1 A nd seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him.

وَعِندَما رَأى يَسُوعُ الجُمُوعَ، صَعِدَ إلَى تَلَّةٍ وَجَلَسَ. فَجاءَ إلَيهِ تَلامِيذُهُ،

2 T hen He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:

وَابتَدَأ يَتَكَلَّمُ وَيُعَلِّمُهُمْ وَيَقولُ:

3 “ Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

«هَنِيئاً لِلمَساكِينِ بِالرُّوحِ، لِأنَّ مَلَكُوتَ السَّماواتِ قَدْ أُعطِيَ لَهُمْ.

4 B lessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.

هَنِيئِاً لِلباكِينَ، لِأنَّ اللهَ سَيُعَزِّيهِمْ.

5 B lessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.

هَنِيئِاً لِلمُتَواضِعِينَ، لِأنَّهُمْ سَيَرِثُونَ الأرْضَ.

6 B lessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.

هَنِيئِاً لِلجِياعِ وَالعِطاشِ لِعَمَلِ مَشِيئَةِ اللهِ، لِأنَّ اللهَ سَيُشبِعُهُمْ.

7 B lessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.

هَنِيئِاً لِلرُّحَماءِ، لِأنَّ اللهَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمْ.

8 B lessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.

هَنِيئِاً لِذَوِي القُلُوبِ النَّقِيَّةِ، لِأنَّهُمْ سَيَرَونَ اللهَ.

9 B lessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.

هَنِيئِاً لِلعامِلِينَ عَلَى إحلالِ السَّلامِ، لِأنَّهُمْ سَيُدعَونَ أبناءَ اللهِ.

10 B lessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

هَنِيئِاً لِلمُضطَهَدِينَ لِأجلِ البِرِّ، لِأنَّ مَلَكُوتَ السَّماواتِ قَدْ أُعطِيَ لَهُمْ.

11 “ Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.

«هَنِيئِاً لَكُمْ عِندَما يُهِينُكُمُ النّاسُ وَيَضطَهِدُونَكُمْ، وَيَتَّهِمونَكُمْ كَذِباً بِعَمَلِ الشَّرِّ، لِأنَّكُمْ تَلامِيذِي.

12 R ejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. Believers Are Salt and Light

افرَحُوا وَابتَهِجُوا، لِأنَّ مُكافَأتَكُمْ سَتَكُونُ عَظِيمَةً فِي السَّماءِ. لأنَّهُمْ هَكَذا كانُوا يَضطَهِدُونَ الأنبِياءَ الَّذِينَ عاشُوا قَبلَكُمْ أيضاً. مِلحٌ وَنُور

13 “ You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

«أنتُمْ مِلْحٌ لِلنّاسِ جَمِيعاً. لَكِنْ إذا فَقَدَ المِلحُ مَذاقَهُ، فَبِماذا نُعالِجُهُ لِيَعُودَ صالِحاً؟ لا يَصلُحُ فِيما بَعْدُ لِشَيءٍ، إلّا لِأنْ يُلقَى إلَى خارِجِ البيتِ، لِتَدُوسَهُ الأقْدامُ.

14 “ You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.

«أنتُمْ نُورُ العالَمْ. لايُمكِنُ إخفاءُ مَدِينَةٍ مَبنِيَّةٍ عَلَى جَبَلٍ،

15 N or do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.

وَلا يُشعِلُ النّاسُ مِصباحاً وَيَضَعُونَهُ تَحتَ إناءٍ! بَلْ يَضَعُونَهُ عَلَى حَمّالَةٍ مُرتَفِعَةٍ لِكَي يُضيئَ عَلَى جَمِيعِ الَّذينَ فِي المَنزِلِ.

16 L et your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Christ Fulfills the Law

هَكَذا أيضاً، اجعَلُوا نُورَكُمْ يُضيء أمامَ النّاسِ، لِكَي يَرَوا أعمالَكُمُ الصّالِحَةَ، وَيُمَجِّدوا أباكُمُ الَّذِي فِي السَّماءِ.» يَسُوعُ وَشَريعَةُ مُوسَى

17 “ Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.

«لا تَظُنُّوا أنِّي جِئْتُ لِكَي أُلغِيَ شَرِيعَةَ مُوسَى أوْ تَعليمَ الأنبِياءِ. لَمْ آتِ لِكَي أُلغِيَها، بَلْ لِأُعطِيَها مَعناها الكامِلَ.

18 F or assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.

أقولُ الحَقَّ لَكُمْ، إلَى أنْ تَزُولَ السَّماءُ وَالأرْضُ، لَنْ يَزُولَ أصغَرُ حَرفٍ أوْ نُقطَةٍ مِنَ الشَّرِيعَةِ، حَتَّى يَتِمَّ كُلُّ ما هُوَ مَكتُوبٌ فِيها.

19 W hoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

«لِذَلِكَ مَنْ يَكسِرُ أصغَرَ هَذِهِ الوَصايا وَيُعَلِّمُ النّاسَ أنْ يَفعَلُوا مِثلَهُ، سَيُعتَبَرُ الأصغَرَ فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّماواتِ. أمّا مَنْ يُطِيعُ هَذِهِ الوَصايا وَيُعَلِّمُ الآخَرِينَ أنْ يُطِيعُوها، فَسَيُعتَبَرُ الأعظَمَ فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّماواتِ.

20 F or I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Murder Begins in the Heart

لِأنِّي أقُولُ لَكُمْ إنَّهُ ما لَمْ تَزِدْ طاعَتُكُمْ للهِ عَلَىْ طاعَةِ مُعَلِّمِي الشَّرِيعَةِ وَالفِرِّيسِيِّينَ، فَلَنْ تَدخُلُوا مَلَكُوتَ السَّماواتِ. الغَضَب

21 “ You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of the judgment.’

«تَعرِفُونَ أنَّهُ قِيلَ لِآبائِكُمْ: ‹لا تَقتُلْ. وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَقتُلْ يَستَحِقُّ المُحاكَمَةَ.›

22 B ut I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of hell fire.

أمّا أنا فَأقُولُ لَكُمْ إنَّ مَنْ يَغضَبُ مِنْ شَخصٍ آخَرَ فَإنَّهُ يَستَحِقُّ المُحاكَمَةَ، وَمَنْ يَشتِمُ شَخصاً آخَرَ يَنبَغِي أنْ يَقِفَ أمامَ مَجلِسِ القَضاءِ. وَكُلُّ مَنْ يَقُولُ لِشَخصٍ آخَرَ: ‹أيُّها الغَبِيُّ› يَستَحِقُّ الجَحِيمَ.

23 T herefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you,

«لِذَلِكَ إنْ كُنتَ تُقَدِّمُ تَقدِمَةً عَلَى المَذْبَحِ، وَهُناكَ تَذَكَّرْتَ أنَّ شَخصاً آخَرَ لَهُ شَيءٌ عَلَيكَ،

24 l eave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

فَاترُكْ تَقدِمَتَكَ هُناكَ أمامَ المَذْبَحِ، وَاذْهَبْ وَاصْطَلِحْ مَعَ ذَلِكَ الشَّخصِ أوَّلاً، ثُمَّ ارجِعْ وَقَدِّمْ تَقدِمَتَكَ.

25 A gree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the way with him, lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.

«سالِمْ خَصمَكَ سَرِيعاً، بَينَما تَمشِي مَعَهُ فِي الطَّرِيقِ إلَى المَحكَمَةِ. وَإلّا فَإنَّهُ سَيُسَلِّمُكَ إلَى القاضِي، وَالقاضِي سَيُسَلِّمُكَ إلَى السَّجّانِ فَيُلقِي بِكَ إلَى السِّجْنِ.

26 A ssuredly, I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny. Adultery in the Heart

أقولُ الحَقَّ لَكَ، إنَّكَ لَنْ تَخرُجَ مِنْ هُناكَ إلَىْ أنْ تَسُدَّ آخِرَ فِلْسٍ عَلَيكَ. الزِّنَى

27 “ You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’

«سَمِعْتُمْ أنَّهُ قِيلَ: ‹لاتَزْنِ.›

28 B ut I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

أمّا أنا فَأقُولُ لَكُمْ: إنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ نَظَرَ إلَى امْرأةٍ لِيَشتَهيَها، فَقَدْ زَنَى بِها فِي قَلبِهِ.

29 I f your right eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell.

لِذَلِكَ إنْ كانَتْ عَينُكَ اليُمنَى تَدفَعُكَ إلَى الخَطِيَّةِ، فَاقلَعْها وَألقِها بَعِيداً عَنْكَ. فَالأفضَلُ أنْ تَفقِدَ عُضْواً واحِداً مِنْ جِسْمِكَ، مِنْ أنْ يُطرَحَ جِسْمُكَ كُلُّهُ إلَى جَهَنَّمَ.

30 A nd if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and cast it from you; for it is more profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into hell. Marriage Is Sacred and Binding

وَإنْ كانَتْ يَدُكَ اليُمنَى تَدفَعُكَ إلَى الخَطِيَّةِ، فَاقطَعْها وَألقِها بَعِيداً عَنْكَ. فَالأفضَلُ أنْ تَفقِدَ عُضْواً واحِداً مِنْ جِسْمِكَ، مِنْ أنْ يُطرَحَ جِسْمُكَ كُلُّهُ إلَى جَهَنَّمَ. الطَّلاق

31 “ Furthermore it has been said, ‘Whoever divorces his wife, let him give her a certificate of divorce.’

«قِيلَ أيضاً: ‹إذا طَلَّقَ أحَدٌ زَوجَتَهُ، فَليُعطِها وَثِيقَةً تُثبِتُ ذَلِكَ.›

32 B ut I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery. Jesus Forbids Oaths

أمّا أنا فَأقُولُ لَكُمْ إنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ يُطَلِّقُ زَوجَتَهُ، إلّا بِسَبَبِ الزِّنَى، فَإنَّهُ يُعَرِّضُها لارْتِكابِ الزِّنَى. وَمَنْ يَتَزَوَّجُ امْرأةً مُطَلَّقَةً، فَإنَّهُ يَزنِي. القَسَم

33 “ Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’

«سَمِعْتُمْ أنَّهُ قِيلَ أيضاً لِآبائِكُمْ: ‹لا تَحلِفْ بِالكَذِبِ، بَلْ أوفِ بِما أقسَمْتَ بِأنْ تَفعَلَهُ لِلرَّبِّ.›

34 B ut I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne;

أمّا أنا فَأقُولُ لَكُمْ: لا تَحلِفُوا مُطلَقاً.

35 n or by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

لا تَحلِفُوا لا بِالسَّماءِ لِأنَّها عَرشُ اللهِ، وَلا بِالأرْضِ لِأنَّها مَسنَدُ قَدَميهِ، وَلا بِمَدِينَةِ القُدسِ لِأنَّها مَدِينَةُ المَلِكِ العَظِيمِ.

36 N or shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black.

لا تَحلِفْ بِرَأسِكَ، لِأنَّكَ لا تَستَطِيعُ أنْ تَجعَلَ شَعرَةً مِنْهُ سَوداءَ أوْ بَيضاءَ.

37 B ut let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one. Go the Second Mile

فَإنْ أرَدْتُمْ أنْ تَقُولُوا ‹نَعَمْ،› فَقُولُوا ‹نَعَمْ.› وَإنْ أرَدْتُمْ أنْ تَقُولُوا ‹لا،› فَقُولُوا ‹لا.› وَكُلُّ ما يَزِيدُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ فَهُوَ مِنَ الشِّرِّيرِ. مُقاوَمَةُ الشَّرّ

38 “ You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’

«سَمِعْتُمْ أنَّهُ قِيلَ: ‹العَينُ بِالعَينِ، وَالسِّنُّ بِالسِّنِّ.›

39 B ut I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

أمّا أنا فَأقُولُ: لا تُقاوِمُوا الشَّرَّ. بَلْ إنْ لَطَمَكَ أحَدٌ عَلَى خَدِّكَ الأيمَنِ، فَقَدِّمْ لَهُ الخَدَّ الآخَرَ أيضاً.

40 I f anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.

وَإنْ أرادَ أحَدٌ أنْ يُحاكِمَكَ لِيَأخُذَ قَمِيصَكَ، فَدَعْهُ يَأخُذُ مِعطَفَكَ أيضاً.

41 A nd whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

وَإنْ أجبَرَكَ أحَدٌ عَلَى السَّيرِ مَعَهُ مِيلاً واحِداً، فَامشِ مَعَهُ مِيلَينِ.

42 G ive to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away. Love Your Enemies

وَإنْ طَلَبَ مِنْكَ أحَدٌ شَيئاً، فَأعطِهِ إيّاهُ. وَلا تَرفُضْ إقراضَ مَنْ يَطلُبُ الاقتِراضَ مِنْكَ. مَحَبَّةُ الجَمِيع

43 “ You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

«سَمِعْتُمْ أنَّهُ قِيلَ: ‹أحبِبْ صاحِبَكَ، وَأبغُضْ عَدُوَّكَ.›

44 B ut I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

أمّا أنا فَأقُولُ لَكُمْ: أحِبُّوا أعداءَكُمْ، وَصَلُّوا مِنْ أجلِ الَّذِينَ يَضْطَهِدُونَكُمْ،

45 t hat you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

فَتَكُونُوا بِذَلِكَ أبناءَ أبِيكُمُ الَّذِي فِي السَّماءِ. لِأنَّ اللهَ يَجعَلُ الشَّمْسَ تُشْرِقُ عَلَى الخُطاةِ وَالصّالِحِينَ، وَيُرسِلُ المَطَرَ إلَى الأبرارِ وَالأشْرارِ.

46 F or if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

فَإنْ أحبَبْتُمْ مَنْ يُحِبُّونَكُمْ فَقَط، فَأيَّةَ مُكافَئَةٍ تَستَحِقُّونَ؟ أفَلا يَفْعَلُ جامِعُو الضَّرائِبِ ذَلِكَ أيضاً؟

47 A nd if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?

وَإنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحَيُّونَ إخْوَتَكُمْ فَقَطْ، فَما الَّذِي يُمَيِّزُكُمْ عَنِ الآخَرِينَ؟ أفَلا يَفعَلُ حَتَّى عابِدُو الأوثانِ ذَلِكَ أيضاً؟

48 T herefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

لِذَلِكَ كُونُوا كامِلِينَ كَما أنَّ أباكُمُ السَّماوِيَّ كامِلٌ.
