1 T hen all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him.

وَكانَ كُلُّ جامِعِي الضَّرائِبِ وَالخُطاةِ مُعتادِينَ عَلَى التَّجَمُّعِ حَولَ يَسُوعَ لِيَسمَعُوهُ.

2 A nd the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”

فَبَدَأ الفِرِّيسِيُّونَ وَمُعَلِّمُو الشَّرِيعَةِ يَتَذَمَّرُونَ وَيَقولونَ: «هَذا الرَّجُلُ يُرَحِّبُ بِالخُطاةِ وَيَأْكُلُ مَعَهُمْ!»

3 S o He spoke this parable to them, saying:

فَرَوَى لَهُمْ يَسُوعُ هَذا المَثَلَ:

4 “ What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it?

«لِنَفتَرِضْ أنَّهُ كانَ لِأحَدِكُمْ مِئَةُ خَرُوفٍ فَأضاعَ واحِداً مِنها، أفَلا يَترُكُ التِّسعَةَ وَالتِّسعِينَ الباقِيَةَ فِي الحُقُولِ وَيَذهَبُ وَراءَ الخَرُوفِ الضّائِعِ حَتَّى يَجِدَهُ؟

5 A nd when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.

وَعِندَما يَجِدُهُ، فَإنَّهُ يَضَعُهُ عَلَى كَتِفَيْهِ فَرِحاً.

6 A nd when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’

وَعِندَما يَأْتِي إلَى البَيتِ، يَدعُو الأصحابَ وَالجِيْرانَ مَعاً، وَيَقُولُ لَهُمْ: ‹ابتَهِجُوا مَعِي. فَقَدْ وَجَدتُ خَرُوفِيَ الضّائِعَ!›

7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. The Parable of the Lost Coin

أقُولُ لَكُمْ، هَكَذا تَفرَحُ السَّماءُ بِخاطِئٍ واحِدٍ يَتُوبُ أكثَرَ مِمّا تَفرَحُ بِتِسعَةٍ وَتِسعِينَ بارّاً لا يَحتاجُونَ إلَى التَّوبَةِ.» مَثَلُ الدِّينارِ المَفقود

8 “ Or what woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one coin, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?

«أوْ لِنَفتَرِضْ أنَّ لامرَأةٍ عَشْرَةَ دَنانيرٍ، فَأضاعَتْ دِيناراً واحِداً مِنها. أفَلا تُشعِلُ مِصباحاً وَتُكَنِّسُ البَيتَ وَتَبحَثُ عَنهُ بِتَدقِيقٍ حَتَّى تَجِدَهُ؟

9 A nd when she has found it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found the piece which I lost!’

وَعِندَما تَجِدُهُ، فَإنَّها تَدعُو صَدِيقاتِها وَجاراتِها مَعاً، وَتَقُولُ لَهُنَّ: ‹ابتَهِجْنَ مَعِي، فَقَدْ وَجَدتُ الدِّينارَ الَّذِي أضَعتُهُ!›

10 L ikewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” The Parable of the Lost Son

أقُولُ لَكُمْ إنَّهُ هَكَذا يَكُونُ فَرَحٌ أمامَ مَلائِكَةِ اللهِ بِخاطِئٍ واحِدٍ يَتُوبُ.» مَثَلُ الابنِ الضّالّ

11 T hen He said: “A certain man had two sons.

ثُمَّ قالَ يَسُوعُ: «كانَ لِرَجُلٍ ابنانِ،

12 A nd the younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the portion of goods that falls to me. ’ So he divided to them his livelihood.

فَقالَ أصغَرُهُما لِأبِيهِ: ‹يا أبِي، أعطِنِي نَصِيبِي مِنَ أملاكِكَ.› فَقَسَّمَ الأبُ ثَروَتَهُ بَينَ ابنَيهِ.

13 A nd not many days after, the younger son gathered all together, journeyed to a far country, and there wasted his possessions with prodigal living.

«وَلَمْ تَمضِ أيّامٌ كَثِيرَةٌ حَتَّى جَمَعَ الابنُ الأصغَرُ كُلَّ ما يَخُصُّهُ وَسافَرَ إلَى بَلَدٍ بَعِيدٍ. وَهُناكَ بَدَّدَ كُلَّ مالِهِ فِي حَياةٍ مُستَهتِرَةٍ.

14 B ut when he had spent all, there arose a severe famine in that land, and he began to be in want.

وَبَعدَ أنْ صَرَفَ كُلَّ ما مَعَهُ، أصابَتْ مَجاعَةٌ شَدِيدَةٌ ذَلِكَ البَلَدَ فَابْتَدَأ يَحتاجُ.

15 T hen he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

فَذَهَبَ وَعَمِلَ لَدَى واحِدٍ مِنْ أهلِ ذَلِكَ البَلَدِ، فَأرسَلَهُ إلَى حُقُولِهِ لِيَرعَى الخَنازِيرَ.

16 A nd he would gladly have filled his stomach with the pods that the swine ate, and no one gave him anything.

وَكانَ يَتَمَنَّى لَوْ أنَّهُ يَستَطِيعُ أنْ يُشبِعَ نَفسَهُ مِنْ نَباتِ الخَرُّوبِ الَّذِي كانَتِ الخَنازِيرُ تَأْكُلُ مِنهُ، لَكِنَّ أحَداً لَمْ يُعطِهِ شَيئاً.

17 “ But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

«فَعادَ إلَى رُشدِهِ وَقالَ: ‹كَمْ مِنْ أجِيرٍ عِندَ أبِي يَشبَعُ وَيَفضُلُ عَنهُ الطَّعامُ، أمّا أنا فَأتَضَوَّرُ جُوعاً هُنا!

18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,

سَأقُومُ وَاذْهَبُ إلَى أبِي وَأقُولُ لَهُ: يا أبِي، لَقَدْ أخطَأْتُ إلَى اللهِ وَإلَيكَ،

19 a nd I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’

وَلَمْ أعُدْ جَدِيراً بِأنْ أُدعَى ابناً لَكَ، فَاجعَلْنِي كَواحِدٍ مِنَ العامِلِينَ لَدَيكَ.›

20 “ And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

ثُمَّ قامَ وَذَهَبَ إلَى أبيهِ. عَودَةُ الابنِ الضّال «وَبَينَما كانَ ما يَزالُ بَعِيداً، رَآهُ أبُوهُ، فَامتَلأ حَناناً، وَرَكَضَ إلَيهِ، وَضَمَّهُ بِذِراعَيهِ، وَقَبَّلَهُ.

21 A nd the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’

فَقالَ الابنُ: ‹يا أبِي، أخطَأْتُ إلَى اللهِ وَإلَيكَ. وَأنا لَمْ أعُدْ جَدِيراً بِأنْ أُدعَى ابناً لَكَ.›

22 “ But the father said to his servants, ‘Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet.

«غَيْرَ أنَّ الأبَ قالَ لِعَبيدِهِ: ‹هَيّا! أحضِرُوا أفضَلَ ثَوبٍ وَألبِسُوهُ إيّاهُ، وَضَعُوا خاتَماً فِي يَدِهِ وَحِذاءً فِي قَدَمَيْهِ.

23 A nd bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry;

وَأحضِرُوا العِجلَ المُسَمَّنَ، وَاذْبَحُوهُ ودَعُونا نَأْكُلُ وَنَحتَفِلُ!

24 f or this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ And they began to be merry.

لِأنَّ ابنِي هَذا كانَ مَيِّتاً فَعادَ إلَى الحَياةِ، وَكانَ ضالاً فَوَجَدتُهُ.› فَبَدَأُوا يَبتَهِجُونَ وَيَحتَفِلُونَ. الابنُ الأكبَر

25 “ Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing.

«أمّا الابنُ الأكبَرُ فَكانَ فِي الحَقلِ. وَعِندَما جاءَ وَاقتَرَبَ مِنَ البَيتِ سَمِعَ صَوتَ مُوسِيقَى وَرَقصٍ.

26 S o he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant.

فَدَعَى واحِداً مِنَ الخُدّامِ وَسَألَهُ عَمّا يَجرِي.

27 A nd he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’

فَقالَ لَهُ الخادِمُ: ‹رَجِعَ أخُوكَ، فَذَبَحَ أبُوكَ العِجلَ المُسَمَّنَ لِأنَّهُ عادَ سَلِيماً مُعافَىً.›

28 “ But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.

«فَغَضِبَ الابنُ الأكبَرُ وَلَمْ يَقبَلْ أنْ يَدخُلَ. فَخَرجَ أبُوهُ يَطلُبُ إلَيهِ الدُّخُولَ.

29 S o he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.

فَقالَ لِأبِيهِ: ‹لَقَدْ عَمِلتُ بِجِدٍّ عِندَكَ كُلَّ هَذِهِ السَّنَواتِ، وَلَمْ أعصِ لَكَ أمراً. لَكِنَّكَ لَمْ تُعطِنِي حَتَّى جَدياً لِكَي أحتَفِلَ مَعَ أصدِقائِي!

30 B ut as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.’

وَعِندَما جاءَ ابنُكَ هَذا، الَّذِي بَدَّدَ أموالَكَ عَلَى السّاقِطاتِ، ذَبَحتَ العِجلَ المُسَمَّنَ مِنْ أجلِهِ!›

31 “ And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.

«فَقالَ لَهُ الأبُ: ‹يا بُنَيَّ، أنتَ دائِماً مَعِي، وَكُلُّ ما أملِكُهُ هُوَ لَكَ.

32 I t was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.’”

لَكِنْ كانَ لا بُدَّ أنْ نَحتَفِلَ وَنَفرَحَ، لِأنَّ أخاكَ هَذا كانَ مَيِّتاً فَعادَ إلَى الحَياةِ، وَكانَ ضالاً فَوُجِدَ.›»
