1 A nd the Lord spoke to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

Entonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Preséntate ante el faraón y dile que yo, el Señor, he dicho: “Deja ir a mi pueblo, para que me sirva.

2 B ut if you refuse to let them go, behold, I will smite all your territory with frogs.

Si no lo dejas ir, vas a ver cómo voy a castigar con ranas todos tus territorios.

3 S o the river shall bring forth frogs abundantly, which shall go up and come into your house, into your bedroom, on your bed, into the houses of your servants, on your people, into your ovens, and into your kneading bowls.

El río criará ranas, y éstas entrarán en tu casa, y en la cámara donde duermes, y se treparán a tu cama, y se meterán a las casas de tus siervos, y en tu pueblo, en tus hornos y en tus artesas.

4 A nd the frogs shall come up on you, on your people, and on all your servants.”’”

¡Las ranas se treparán sobre ti y sobre tu pueblo, y sobre todos tus siervos!”»

5 T hen the Lord spoke to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your rod over the streams, over the rivers, and over the ponds, and cause frogs to come up on the land of Egypt.’”

El Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón que extienda la vara que lleva en su mano sobre los ríos, arroyos y estanques, y que haga subir ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto.»

6 S o Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land of Egypt.

Aarón extendió su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, y subieron ranas que cubrieron la tierra de Egipto.

7 A nd the magicians did so with their enchantments, and brought up frogs on the land of Egypt.

Pero los hechiceros hicieron lo mismo, y con sus encantamientos hicieron venir ranas sobre la tierra de Egipto.

8 T hen Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Entreat the Lord that He may take away the frogs from me and from my people; and I will let the people go, that they may sacrifice to the Lord.”

Entonces el faraón llamó a Moisés y a Aarón, y les dijo: «Ruéguenle al Señor que nos quite las ranas a mí y a mi pueblo. Entonces dejaré ir a tu pueblo para que ofrezca sacrificios al Señor.»

9 A nd Moses said to Pharaoh, “Accept the honor of saying when I shall intercede for you, for your servants, and for your people, to destroy the frogs from you and your houses, that they may remain in the river only.”

Y Moisés le dijo al faraón: «Dígnate indicarme cuándo debo orar por ti, por tus siervos y por tu pueblo, para que las ranas se aparten de ti y de tus casas, y que se queden solamente en el río.»

10 S o he said, “Tomorrow.” And he said, “ Let it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the Lord our God.

El faraón dijo: «Hazlo mañana.» Y Moisés respondió: «Así se hará, tal y como lo has dicho, para que sepas que no hay dios como el Señor nuestro Dios.

11 A nd the frogs shall depart from you, from your houses, from your servants, and from your people. They shall remain in the river only.”

Las ranas se apartarán de ti y de tus casas, y de tus siervos y de tu pueblo, y solamente se quedarán en el río.»

12 T hen Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh. And Moses cried out to the Lord concerning the frogs which He had brought against Pharaoh.

En cuanto Moisés y Aarón salieron de la presencia del faraón, Moisés clamó al Señor en cuanto a las ranas que había mandado sobre el faraón,

13 S o the Lord did according to the word of Moses. And the frogs died out of the houses, out of the courtyards, and out of the fields.

y el Señor actuó en conformidad con la palabra de Moisés, pues murieron las ranas en las casas, los cortijos y los campos.

14 T hey gathered them together in heaps, and the land stank.

Entonces las juntaron y amontonaron, pero todo el país apestaba.

15 B ut when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and did not heed them, as the Lord had said. The Third Plague: Lice

Y tal y como el Señor lo había dicho, en cuanto el faraón vio que se le había dado un respiro, endureció su corazón y no les hizo caso. La plaga de piojos

16 S o the Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Stretch out your rod, and strike the dust of the land, so that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt.’”

Entonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón que extienda su vara y golpee el polvo de la tierra, para que éste se convierta en piojos por todo Egipto.»

17 A nd they did so. For Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod and struck the dust of the earth, and it became lice on man and beast. All the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt.

Ellos lo hicieron así. Aarón extendió su mano con su vara y golpeó el polvo de la tierra, y éste se convirtió en piojos. En todo Egipto, todo el polvo de la tierra se convirtió en piojos, lo mismo en la gente como en los animales.

18 N ow the magicians so worked with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not. So there were lice on man and beast.

Los hechiceros hicieron también sus encantamientos para convertir el polvo en piojos, pero no pudieron, así que tanto la gente como los animales tenían piojos.

19 T hen the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, just as the Lord had said. The Fourth Plague: Flies

Entonces los hechiceros le dijeron al faraón: «Esto es obra del dedo de Dios.» Pero tal y como el Señor lo había dicho, el corazón del faraón se endureció y no les hizo caso. La plaga de moscas

20 A nd the Lord said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as he comes out to the water. Then say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

El Señor dijo a Moisés: «Mañana vas a levantarte y presentarte ante el faraón, cuando él baje al río. Allí le dirás que yo, el Señor, le digo: “Deja ir a mi pueblo, para que me sirva.

21 O r else, if you will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies on you and your servants, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground on which they stand.

Si no lo dejas ir, yo enviaré contra ti y contra tus siervos, y contra tu pueblo y tus casas, toda clase de moscas. Todas las casas de Egipto se llenarán de moscas, lo mismo que la tierra donde haya egipcios.

22 A nd in that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there, in order that you may know that I am the Lord in the midst of the land.

Ese día, pondré aparte a la tierra de Gosén, donde habita mi pueblo, para que no haya en ella una sola mosca. Así sabrás que yo, el Señor, estoy en medio de la tierra.

23 I will make a difference between My people and your people. Tomorrow this sign shall be.”’”

Voy a hacer distinción entre mi pueblo y el tuyo. Esta señal tendrá lugar mañana.”»

24 A nd the Lord did so. Thick swarms of flies came into the house of Pharaoh, into his servants’ houses, and into all the land of Egypt. The land was corrupted because of the swarms of flies.

Y así lo hizo el Señor, y toda clase de moscas fastidiosas vino sobre la casa del faraón y sobre las casas de sus siervos, y sobre todo Egipto. ¡Por causa de ellas el país quedó en ruinas!

25 T hen Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron, and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God in the land.”

Entonces el faraón llamó a Moisés y Aarón, y les dijo: «Vayan y ofrezcan un sacrificio a su Dios aquí en el país.»

26 A nd Moses said, “It is not right to do so, for we would be sacrificing the abomination of the Egyptians to the Lord our God. If we sacrifice the abomination of the Egyptians before their eyes, then will they not stone us?

Pero Moisés respondió: «No está bien que lo hagamos así, porque ofreceríamos al Señor nuestro Dios lo que para los egipcios es algo repugnante. Y si a la vista de los egipcios ofreciéramos en sacrificio lo que para ellos es algo repugnante, ¿no crees que nos apedrearían?

27 W e will go three days’ journey into the wilderness and sacrifice to the Lord our God as He will command us.”

Debemos ir por el desierto camino de tres días, y allí ofreceremos sacrificios al Señor nuestro Dios, tal y como él nos diga.»

28 S o Pharaoh said, “I will let you go, that you may sacrifice to the Lord your God in the wilderness; only you shall not go very far away. Intercede for me.”

Entonces el faraón dijo: «Yo los dejaré ir al desierto para que allí ofrezcan sacrificios al Señor su Dios, con tal de que no vayan más lejos. Y oren por mí.»

29 T hen Moses said, “Indeed I am going out from you, and I will entreat the Lord, that the swarms of flies may depart tomorrow from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. But let Pharaoh not deal deceitfully anymore in not letting the people go to sacrifice to the Lord.”

Y Moisés respondió: «En cuanto yo salga de tu presencia, rogaré al Señor para que mañana mismo todas las moscas se aparten del faraón, y de sus siervos, y de su pueblo. Siempre y cuando el faraón no falte más a su palabra, y nos deje ir como pueblo a ofrecer sacrificio al Señor.»

30 S o Moses went out from Pharaoh and entreated the Lord.

Moisés salió de la presencia del faraón y oró al Señor,

31 A nd the Lord did according to the word of Moses; He removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. Not one remained.

y el Señor hizo lo que Moisés le pidió y alejó todas esas moscas del faraón, de sus siervos y de su pueblo. ¡Ni una sola mosca quedó!

32 B ut Pharaoh hardened his heart at this time also; neither would he let the people go.

Pero incluso en esta ocasión el faraón endureció su corazón y no dejó que el pueblo se fuera.
