1 ¶ Y cuando vio Balaam que parecía bien al SEÑOR que él bendijera a Israel, no fue, como la primera y segunda vez, a encuentro de los agüeros, sino que puso su rostro hacia el desierto;

And Balaam seeth that good in the eyes of Jehovah to bless Israel, and he hath not gone as time by time to meet enchantments, and he setteth towards the wilderness his face;

2 y alzando sus ojos, vio a Israel alojado por sus tribus; y el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.

and Balaam lifteth up his eyes, and seeth Israel tabernacling, by its tribes, and the Spirit of God is upon him,

3 E ntonces tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, y dijo el varón de ojos abiertos;

and he taketh up his simile, and saith: `An affirmation of Balaam son of Beor -- And an affirmation of the man whose eyes are shut --

4 d ijo el que oyó los dichos de Dios, el que vio la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:

An affirmation of him who is hearing sayings of God -- Who a vision of the Almighty seeth, Falling -- and eyes uncovered:

5 ¡ Cuán hermosas son tus tiendas, oh Jacob, tus habitaciones, oh Israel!

How good have been thy tents, O Jacob, Thy tabernacles, O Israel;

6 C omo arroyos están extendidas, como huertos junto al río, como árboles de sándalo plantados por el SEÑOR, como cedros junto a las aguas.

As valleys they have been stretched out, As gardens by a river; As aloes Jehovah hath planted, As cedars by waters;

7 D e sus ramos destilarán aguas, y su simiente será en muchas aguas; y su rey se ensalzará más que Agag, y su reino será ensalzado.

He maketh water flow from his buckets, And his seed in many waters; And higher than Agag his king, And exalted is his kingdom.

8 D ios lo sacó de Egipto; tiene fuerzas como el unicornio; comerá a los gentiles sus enemigos, y desmenuzará sus huesos, y los asaeteará con sus saetas.

God is bringing him out of Egypt; As the swiftness of a Reem is to him, He eateth up nations his adversaries, And their bones he breaketh, And his arrows he smiteth,

9 S e encorvará para echarse como león, y como gran león; ¿quién lo despertará? Benditos los que te bendijeren, y malditos los que te maldijeren.

He hath bent, he hath lain down as a lion, And as a lioness: who doth raise him up? He who is blessing thee blessed, And he who is cursing thee cursed.'

10 ¶ Entonces se encendió la ira de Balac contra Balaam, y batiendo sus palmas le dijo: Para maldecir a mis enemigos te he llamado, y he aquí los has bendecido resueltamente ya tres veces.

And the anger of Balak burneth against Balaam, and he striketh his hands; and Balak saith unto Balaam, `To pierce mine enemies I called thee, and lo, thou hast certainly blessed -- these three times;

11 H uye, por tanto, ahora a tu lugar; yo dije que te honraría, mas he aquí que el SEÑOR te ha privado de honra.

and now, flee for thyself unto thy place; I have said, I do greatly honour thee, and lo, Jehovah hath kept thee back from honour.'

12 Y Balaam le respondió: ¿No lo declaré yo también a tus mensajeros que me enviaste, diciendo:

And Balaam saith unto Balak, `Did I not also unto thy messengers whom thou hast sent unto me, speak, saying,

13 S i Balac me diera su casa llena de plata y oro, yo no podré traspasar el dicho del SEÑOR para hacer cosa buena ni mala de mi arbitrio; mas lo que el SEÑOR hablare, eso diré yo?

If Balak doth give to me the fulness of his house of silver and gold, I am not able to pass over the command of Jehovah, to do good or evil of mine own heart -- that which Jehovah speaketh -- it I speak?

14 P or tanto, he aquí, yo me voy ahora a mi pueblo; ven, te indicaré lo que este pueblo ha de hacer a tu pueblo en los postrimeros días.

and, now, lo, I am going to my people; come, I counsel thee that which this people doth to thy people, in the latter end of the days.'

15 ¶ Y tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, dijo el varón de ojos abiertos;

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `An affirmation of Balaam son of Beor -- And an affirmation of the man whose eyes shut --

16 d ijo el que oyó los dichos del SEÑOR, y el que sabe la ciencia del Altísimo, el que vio la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:

An affirmation of him who is hearing sayings of God -- And knowing knowledge of the Most High; A vision of the Almighty he seeth, Falling -- and eyes uncovered:

17 L o veré, mas no ahora; lo miraré, mas no de cerca; SALDRÁ ESTRELLA DE JACOB, y se levantará cetro de Israel, y herirá los cantones de Moab, y destruirá a todos los hijos de Set.

I see it, but not now; I behold it, but not near; A star hath proceeded from Jacob, And a sceptre hath risen from Israel, And hath smitten corners of Moab, And hath destroyed all sons of Sheth.

18 Y será tomada Edom, será también tomada Seir por sus enemigos, e Israel se portará con valentía.

And Edom hath been a possession, And Seir hath been a possession, its enemies, And Israel is doing valiantly;

19 Y el de Jacob se enseñoreará, y destruirá de la ciudad lo que quedare.

And doth rule out of Jacob, And hath destroyed a remnant from Ar.'

20 Y viendo a Amalec, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Amalec, cabeza de gentiles; mas su postrimería perecerá para siempre.

And he seeth Amalek, and taketh up his simile, and saith: `A beginning of the Goyim Amalek; And his latter end -- for ever he perisheth.'

21 Y viendo al ceneo, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Fuerte es tu habitación, pon en la peña tu nido;

And he seeth the Kenite, and taketh up his simile, and saith: `Enduring thy dwelling, And setting in a rock thy nest,

22 p orque el ceneo será echado, cuando Assur te llevará cautivo.

But the Kenite is for a burning; Till when doth Asshur keep thee captive?'

23 T omó su parábola otra vez, y dijo: ¡Ay! ¿quién vivirá cuando hiciere Dios estas cosas?

And he taketh up his simile, and saith: `Alas! who doth live when God doth this?

24 Y vendrán navíos de la costa de Quitim, y afligirán a Assur, afligirán también a Heber; mas él también perecerá para siempre.

And -- ships from the side of Chittim, And they have humbled Asshur, And they have humbled Eber, And it also for ever is perishing.'

25 E ntonces se levantó Balaam, y se fue, y volvió a su lugar; y también Balac se fue por su camino.

And Balaam riseth, and goeth, and turneth back to his place, and Balak also hath gone on his way.
