1 A nd Jehovah spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,

Il Signore parlò a Mosè e ad Aaronne nel paese d’Egitto, dicendo:

2 T his month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

«Questo mese sarà per voi il primo dei mesi: sarà per voi il primo dei mesi dell’anno.

3 S peak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to their fathers' houses, a lamb for a household:

Parlate a tutta la comunità d’Israele e dite: “Il decimo giorno di questo mese, ognuno prenda un agnello per famiglia, un agnello per casa;

4 a nd if the household be too little for a lamb, then shall he and his neighbor next unto his house take one according to the number of the souls; according to every man's eating ye shall make your count for the lamb.

se la casa è troppo poco numerosa per un agnello, se ne prenda uno in comune con il vicino di casa più prossimo, tenendo conto del numero delle persone. Voi conterete ogni persona secondo quello che può mangiare dell’agnello.

5 Y our lamb shall be without blemish, a male a year old: ye shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats:

Il vostro agnello sia senza difetto, maschio, dell’anno; potrete prendere un agnello o un capretto.

6 a nd ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month; and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at even.

Lo serberete fino al quattordicesimo giorno di questo mese, e tutta la comunità d’Israele, riunita, lo sacrificherà al tramonto.

7 A nd they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two side-posts and on the lintel, upon the houses wherein they shall eat it.

Poi si prenda del sangue d’agnello e lo si metta sui due stipiti e sull’architrave della porta delle case dove lo si mangerà.

8 A nd they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Se ne mangi la carne in quella notte; la si mangi arrostita al fuoco, con pane azzimo e con erbe amare.

9 E at not of it raw, nor boiled at all with water, but roast with fire; its head with its legs and with the inwards thereof.

Non mangiatelo poco cotto o lessato nell’acqua, ma sia arrostito al fuoco con la testa, le gambe e le interiora.

10 A nd ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; but that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

Non lasciatene avanzo alcuno fino alla mattina. Quello che sarà rimasto fino alla mattina, bruciatelo con il fuoco.

11 A nd thus shall ye eat it: with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is Jehovah's passover.

Mangiatelo in questa maniera: con i vostri fianchi cinti, con i vostri calzari ai piedi e con il vostro bastone in mano; e mangiatelo in fretta: è la Pasqua del Signore.

12 F or I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and will smite all the first-born in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments: I am Jehovah.

Quella notte io passerò per il paese d’Egitto, colpirò ogni primogenito nel paese d’Egitto, tanto degli uomini quanto degli animali, e farò giustizia di tutti gli dèi d’Egitto. Io sono il Signore.

13 A nd the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and there shall no plague be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.

Il sangue vi servirà di segno sulle case dove sarete; quand’io vedrò il sangue, passerò oltre, e non vi sarà piaga su di voi per distruggervi, quando colpirò il paese d’Egitto.

14 A nd this day shall be unto you for a memorial, and ye shall keep it a feast to Jehovah: throughout your generations ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

Quel giorno sarà per voi un giorno di commemorazione, e lo celebrerete come una festa in onore del Signore; lo celebrerete di età in età come una legge perenne.

15 S even days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel.

Per sette giorni mangerete pani azzimi. Fin dal primo giorno toglierete ogni lievito dalle vostre case; perché, chiunque mangerà pane lievitato, dal primo giorno fino al settimo, sarà tolto via da Israele.

16 A nd in the first day there shall be to you a holy convocation, and in the seventh day a holy convocation; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done by you.

Il primo giorno avrete una riunione sacra, e un’altra il settimo giorno. Non si faccia nessun lavoro in quei giorni; si prepari soltanto quello che è necessario a ciascuno per mangiare, e non altro.

17 A nd ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day throughout your generations by an ordinance for ever.

Osservate dunque la festa degli Azzimi; poiché in quello stesso giorno io avrò fatto uscire le vostre schiere dal paese d’Egitto; osservate dunque quel giorno di età in età, come un’istituzione perenne.

18 I n the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, ye shall eat unleavened bread, until the one and twentieth day of the month at even.

Mangiate pani azzimi dalla sera del quattordicesimo giorno del mese, fino alla sera del ventunesimo giorno.

19 S even days shall there be no leaven found in your houses: for whosoever eateth that which is leavened, that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a sojourner, or one that is born in the land.

Per sette giorni non si trovi lievito nelle vostre case, perché chiunque mangerà qualcosa di lievitato, sarà eliminato dalla comunità d’Israele, sia egli straniero o nativo del paese.

20 Y e shall eat nothing leavened; in all your habitations shall ye eat unleavened bread.

Non mangiate nulla di lievitato; dovunque abiterete, mangerete pani azzimi!»

21 T hen Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out, and take you lambs according to your families, and kill the passover.

Mosè dunque chiamò tutti gli anziani d’Israele e disse loro: «Andate a procurarvi degli agnelli per le vostre famiglie, e immolate la Pasqua.

22 A nd ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the basin, and strike the lintel and the two side-posts with the blood that is in the basin; and none of you shall go out of the door of his house until the morning.

Poi prendete un mazzetto d’issopo, intingetelo nel sangue che sarà nel catino e con quel sangue spruzzate l’architrave e i due stipiti delle porte. Nessuno di voi varchi la porta di casa sua, fino al mattino.

23 F or Jehovah will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side-posts, Jehovah will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you.

Infatti, il Signore passerà per colpire gli Egiziani; e, quando vedrà il sangue sull’architrave e sugli stipiti, allora il Signore passerà oltre la porta e non permetterà allo sterminatore di entrare nelle vostre case per colpirvi.

24 A nd ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.

Osservate dunque questo come un’istituzione perenne per voi e per i vostri figli.

25 A nd it shall come to pass, when ye are come to the land which Jehovah will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.

Quando sarete entrati nel paese che il Signore vi darà, come ha promesso, osservate questo rito.

26 A nd it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?

Quando i vostri figli vi diranno: “Che significa per voi questo rito?”

27 t hat ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of Jehovah's passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

risponderete: “Questo è il sacrificio della Pasqua in onore del Signore, il quale passò oltre le case dei figli d’Israele in Egitto, quando colpì gli Egiziani e salvò le nostre case”». Il popolo s’inchinò e adorò.

28 A nd the children of Israel went and did so; as Jehovah had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

Poi i figli d’Israele andarono e fecero così; fecero come il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè e ad Aaronne. Morte dei primogeniti d’Egitto

29 A nd it came to pass at midnight, that Jehovah smote all the first-born in the land of Egypt, from the first-born of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the first-born of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the first-born of cattle.

A mezzanotte, il Signore colpì tutti i primogeniti nel paese d’Egitto, dal primogenito del faraone che sedeva sul suo trono al primogenito del carcerato che era in prigione, e tutti i primogeniti del bestiame.

30 A nd Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt, for there was not a house where there was not one dead.

Il faraone si alzò di notte, egli e tutti i suoi servitori e tutti gli Egiziani; e vi fu un grande lamento in Egitto, perché non c’era casa dove non vi fosse un morto.

31 A nd he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, Rise up, get you forth from among my people, both ye and the children of Israel; and go, serve Jehovah, as ye have said.

Egli chiamò Mosè e Aaronne, di notte, e disse: «Alzatevi, partite di mezzo al mio popolo, voi e i figli d’Israele. Andate a servire il Signore, come avete detto.

32 T ake both your flocks and your herds, as ye have said, and be gone; and bless me also.

Prendete le vostre greggi e i vostri armenti, come avete detto; andatevene, e benedite anche me!»

33 A nd the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, to send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We are all dead men.

Gli Egiziani fecero pressione sul popolo per affrettare la sua partenza dal paese, perché dicevano: «Qui moriamo tutti!»

34 A nd the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneading-troughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.

Il popolo portò via la sua pasta prima che fosse lievitata; avvolse le sue madie nei suoi vestiti e se le mise sulle spalle.

35 A nd the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they asked of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment.

I figli d’Israele fecero come aveva detto Mosè: domandarono agli Egiziani oggetti d’argento, oggetti d’oro e vestiti;

36 A nd Jehovah gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they let them have what they asked. And they despoiled the Egyptians.

il Signore fece in modo che il popolo ottenesse il favore degli Egiziani, i quali gli diedero quanto domandava. Così spogliarono gli Egiziani. Partenza dall’Egitto; prescrizioni per la Pasqua

37 A nd the children of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand on foot that were men, besides children.

I figli d’Israele partirono da Ramses per Succot, in numero di circa seicentomila uomini a piedi, senza contare i bambini.

38 A nd a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle.

Una folla di gente di ogni specie salì anch’essa con loro. Avevano pure greggi, armenti, bestiame in grandissima quantità.

39 A nd they baked unleavened cakes of the dough which they brought forth out of Egypt; for it was not leavened, because they were thrust out of Egypt, and could not tarry, neither had they prepared for themselves any victuals.

Fecero cuocere la pasta che avevano portata dall’Egitto, e ne fecero delle focacce azzime, perché la pasta non era lievitata. Cacciati dall’Egitto, non avevano potuto indugiare né prendere provviste.

40 N ow the time that the children of Israel dwelt in Egypt was four hundred and thirty years.

Il tempo che i figli d’Israele abitarono in Egitto fu di quattrocentotrent’anni.

41 A nd it came to pass at the end of four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of Jehovah went out from the land of Egypt.

Al termine dei quattrocentotrent’anni, proprio il giorno che finivano, tutte le schiere del Signore uscirono dal paese d’Egitto.

42 I t is a night to be much observed unto Jehovah for bringing them out from the land of Egypt: this is that night of Jehovah, to be much observed of all the children of Israel throughout their generations.

Questa è una notte da celebrarsi in onore del Signore, perché egli li fece uscire dal paese d’Egitto; questa è la notte di veglia in onore del Signore per tutti i figli d’Israele, di generazione in generazione.

43 A nd Jehovah said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: there shall no foreigner eat thereof;

Il Signore disse a Mosè e ad Aaronne: «Questa è la norma della Pasqua: nessuno straniero ne mangi,

44 b ut every man's servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.

ma ogni schiavo che avrai comprato potrà mangiarne, dopo essere stato circonciso.

45 A sojourner and a hired servant shall not eat thereof.

Lo straniero di passaggio e il mercenario non potranno mangiarne.

46 I n one house shall it be eaten; thou shalt not carry forth aught of the flesh abroad out of the house; neither shall ye break a bone thereof.

Si mangi ogni agnello per intero in una casa. Non portate fuori casa nulla della sua carne e non gli spezzate neanche un osso.

47 A ll the congregation of Israel shall keep it.

Tutta la comunità d’Israele celebri la Pasqua.

48 A nd when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to Jehovah, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: but no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.

Quando uno straniero soggiornerà con te e vorrà fare la Pasqua in onore del Signore, siano prima circoncisi tutti i maschi della sua famiglia. Poi venga pure a fare la Pasqua, e sia come un nativo del paese; ma nessun incirconciso ne mangi.

49 O ne law shall be to him that is home-born, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.

Vi sia un’unica legge per il nativo del paese e per lo straniero che soggiorna in mezzo a voi».

50 T hus did all the children of Israel; as Jehovah commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.

Tutti i figli d’Israele fecero così; fecero come il Signore aveva ordinato a Mosè e ad Aaronne.

51 A nd it came to pass the selfsame day, that Jehovah did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their hosts.

Quello stesso giorno il Signore fece uscire i figli d’Israele, ordinati per schiere, dal paese d’Egitto.
