1 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Yet one plague more will I bring upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether.

Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Io farò venire ancora una piaga sul faraone e sull’Egitto; poi egli vi lascerà partire da qui. Quando vi lascerà partire, egli addirittura vi scaccerà di qui.

2 S peak now in the ears of the people, and let them ask every man of his neighbor, and every woman of her neighbor, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.

Parla dunque al popolo e digli che ciascuno domandi al suo vicino, e ogni donna alla sua vicina, degli oggetti d’argento e degli oggetti d’oro».

3 A nd Jehovah gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants, and in the sight of the people.

Il Signore fece in modo che il popolo ottenesse il favore degli Egiziani; anche Mosè era personalmente in grande considerazione nel paese d’Egitto, presso i servitori del faraone e presso tutto il popolo.

4 A nd Moses said, Thus saith Jehovah, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:

Mosè disse: «Così dice il Signore: “Verso mezzanotte io passerò in mezzo all’Egitto

5 a nd all the first-born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the first-born of the maid-servant that is behind the mill; and all the first-born of cattle.

e ogni primogenito nel paese d’Egitto morirà, dal primogenito del faraone che siede sul suo trono, al primogenito della serva che sta dietro la macina e ad ogni primogenito del bestiame.

6 A nd there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there hath not been, nor shall be any more.

Vi sarà in tutto il paese d’Egitto un grande lamento, quale non ci fu mai prima, né ci sarà mai più.

7 B ut against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that Jehovah doth make a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.

Ma in mezzo a tutti i figli d’Israele, tanto fra gli uomini quanto fra gli animali, neppure un cane abbaierà”, affinché conosciate la distinzione che il Signore fa tra l’Egitto e Israele.

8 A nd all these thy servants shall come down unto me, and bow down themselves unto me, saying, Get thee out, and all the people that follow thee: and after that I will go out. And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.

Tutti questi tuoi servitori scenderanno da me e s’inchineranno davanti a me, dicendo: “Parti, tu e tutto il popolo che è al tuo seguito!” E, dopo questo, io partirò». E Mosè, pieno d’ira, uscì dalla presenza del faraone.

9 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses, Pharaoh will not hearken unto you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt.

Il Signore disse a Mosè: «Il faraone non vi darà ascolto, affinché i miei prodigi si moltiplichino nel paese d’Egitto».

10 A nd Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and Jehovah hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

Mosè e Aaronne fecero tutti questi prodigi davanti al faraone; ma il Signore indurì il cuore del faraone, ed egli non lasciò uscire i figli d’Israele dal suo paese.
