1 T hen God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided.

Pero Dios se acordó de Noé, y de todos los animales y bestias que estaban en el arca con él. Entonces Dios hizo pasar sobre la tierra un viento, y las aguas disminuyeron.

2 T he fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained.

Se cerraron las fuentes del abismo y las cataratas de los cielos, y se detuvo la lluvia de los cielos.

3 A nd the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased.

Las aguas sobre la tierra fueron decreciendo gradualmente, y al cabo de ciento cincuenta días se retiraron,

4 T hen the ark rested in the seventh month, the seventeenth day of the month, on the mountains of Ararat.

y a los diecisiete días del mes séptimo el arca se posó sobre los montes de Ararat.

5 A nd the waters decreased continually until the tenth month. In the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains were seen.

Las aguas siguieron bajando hasta el mes décimo, y el día primero del mes décimo quedaron al descubierto las cimas de los montes.

6 S o it came to pass, at the end of forty days, that Noah opened the window of the ark which he had made.

Al cabo de cuarenta días Noé abrió la ventana del arca que había hecho,

7 T hen he sent out a raven, which kept going to and fro until the waters had dried up from the earth.

y envió un cuervo, el cual salió y estuvo yendo y viniendo, hasta que las aguas sobre la tierra se fueron secando.

8 H e also sent out from himself a dove, to see if the waters had receded from the face of the ground.

También dejó salir una paloma, para ver si las aguas se habían retirado de la faz de la tierra,

9 B ut the dove found no resting place for the sole of her foot, and she returned into the ark to him, for the waters were on the face of the whole earth. So he put out his hand and took her, and drew her into the ark to himself.

pero al no hallar la paloma donde asentarse, volvió al arca, donde estaba él, porque las aguas aún cubrían la faz de toda la tierra. Entonces Noé extendió la mano y, tomándola, la hizo entrar consigo en el arca.

10 A nd he waited yet another seven days, and again he sent the dove out from the ark.

Esperó aún otros siete días, y volvió a enviar a la paloma fuera del arca,

11 T hen the dove came to him in the evening, and behold, a freshly plucked olive leaf was in her mouth; and Noah knew that the waters had receded from the earth.

y al atardecer la paloma volvió a donde él estaba, pero ya traía en el pico una hoja de olivo. Así entendió Noé que las aguas se habían retirado de sobre la tierra.

12 S o he waited yet another seven days and sent out the dove, which did not return again to him anymore.

Todavía esperó siete días más, y volvió a enviar a la paloma, pero ésta ya no volvió a donde él estaba.

13 A nd it came to pass in the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, that the waters were dried up from the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark and looked, and indeed the surface of the ground was dry.

El día primero del mes primero del año seiscientos uno de Noé, se secaron las aguas sobre la tierra. Entonces Noé quitó la cubierta del arca, y miró, y resultó que la superficie de la tierra se estaba secando,

14 A nd in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dried.

y a los veintisiete días del mes segundo la tierra ya estaba seca.

15 T hen God spoke to Noah, saying,

Entonces Dios habló con Noé, y le dijo:

16 “ Go out of the ark, you and your wife, and your sons and your sons’ wives with you.

«Sal del arca, tú y tu mujer, y tus hijos, y las mujeres de tus hijos, que están contigo.

17 B ring out with you every living thing of all flesh that is with you: birds and cattle and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth, so that they may abound on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply on the earth.”

Saca a todos los animales que están contigo; a todo ser vivo: aves y bestias, y todo reptil que se arrastra sobre la tierra, y pueblen la tierra. ¡Reprodúzcanse y multiplíquense sobre la tierra!»

18 S o Noah went out, and his sons and his wife and his sons’ wives with him.

Salió entonces Noé con sus hijos, su mujer, y las mujeres de sus hijos.

19 E very animal, every creeping thing, every bird, and whatever creeps on the earth, according to their families, went out of the ark. God’s Covenant with Creation

También salieron del arca todos los animales, y todo reptil y toda ave, y todo lo que se mueve sobre la tierra, según sus especies.

20 T hen Noah built an altar to the Lord, and took of every clean animal and of every clean bird, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.

Noé edificó un altar al Señor y, tomando de todo animal limpio y de toda ave limpia, ofreció en el altar un holocausto.

21 A nd the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

Al percibir el Señor ese grato olor, dijo en su corazón: «No volveré a maldecir la tierra por causa del hombre, porque desde su juventud las intenciones del corazón del hombre son malas. Y tampoco volveré a destruir a todo ser vivo, como lo he hecho.

22 “ While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease.”

Mientras la tierra permanezca, no faltarán la sementera y la siega, ni el frío y el calor, ni el verano y el invierno, ni el día y la noche.»
