1 A nd it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of Jehovah.

Il quattrocentottantesimo anno dopo l’uscita dei figli d’Israele dal paese d’Egitto, nel quarto anno del suo regno sopra Israele, nel mese di Ziv, che è il secondo mese, Salomone cominciò a costruire la casa per il Signore.

2 A nd the house which king Solomon built for Jehovah, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

La casa che il re Salomone costruì per il Signore aveva sessanta cubiti di lunghezza, venti di larghezza, trenta di altezza.

3 A nd the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

Il portico sul davanti del luogo santo della casa si estendeva per venti cubiti, rispondenti alla larghezza della casa, ed era profondo dieci cubiti sul davanti della casa.

4 A nd for the house he made windows of fixed lattice-work.

Il re fece alla casa delle finestre a reticolato fisso.

5 A nd against the wall of the house he built stories round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle; and he made side-chambers round about.

Egli costruì, a ridosso del muro della casa, tutto intorno, dei piani che circondavano i muri della casa, cioè del luogo santo e del luogo santissimo; e fece delle camere laterali, tutto intorno.

6 T he nethermost story was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house round about, that the beams should not have hold in the walls of the house.

Il piano inferiore era largo cinque cubiti; quello di mezzo sei cubiti, e il terzo sette cubiti; perché egli aveva fatto delle sporgenze intorno ai muri esterni della casa, affinché le travi non fossero incastrate nei muri della casa.

7 A nd the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready at the quarry; and there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

Per la costruzione della casa si servirono di pietre già preparate nella cava; così nella casa, durante la sua costruzione, non si udì mai rumore di martello, d’ascia o d’altro strumento di ferro.

8 T he door for the middle side-chambers was in the right side of the house: and they went up by winding stairs into the middle story, and out of the middle into the third.

L’ingresso del piano di mezzo si trovava sul lato destro della casa; per una scala a chiocciola si saliva al piano di mezzo, e dal piano di mezzo al terzo.

9 S o he built the house, and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

Dopo aver finito di costruire la casa, Salomone la coprì di travi e di assi di legno di cedro.

10 A nd he built the stories against all the house, each five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

Fece i piani addossati a tutta la casa dando a ognuno cinque cubiti d’altezza, e li collegò alla casa con travi di cedro.

11 A nd the word of Jehovah came to Solomon, saying,

La parola del Signore fu rivolta a Salomone, dicendo:

12 C oncerning this house which thou art building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute mine ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I establish my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father.

«Quanto a questa casa che tu costruisci, se tu cammini secondo le mie leggi, se metti in pratica i miei precetti e osservi e segui tutti i miei comandamenti, io confermerò in tuo favore la promessa che feci a Davide tuo padre:

13 A nd I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.

abiterò in mezzo ai figli d’Israele e non abbandonerò il mio popolo Israele».

14 S o Solomon built the house, and finished it.

Quando Salomone ebbe finito di costruire la casa,

15 A nd he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar: from the floor of the house unto the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood; and he covered the floor of the house with boards of fir.

ne rivestì le pareti interne di tavole di cedro, dal pavimento fino alla travatura del tetto; rivestì così di legno l’interno e coprì il pavimento della casa con tavole di cipresso.

16 A nd he built twenty cubits on the hinder part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor unto the walls of the ceiling: he built them for it within, for an oracle, even for the most holy place.

Rivestì di tavole di cedro uno spazio di venti cubiti in fondo alla casa, dal pavimento al soffitto; e riservò quello spazio interno per farne un santuario, il luogo santissimo.

17 A nd the house, that is, the temple before the oracle, was forty cubits long.

I quaranta cubiti sul davanti formavano la casa, vale a dire il tempio.

18 A nd there was cedar on the house within, carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

Il legno di cedro, nell’interno della casa, presentava delle sculture di frutti di colloquintide e di fiori sbocciati; tutto era di cedro, non si vedeva neppure una pietra.

19 A nd he prepared an oracle in the midst of the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of Jehovah.

Salomone stabilì il santuario nell’interno, in fondo alla casa, per collocarvi l’arca del patto del Signore.

20 A nd within the oracle was a space of twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof; and he overlaid it with pure gold: and he covered the altar with cedar.

Il santuario aveva venti cubiti di lunghezza, venti cubiti di larghezza e venti cubiti d’altezza. Salomone lo ricoprì d’oro finissimo; davanti al santuario fece un altare di legno di cedro e lo ricoprì d’oro.

21 S o Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he drew chains of gold across before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.

Salomone ricoprì d’oro finissimo l’interno della casa e fece passare un velo, sospeso da catenelle d’oro, davanti al santuario, che ricoprì d’oro.

22 A nd the whole house he overlaid with gold, until all the house was finished: also the whole altar that belonged to the oracle he overlaid with gold.

Ricoprì d’oro tutta la casa, tutta quanta la casa, e ricoprì pure d’oro tutto l’altare che apparteneva al santuario.

23 A nd in the oracle he made two cherubim of olive-wood, each ten cubits high.

Fece nel santuario due cherubini di legno d’olivo, dell’altezza di dieci cubiti ciascuno.

24 A nd five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.

Le ali dei cherubini misuravano cinque cubiti ciascuna; tutto l’insieme faceva dieci cubiti, dalla punta di un’ala alla punta dell’altra.

25 A nd the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.

Il secondo cherubino era anch’esso di dieci cubiti; tutti e due i cherubini erano delle stesse dimensioni e della stessa forma.

26 T he height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.

L’altezza del primo cherubino era di dieci cubiti, e tale era l’altezza dell’altro.

27 A nd he set the cherubim within the inner house; and the wings of the cherubim were stretched forth, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

Salomone pose i cherubini in mezzo alla casa, nell’interno. I cherubini avevano le ali spiegate, in modo che l’ala del primo toccava una delle pareti e l’ala del secondo toccava l’altra parete; le altre ali si toccavano l’una con l’altra con le punte, in mezzo alla casa.

28 A nd he overlaid the cherubim with gold.

Salomone ricoprì d’oro i cherubini.

29 A nd he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, within and without.

Fece ornare tutte le pareti della casa, tutto intorno, tanto all’interno quanto all’esterno, di sculture di cherubini, di palme e di fiori sbocciati.

30 A nd the floor of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.

Ricoprì d’oro il pavimento della casa, nella parte interna e in quella esterna.

31 A nd for the entrance of the oracle he made doors of olive-wood: the lintel and door-posts were a fifth part of the wall.

All’ingresso del santuario fece una porta a due battenti di legno d’olivo; la sua inquadratura, con gli stipiti, occupava la quinta parte della parete.

32 S o he made two doors of olive-wood; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold; and he spread the gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm-trees.

I due battenti erano di legno d’olivo. Egli vi fece scolpire dei cherubini, delle palme e dei fiori sbocciati, e li ricoprì d’oro, stendendo l’oro sui cherubini e sulle palme.

33 S o also made he for the entrance of the temple door-posts of olive-wood, out of a fourth part of the wall;

Fece pure, per la porta del tempio, degli stipiti di legno d’olivo, che occupavano un quarto della larghezza del muro,

34 a nd two doors of fir-wood: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

e due battenti di legno di cipresso; ciascun battente si componeva di due pezzi mobili.

35 A nd he carved thereon cherubim and palm-trees and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted upon the graven work.

Salomone vi fece scolpire dei cherubini, delle palme e dei fiori sbocciati, e li ricoprì d’oro, stendendolo sulle sculture.

36 A nd he built the inner court with three courses of hewn stone, and a course of cedar beams.

Costruì il muro di cinta del cortile interno con tre ordini di pietre squadrate e un ordine di travatura di cedro.

37 I n the fourth year was the foundation of the house of Jehovah laid, in the month Ziv.

Il quarto anno, nel mese di Ziv, furono gettate le fondamenta della casa del Signore;

38 A nd in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.

e l’undicesimo anno, nel mese di Bul, che è l’ottavo mese, la casa fu terminata in tutte le sue parti, come era stata progettata. Salomone la costruì in sette anni.
