1 T hen all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.

Todos os publicanos e “pecadores” estavam se reunindo para ouvi-lo.

2 A nd the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”

Mas os fariseus e os mestres da lei o criticavam: “Este homem recebe pecadores e come com eles”.

3 S o He spoke this parable to them, saying:

Então Jesus lhes contou esta parábola:

4 “ What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

“Qual de vocês que, possuindo cem ovelhas, e perdendo uma, não deixa as noventa e nove no campo e vai atrás da ovelha perdida, até encontrá-la?

5 A nd when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

E quando a encontra, coloca-a alegremente nos ombros

6 A nd when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

e vai para casa. Ao chegar, reúne seus amigos e vizinhos e diz: ‘Alegrem-se comigo, pois encontrei minha ovelha perdida’.

7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. The Parable of the Lost Coin

Eu lhes digo que, da mesma forma, haverá mais alegria no céu por um pecador que se arrepende do que por noventa e nove justos que não precisam arrepender-se. A Parábola da Moeda Perdida

8 “ Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?

“Ou, qual é a mulher que, possuindo dez dracmas e, perdendo uma delas, não acende uma candeia, varre a casa e procura atentamente, até encontrá-la?

9 A nd when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’

E quando a encontra, reúne suas amigas e vizinhas e diz: ‘Alegrem-se comigo, pois encontrei minha moeda perdida’.

10 L ikewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” The Parable of the Lost Son

Eu lhes digo que, da mesma forma, há alegria na presença dos anjos de Deus por um pecador que se arrepende”. A Parábola do Filho Perdido

11 T hen He said: “A certain man had two sons.

Jesus continuou: “Um homem tinha dois filhos.

12 A nd the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. ’ So he divided to them his livelihood.

O mais novo disse ao seu pai: ‘Pai, quero a minha parte da herança’. Assim, ele repartiu sua propriedade entre eles.

13 A nd not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.

“Não muito tempo depois, o filho mais novo reuniu tudo o que tinha, e foi para uma região distante; e lá desperdiçou os seus bens vivendo irresponsavelmente.

14 B ut when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.

Depois de ter gasto tudo, houve uma grande fome em toda aquela região, e ele começou a passar necessidade.

15 T hen he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

Por isso foi empregar-se com um dos cidadãos daquela região, que o mandou para o seu campo a fim de cuidar de porcos.

16 A nd he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.

Ele desejava encher o estômago com as vagens de alfarrobeira que os porcos comiam, mas ninguém lhe dava nada.

17 “ But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

“Caindo em si, ele disse: ‘Quantos empregados de meu pai têm comida de sobra, e eu aqui, morrendo de fome!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,

Eu me porei a caminho e voltarei para meu pai, e lhe direi: Pai, pequei contra o céu e contra ti.

19 a nd I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’

Não sou mais digno de ser chamado teu filho; trata-me como um dos teus empregados’.

20 “ And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

A seguir, levantou-se e foi para seu pai. “Estando ainda longe, seu pai o viu e, cheio de compaixão, correu para seu filho, e o abraçou e beijou.

21 A nd the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

“O filho lhe disse: ‘Pai, pequei contra o céu e contra ti. Não sou mais digno de ser chamado teu filho ’.

22 “ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.

“Mas o pai disse aos seus servos: ‘Depressa! Tragam a melhor roupa e vistam nele. Coloquem um anel em seu dedo e calçados em seus pés.

23 A nd bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;

Tragam o novilho gordo e matem-no. Vamos fazer uma festa e alegrar-nos.

24 f or this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

Pois este meu filho estava morto e voltou à vida; estava perdido e foi achado’. E começaram a festejar o seu regresso.

25 “ Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

“Enquanto isso, o filho mais velho estava no campo. Quando se aproximou da casa, ouviu a música e a dança.

26 S o he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.

Então chamou um dos servos e perguntou-lhe o que estava acontecendo.

27 A nd he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’

Este lhe respondeu: ‘Seu irmão voltou, e seu pai matou o novilho gordo, porque o recebeu de volta são e salvo’.

28 “ But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.

“O filho mais velho encheu-se de ira, e não quis entrar. Então seu pai saiu e insistiu com ele.

29 S o he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

Mas ele respondeu ao seu pai: ‘Olha! todos esses anos tenho trabalhado como um escravo ao teu serviço e nunca desobedeci às tuas ordens. Mas tu nunca me deste nem um cabrito para eu festejar com os meus amigos.

30 B ut as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’

Mas quando volta para casa esse teu filho, que esbanjou os teus bens com as prostitutas, matas o novilho gordo para ele!’

31 “ And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.

“Disse o pai: ‘Meu filho, você está sempre comigo, e tudo o que tenho é seu.

32 I t was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’”

Mas nós tínhamos que celebrar a volta deste seu irmão e alegrar-nos, porque ele estava morto e voltou à vida, estava perdido e foi achado’”.
