1 T hen Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,

Jesús volvió del Jordán lleno del Espíritu Santo, y fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto.

2 b eing tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.

Allí estuvo cuarenta días, y el diablo lo estuvo poniendo a prueba. Como durante esos días no comió nada, pasado ese tiempo tuvo hambre.

3 A nd the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.”

Entonces el diablo le dijo: «Si eres Hijo de Dios, di que esta piedra se convierta en pan.»

4 B ut Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’”

Jesús le respondió: «Escrito está: “No sólo de pan vive el hombre.”»

5 T hen the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time.

Entonces el diablo lo llevó a un lugar alto, y en un instante le mostró todos los reinos del mundo,

6 A nd the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.

y le dijo: «Yo te daré poder sobre todos estos reinos y sobre sus riquezas, porque a mí han sido entregados, y yo puedo dárselos a quien yo quiera.

7 T herefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”

Si te arrodillas delante de mí, todos serán tuyos.»

8 A nd Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ”

Jesús le respondió: «Escrito está: “Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y a él sólo servirás.”»

9 T hen he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here.

Entonces el diablo lo llevó a Jerusalén, lo puso sobre la parte más alta del templo, y le dijo: «Si eres Hijo de Dios, lánzate hacia abajo.

10 F or it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’

Porque está escrito: »“A sus ángeles mandará alrededor de ti, para que te protejan”;

11 a nd, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ”

y también: “En sus manos te sostendrán, Para que no tropieces con piedra alguna.”»

12 A nd Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

Jesús le respondió: «También está dicho: “No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.”»

13 N ow when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. Jesus Begins His Galilean Ministry

Cuando el diablo agotó sus intentos de ponerlo a prueba, se apartó de él por algún tiempo. Jesús principia su ministerio

14 T hen Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.

Con el poder del Espíritu, Jesús volvió a Galilea; y su fama se difundió por todos los lugares vecinos.

15 A nd He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

Enseñaba en las sinagogas de ellos, y todos lo glorificaban. Jesús en Nazaret

16 S o He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Jesús fue a Nazaret, donde se había criado, y en el día de reposo entró en la sinagoga, como era su costumbre, y se levantó a leer las Escrituras.

17 A nd He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

Se le dio el libro del profeta Isaías, y al abrirlo encontró el texto que dice:

18 “ The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;

«El Espíritu del Señor está sobre mí. Me ha ungido para proclamar buenas noticias a los pobres; me ha enviado a proclamar libertad a los cautivos, a dar vista a los ciegos, a poner en libertad a los oprimidos

19 T o proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

y a proclamar el año de la buena voluntad del Señor.»

20 T hen He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.

Enrolló luego el libro, se lo dio al asistente, y se sentó. Todos en la sinagoga lo miraban fijamente.

21 A nd He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Entonces él comenzó a decirles: «Hoy se ha cumplido esta Escritura delante de ustedes.»

22 S o all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”

Todos hablaban bien de él y se quedaban asombrados de las palabras de gracia que emanaban de sus labios, y se preguntaban: «¿Acaso no es éste el hijo de José?»

23 H e said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in Your country.’”

Jesús les dijo: «Sin duda ustedes me recordarán el refrán que dice: “Médico, cúrate a ti mismo”, y también “Haz aquí en tu tierra todo lo que hemos oído que hiciste en Cafarnaún.”»

24 T hen He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country.

Y añadió: «De cierto les digo que ningún profeta es bien recibido en su propia tierra.

25 B ut I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land;

A decir verdad, en los días de Elías, cuando durante tres años y medio el cielo se cerró y hubo mucha hambre en toda la tierra, había muchas viudas en Israel;

26 b ut to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath, in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.

pero Elías no fue enviado a ninguna de ellas, sino a una viuda en Sarepta de Sidón.

27 A nd many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”

Y en los días del profeta Eliseo había también muchos leprosos en Israel, pero ninguno de ellos fue limpiado sino Namán el sirio.»

28 S o all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

Al oír esto, todos en la sinagoga se enojaron mucho.

29 a nd rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff.

Se levantaron, lo echaron fuera de la ciudad, y lo llevaron hasta la cumbre del monte sobre el que estaba edificada la ciudad, para despeñarlo.

30 T hen passing through the midst of them, He went His way. Jesus Casts Out an Unclean Spirit

Pero él pasó por en medio de ellos, y se fue. Un hombre que tenía un espíritu impuro

31 T hen He went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and was teaching them on the Sabbaths.

Jesús fue a Cafarnaún, ciudad de Galilea, y allí enseñaba a la gente en los días de reposo.

32 A nd they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority.

Y la gente se admiraba de sus enseñanzas, porque les hablaba con autoridad.

33 N ow in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon. And he cried out with a loud voice,

Había en la sinagoga un hombre que tenía el espíritu de un demonio impuro, el cual gritó con gran fuerza:

34 s aying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

«¿Qué tienes contra nosotros, Jesús de Nazaret? ¿Has venido a destruirnos? ¡Yo te conozco, y sé que eres el Santo de Dios!»

35 B ut Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” And when the demon had thrown him in their midst, it came out of him and did not hurt him.

Pero Jesús lo reprendió y le dijo: «¡Cállate, y sal de ese hombre!» Entonces el demonio derribó al hombre en medio de ellos, y salió de él sin hacerle ningún daño.

36 T hen they were all amazed and spoke among themselves, saying, “What a word this is! For with authority and power He commands the unclean spirits, and they come out.”

Todos estaban asustados, y se preguntaban unos a otros: «¿Qué clase de palabra es ésta? ¡Con autoridad y poder da órdenes a los espíritus impuros, y éstos salen!»

37 A nd the report about Him went out into every place in the surrounding region. Peter’s Mother-in-Law Healed

Y su fama se iba extendiendo por todos los lugares vecinos. Jesús sana a la suegra de Pedro

38 N ow He arose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. But Simon’s wife’s mother was sick with a high fever, and they made request of Him concerning her.

Jesús salió de la sinagoga y se dirigió a la casa de Simón. La suegra de Simón tenía una fiebre muy alta, así que le rogaron a Jesús por ella.

39 S o He stood over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. And immediately she arose and served them. Many Healed After Sabbath Sunset

Él se inclinó hacia ella y reprendió a la fiebre, y la fiebre se le quitó. Al instante, ella se levantó y comenzó a atenderlos. Muchos sanados al caer la tarde

40 W hen the sun was setting, all those who had any that were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and He laid His hands on every one of them and healed them.

Al ponerse el sol, todos los que tenían enfermos de diversas enfermedades se los llevaban, y él ponía sus manos sobre cada uno de ellos y los sanaba.

41 A nd demons also came out of many, crying out and saying, “You are the Christ, the Son of God!” And He, rebuking them, did not allow them to speak, for they knew that He was the Christ. Jesus Preaches in Galilee

También de muchos salían demonios, los cuales gritaban: «¡Tú eres el Hijo de Dios!» Pero Jesús los reprendía y no los dejaba hablar, porque sabían que él era el Cristo. Jesús predica en Galilea

42 N ow when it was day, He departed and went into a deserted place. And the crowd sought Him and came to Him, and tried to keep Him from leaving them;

Al llegar el día, Jesús salió y se fue a un lugar apartado. La gente lo buscaba, y cuando lo encontraron intentaron retenerlo para que no se alejara de ellos;

43 b ut He said to them, “I must preach the kingdom of God to the other cities also, because for this purpose I have been sent.”

pero él les dijo: «También es necesario que yo anuncie en otras ciudades las buenas noticias del reino de Dios, porque para esto he sido enviado.»

44 A nd He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Y siguió predicando en las sinagogas de esa región.
