1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

Il Signore disse ancora a Mosè:

2 M ake thee two trumpets of silver; of beaten work shalt thou make them: and thou shalt use them for the calling of the congregation, and for the journeying of the camps.

«Fatti due trombe d’argento; le farai d’argento battuto; ti serviranno per convocare la comunità e per far muovere l’accampamento.

3 A nd when they shall blow them, all the congregation shall gather themselves unto thee at the door of the tent of meeting.

Al suono delle due trombe la comunità si raccoglierà presso di te, all’ingresso della tenda di convegno.

4 A nd if they blow but one, then the princes, the heads of the thousands of Israel, shall gather themselves unto thee.

Al suono di una tromba sola, i capi, i primi delle migliaia d’Israele, si riuniranno presso di te.

5 A nd when ye blow an alarm, the camps that lie on the east side shall take their journey.

Quando suonerete con squilli acuti e prolungati, gli accampamenti che sono a levante si metteranno in cammino.

6 A nd when ye blow an alarm the second time, the camps that lie on the south side shall take their journey: they shall blow an alarm for their journeys.

Quando suonerete una seconda volta con squilli acuti e prolungati, gli accampamenti che si trovano a mezzogiorno si metteranno in cammino; si suonerà con squilli acuti e prolungati quando dovranno mettersi in cammino.

7 B ut when the assembly is to be gathered together, ye shall blow, but ye shall not sound an alarm.

Quando dev’essere convocata la comunità, suonerete, ma non con squilli acuti e prolungati.

8 A nd the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow the trumpets; and they shall be to you for a statute for ever throughout your generations.

Saranno i sacerdoti figli di Aaronne a suonare le trombe; sarà una legge perenne per voi e per i vostri discendenti.

9 A nd when ye go to war in your land against the adversary that oppresseth you, then ye shall sound an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before Jehovah your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.

Quando nel vostro paese andrete alla guerra contro il nemico che vi attaccherà, suonerete a squilli acuti e prolungati con le trombe, e sarete ricordati davanti al Signore, al vostro Dio, e sarete liberati dai vostri nemici.

10 A lso in the day of your gladness, and in your set feasts, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow the trumpets over your burnt-offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace-offerings; and they shall be to you for a memorial before your God: I am Jehovah your God.

Così pure nei vostri giorni di gioia, nelle vostre solennità e al principio dei vostri mesi, suonerete le trombe quando offrirete i vostri olocausti e i vostri sacrifici di riconoscenza. Ciò vi servirà di ricordanza davanti al vostro Dio. Io sono il Signore, il vostro Dio». Partenza degli Israeliti dal Sinai

11 A nd it came to pass in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth day of the month, that the cloud was taken up from over the tabernacle of the testimony.

Il secondo anno, il secondo mese, il ventesimo giorno del mese, la nuvola si alzò sopra il tabernacolo della testimonianza.

12 A nd the children of Israel set forward according to their journeys out of the wilderness of Sinai; and the cloud abode in the wilderness of Paran.

I figli d’Israele partirono dal deserto del Sinai, secondo l’ordine fissato per il loro cammino; la nuvola si fermò nel deserto di Paran.

13 A nd they first took their journey according to the commandment of Jehovah by Moses.

Così si misero in cammino la prima volta, secondo l’ordine del Signore trasmesso per mezzo di Mosè.

14 A nd in the first place the standard of the camp of the children of Judah set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Nahshon the son of Amminadab.

La bandiera dell’accampamento dei figli di Giuda, diviso secondo le loro formazioni, si mosse per prima. Nason, figlio di Amminadab, comandava la schiera di Giuda.

15 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Issachar was Nethanel the son of Zuar.

Netaneel, figlio di Suar, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli d’Issacar,

16 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Zebulun was Eliab the son of Helon.

ed Eliab, figlio di Chelon, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Zabulon.

17 A nd the tabernacle was taken down; and the sons of Gershon and the sons of Merari, who bare the tabernacle, set forward.

Il tabernacolo fu smontato e i figli di Gherson e i figli di Merari si misero in cammino, portando il tabernacolo.

18 A nd the standard of the camp of Reuben set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.

Poi si mosse la bandiera dell’accampamento di Ruben, diviso secondo le sue formazioni. Elisur, figlio di Sedeur, comandava la schiera di Ruben.

19 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Simeon was Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai.

Selumiel, figlio di Surisaddai, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Simeone,

20 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Deuel.

ed Eliasaf, figlio di Deuel, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Gad.

21 A nd the Kohathites set forward, bearing the sanctuary: and the others did set up the tabernacle against their coming.

Poi si mossero i Cheatiti, portando gli oggetti sacri; e gli altri rimontavano il tabernacolo, prima che quelli arrivassero.

22 A nd the standard of the camp of the children of Ephraim set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Elishama the son of Ammihud.

Poi si mosse la bandiera dell’accampamento dei figli di Efraim, diviso secondo le sue formazioni. Elisama, figlio di Ammiud, comandava la schiera di Efraim.

23 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Manasseh was Gamaliel the son of Pedahzur.

Gamaliel, figlio di Pedasur, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Manasse,

24 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Benjamin was Abidan the son of Gideoni.

e Abidan, figlio di Ghideoni, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Beniamino.

25 A nd the standard of the camp of the children of Dan, which was the rearward of all the camps, set forward according to their hosts: and over his host was Ahiezer the son of Ammishaddai.

Poi si mosse la bandiera dell’accampamento dei figli di Dan, diviso secondo le sue formazioni, formando la retroguardia di tutti gli accampamenti. Aiezer, figlio di Ammisaddai, comandava la schiera di Dan.

26 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Asher was Pagiel the son of Ochran.

Paghiel, figlio di Ocran, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Ascer,

27 A nd over the host of the tribe of the children of Naphtali was Ahira the son of Enan.

e Aira, figlio di Enan, comandava la schiera della tribù dei figli di Neftali.

28 T hus were the journeyings of the children of Israel according to their hosts; and they set forward.

Tale era l’ordine con cui i figli d’Israele si misero in cammino secondo le loro formazioni. E così partirono.

29 A nd Moses said unto Hobab, the son of Reuel the Midianite, Moses' father-in-law, We are journeying unto the place of which Jehovah said, I will give it you: come thou with us, and we will do thee good; for Jehovah hath spoken good concerning Israel.

Mosè disse a Obab, figlio di Reuel, madianita, suocero di Mosè: «Noi c’incamminiamo verso il luogo del quale il Signore ha detto: “Io ve lo darò”. Vieni con noi e ti faremo del bene, perché il Signore ha promesso di fare del bene a Israele».

30 A nd he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.

Obab gli rispose: «Io non verrò, ma andrò al mio paese e dai miei parenti».

31 A nd he said, Leave us not, I pray thee; forasmuch as thou knowest how we are to encamp in the wilderness, and thou shalt be to us instead of eyes.

E Mosè disse: «Ti prego, non ci lasciare; poiché tu conosci i luoghi dove dovremo accamparci nel deserto, e sarai la nostra guida.

32 A nd it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what good soever Jehovah shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.

E, se vieni con noi, qualunque bene il Signore farà a noi, noi lo faremo a te».

33 A nd they set forward from the mount of Jehovah three days' journey; and the ark of the covenant of Jehovah went before them three days' journey, to seek out a resting-place for them.

Così partirono dal monte del Signore e fecero tre giornate di cammino; l’arca del patto del Signore andava davanti a loro durante le tre giornate di cammino, per cercare loro un luogo di riposo.

34 A nd the cloud of Jehovah was over them by day, when they set forward from the camp.

E la nuvola del Signore era su di loro, durante il giorno, quando spostavano l’accampamento.

35 A nd it came to pass, when the ark set forward, that Moses said, Rise up, O Jehovah, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee.

Quando l’arca partiva, Mosè diceva: «Sorgi, o Signore, e siano dispersi i tuoi nemici, e fuggano davanti alla tua presenza quelli che ti odiano!»

36 A nd when it rested, he said, Return, O Jehovah, unto the ten thousands of the thousands of Israel.

E quando si posava, diceva: «Torna, o Signore, alle miriadi di migliaia d’Israele!»
