5 O ut of my distress I called upon Jehovah: Jehovah answered me and set me in a large place.

Nella mia angoscia invocai il Signore; il Signore mi rispose e mi portò in salvo.

6 J ehovah is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me?

Il Signore è per me, io non temerò; che cosa può farmi l’uomo ?

7 J ehovah is on my side among them that help me: Therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.

Il Signore è per me, fra i miei soccorritori, e io vedrò quanto desidero sui miei nemici.

8 I t is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to put confidence in man.

È meglio rifugiarsi nel Signore che confidare nell’uomo;

9 I t is better to take refuge in Jehovah Than to put confidence in princes.

è meglio rifugiarsi nel Signore che confidare nei prìncipi.

10 A ll nations compassed me about: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

Tutte le nazioni mi avevano circondato; nel nome del Signore, eccole da me sconfitte.

11 T hey compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

Mi avevano circondato, sì, mi avevano accerchiato; nel nome del Signore, eccole da me sconfitte.

12 T hey compassed me about like bees; They are quenched as the fire of thorns: In the name of Jehovah I will cut them off.

Mi avevano circondato come api, ma sono state spente come fuoco di spine; nel nome del Signore io le ho sconfitte.

13 T hou didst thrust sore at me that I might fall; But Jehovah helped me.

Tu mi avevi spinto con violenza per farmi cadere, ma il Signore mi ha soccorso.

14 J ehovah is my strength and song; And he is become my salvation.

Il Signore è la mia forza e il mio cantico, egli è stato la mia salvezza.

15 T he voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tents of the righteous: The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.

Un grido d’esultanza e di vittoria risuona nelle tende dei giusti: «La destra del Signore fa prodigi.

16 T he right hand of Jehovah is exalted: The right hand of Jehovah doeth valiantly.

La destra del Signore si è alzata, la destra del Signore fa prodigi».

17 I shall not die, but live, And declare the works of Jehovah.

Io non morirò, anzi vivrò, e racconterò le opere del Signore.

18 J ehovah hath chastened me sore; But he hath not given me over unto death.

Certo, il Signore mi ha castigato, ma non mi ha dato in balìa della morte.

19 O pen to me the gates of righteousness: I will enter into them, I will give thanks unto Jehovah.

Apritemi le porte della giustizia; io vi entrerò e celebrerò il Signore.

20 T his is the gate of Jehovah; The righteous shall enter into it.

Questa è la porta del Signore; i giusti entreranno per essa.

21 I will give thanks unto thee; for thou hast answered me, And art become my salvation.

Ti celebrerò perché mi hai risposto e sei stato la mia salvezza.

22 T he stone which the builders rejected Is become the head of the corner.

La pietra che i costruttori avevano disprezzata è divenuta la pietra angolare.

23 T his is Jehovah's doing; It is marvellous in our eyes.

Questa è opera del Signore, è cosa meravigliosa agli occhi nostri.

24 T his is the day which Jehovah hath made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Questo è il giorno che il Signore ci ha preparato; festeggiamo e rallegriamoci in esso.

25 S ave now, we beseech thee, O Jehovah: O Jehovah, we beseech thee, send now prosperity.

26 B lessed be he that cometh in the name of Jehovah: We have blessed you out of the house of Jehovah.

Benedetto colui che viene nel nome del Signore. Noi vi benediciamo dalla casa del Signore.

27 J ehovah is God, and he hath given us light: Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

Il Signore è Dio e risplende su di noi; legate la vittima della solennità e portatela ai corni dell’altare.

28 T hou art my God, and I will give thanks unto thee: Thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

Tu sei il mio Dio, io ti celebrerò; tu sei il mio Dio, io ti esalterò.
