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David su padre; y en su lugar reinó Joram su hijo.

51 A haziah the son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and he reigned two years over Israel.

Y Ocozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat rey de Judá; y reinó dos años sobre Israel.

52 H e did evil in the sight of the Lord and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, y en el camino de su madre, y en el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, que hizo pecar a Israel;

53 S o he served Baal and worshiped him and provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.

porque sirvió a Baal, y lo adoró, y provocó a ira al SEÑOR Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que su padre había hecho.
