1 ¶ Tenía Noemí un pariente de parte de su marido, varón valiente y de esfuerzo, de la familia de Elimelec, el cual se llamaba Booz.

And Naomi hath an acquaintance of her husband's, a man mighty in wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name Boaz.

2 Y Rut la moabita dijo a Noemí: Te ruego que me dejes ir al campo, y cogeré espigas en pos de aquel en cuyos ojos hallare gracia. Y ella le respondió: Ve, hija mía.

And Ruth the Moabitess saith unto Naomi, `Let me go, I pray thee, into the field, and I gather among the ears of corn after him in whose eyes I find grace;' and she saith to her, `Go, my daughter.'

3 F ue pues, y llegando, espigó en el campo en pos de los segadores; y aconteció precisamente, que la suerte del campo era de Booz, el cual era de la parentela de Elimelec.

And she goeth and cometh and gathereth in a field after the reapers, and her chance happeneth -- the portion of the field is Boaz's who of the family of Elimelech.

4 ¶ Y he aquí que Booz vino de Belén, y dijo a los segadores: El SEÑOR sea con vosotros. Y ellos respondieron: El SEÑOR te bendiga.

And lo, Boaz hath come from Beth-Lehem, and saith to the reapers, `Jehovah with you;' and they say to him, `Jehovah doth bless thee.'

5 Y Booz dijo a su criado, el que estaba a cargo de los segadores: ¿De quién es esta joven?

And Boaz saith to his young man who is set over the reapers, `Whose this young person?'

6 Y el criado, que estaba a cargo de los segadores, respondió y dijo: Es la joven de Moab, que volvió con Noemí de los campos de Moab;

And the young man who is set over the reapers answereth and saith, `A young woman -- Moabitess -- she, who came back with Naomi from the fields of Moab,

7 y ha dicho: Te ruego que me dejes coger y juntar espigas tras los segadores entre las gavillas: entró pues, y está desde por la mañana hasta ahora, menos un poco que ha estado en casa.

and she saith, Let me glean, I pray thee -- and I have gathered among the sheaves after the reapers; and she cometh and remaineth since the morning and till now; she sat in the house a little.

8 E ntonces Booz dijo a Rut: Oye, hija mía, no vayas a coger a otro campo, ni te pases de aquí; y aquí estarás con mis criadas.

And Boaz saith unto Ruth, `Hast thou not heard, my daughter? go not to glean in another field, and also, pass not over from this, and thus thou dost cleave to my young women:

9 M ira bien el campo donde ellas segaren, y síguelas; porque yo he mandado a los criados que no te toquen. Y si tuvieres sed, ve a los vasos, y bebe del agua que sacaren los criados.

thine eyes on the field which they reap, and thou hast gone after them; have not I charged the young men not to touch thee? when thou art athirst then thou hast gone unto the vessels, and hast drunk from that which the young men draw.'

10 E lla entonces bajando su rostro se inclinó a tierra, y le dijo: ¿Por qué he hallado gracia en tus ojos para que tú me conozcas, siendo yo extranjera?

And she falleth on her face, and boweth herself to the earth, and saith unto him, `Wherefore have I found grace in thine eyes, to discern me, and I a stranger?'

11 Y respondiendo Booz, le dijo: De cierto me ha sido declarado todo lo que has hecho con tu suegra después de la muerte de tu marido; que dejando a tu padre y a tu madre, y tu tierra natural has venido a pueblo que no conociste llegando hace tres días.

And Boaz answereth and saith to her, `It hath thoroughly been declared to me all that thou hast done with thy mother-in-law, after the death of thy husband, and thou dost leave thy father, and thy mother, and the land of thy birth, and dost come in unto a people which thou hast not known heretofore.

12 E l SEÑOR galardone tu obra, y tu remuneración sea llena por el SEÑOR Dios de Israel; que has venido para cubrirte debajo de sus alas.

Jehovah doth recompense thy work, and thy reward is complete from Jehovah, God of Israel, under whose wings thou hast come to take refuge.'

13 Y ella dijo: Señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de tus ojos; porque me has consolado, y porque has hablado al corazón de tu sierva, no siendo yo ni aun como una de tus criadas.

And she saith, `Let me find grace in thine eyes, my lord, because thou hast comforted me, and because thou hast spoken unto the heart of thy maid-servant, and I -- I am not as one of thy maid-servants.'

14 Y Booz le dijo a la hora de comer: Ven aquí, y come del pan, y moja tu bocado en el vinagre. Y se sentó ella junto a los segadores, y él le dio del potaje, y comió hasta que se sació y le sobró.

And Boaz saith to her, `At meal-time come nigh hither, and thou hast eaten of the bread, and dipped thy morsel in the vinegar.' And she sitteth at the side of the reapers, and he reacheth to her roasted corn, and she eateth, and is satisfied, and leaveth.

15 L uego se levantó para espigar. Y Booz mandó a sus criados, diciendo: Que coja también espigas entre las gavillas, y no la avergoncéis;

And she riseth to glean, and Boaz chargeth his young men, saying, `Even between the sheaves she doth glean, and ye do not cause her to blush;

16 a ntes echaréis a sabiendas de los manojos, y la dejaréis que coja, y no la reprendáis.

and also ye do surely cast to her of the handfuls -- and have left, and she hath gleaned, and ye do not push against her.'

17 ¶ Y cogió en el campo hasta la tarde, y desgranó lo que había recogido, y fue como un efa de cebada.

And she gleaneth in the field till the evening, and beateth out that which she hath gleaned, and it is about an ephah of barley;

18 Y lo tomó, y se fue a la ciudad; y su suegra vio lo que había recogido. Sacó también luego lo que le había sobrado después de haber quedado saciada, y se lo dio.

and she taketh up, and goeth into the city, and her mother-in-law seeth that which she hath gleaned, and she bringeth out and giveth to her that which she left from her satiety.

19 Y le dijo su suegra: ¿Dónde has cogido hoy? ¿Y dónde has trabajado? Bendito sea el que te ha conocido. Y ella declaró a su suegra lo que le había acontecido con aquel, y dijo: El nombre del varón con quien hoy he trabajado es Booz.

And her mother-in-law saith to her, `Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where hast thou wrought? may he who is discerning thee be blessed.' And she declareth to her mother-in-law with whom she hath wrought, and saith, `The name of the man with whom I have wrought to-day Boaz.'

20 Y dijo Noemí a su nuera: Sea él bendito del SEÑOR, que aun no ha dejado su misericordia ni para con los vivos ni para con los muertos. Y le volvió a decir Noemí: Nuestro pariente es aquel varón, y es uno de los que tiene el derecho de redimirnos.

And Naomi saith to her daughter-in-law, `Blessed he of Jehovah who hath not forsaken His kindness with the living and with the dead;' and Naomi saith to her, `The man is a relation of ours; he of our redeemers.'

21 Y Rut la moabita dijo: Además de esto me ha dicho: Júntate con mis criados, hasta que hayan acabado toda mi siega.

And Ruth the Moabitess saith, `Also he surely said unto me, Near the young people whom I have thou dost cleave till they have completed the whole of the harvest which I have.'

22 Y Noemí respondió a Rut su nuera: Mejor es, hija mía, que salgas con sus criadas; y no que te encuentren en otro campo.

And Naomi saith unto Ruth her daughter-in-law, `Good, my daughter, that thou goest out with his young women, and they come not against thee in another field.'

23 Y así ella se juntó con las criadas de Booz cogiendo, hasta que la siega de la cebada y la del trigo fue acabada; mas con su suegra habitó.

And she cleaveth to the young women of Boaz to glean, till the completion of the barley-harvest, and of the wheat-harvest, and she dwelleth with her mother-in-law.
