1 A fter this it happened that Absalom provided himself with chariots and horses, and fifty men to run before him.

بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ، تَملَّك أبْشالُومُ مَرْكَبَةً وَأحْصِنَة، وَجَعَلَ خَمْسينَ رَجُلاً يَرْكُضُونَ أمامَهُ بينَما يَقودُ مركَبتَهُ.

2 N ow Absalom would rise early and stand beside the way to the gate. So it was, whenever anyone who had a lawsuit came to the king for a decision, that Absalom would call to him and say, “What city are you from?” And he would say, “Your servant is from such and such a tribe of Israel.”

كانَ أبْشالُومُ ينَهَضُ باكِراً ويقِفُ بالقُرْبِ من البوّابةِ. وراحَ يُراقِبُ أيَّ شَخْصٍ لَدَيْهِ مشاكِلَ، وَهوَ في طريقِهِ إلَى الملِكِ داوُدَ للحُكْم. فَيُكَلِّمُ ذاكَ الشَّخْصَ بِقولِهِ: «مِنْ أيِّ مدينَةٍ أنْتَ؟» فَيُجيبُ الرَّجُلُ: «أنا مِنْ عائِلَةِ كَذا وَكَذا من قَبائِلِ إسْرائِيل.»

3 T hen Absalom would say to him, “Look, your case is good and right; but there is no deputy of the king to hear you.”

فيقولُ أبشالوم لِذَلِكَ الرَّجُلِ: «أنْكَ مُحِقٌّ في مَطالبِكَ، لَكِنَّ الملِكَ داوُدَ لَنْ يُصغِيَ إليكَ.»

4 M oreover Absalom would say, “Oh, that I were made judge in the land, and everyone who has any suit or cause would come to me; then I would give him justice.”

فَيَقولُ أبشالومُ أيضاً: «أهِ، أتمنّى لَوْ أنَّ أحداً يَجْعَلُني قاضِياً في هذا البَلَدِ! حينَها أتَمَكَّنُ مِنْ مُساعَدَةِ كُلِّ رَجُلٍ يأتيني بِمشْكِلَةٍ فيتَوَصَّلَ إلَى حَلٍّ عادِلٍ.»

5 A nd so it was, whenever anyone came near to bow down to him, that he would put out his hand and take him and kiss him.

وَإذا جاءَ شَخْصٌ إلَى أبشالوم وَانحَنَى أمامَهُ، كانَ يُعامِلُهُ كَما لَوْ كانَ صديقاً حَميماً. فَكانَ يَقْتَرِبُ منْهُ، ويُمْسِكُ بِهِ وَيُقبِّلُهُ.

6 I n this manner Absalom acted toward all Israel who came to the king for judgment. So Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.

هَكَذا فَعَلَ أبشالومُ مَعَ جَمِيعِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ الّذينَ جاءُوا إلَى المَلِكِ داوُدَ لِلقَضاءِ. وَهَكَذا، فازَ بقلوبِ جَمِيعِ بَنِي إسْرائِيلَ. أبشالومُ يُخَطِّطُ لأخْذِ مَملَكةِ داوُد

7 N ow it came to pass after forty years that Absalom said to the king, “Please, let me go to Hebron and pay the vow which I made to the Lord.

بَعْدَ مُرورِ أرْبَعِ سنواتٍ، قالَ أبشالومُ لِلمَلِكِ داوُدَ: «أرْجوكَ أنْ تَسمَحَ لِي بِأنْ اذْهَبَ لإتْمامِ وعْدِيَ الّذي قَطَعْتُهُ للهِ في حَبْرُونَ.

8 F or your servant took a vow while I dwelt at Geshur in Syria, saying, ‘If the Lord indeed brings me back to Jerusalem, then I will serve the Lord.’”

قَطَعْتُ ذاكَ الوَعْدَ بينما كُنْتُ لا أزالُ أعيشُ فِي جَشُورَ، فِي أرامَ، فَقُلْتُ: ‹إنْ أعادَني اللهُ إلَى مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ خَدَمْتُهُ.›»

9 A nd the king said to him, “Go in peace.” So he arose and went to Hebron.

فقالَ المَلِكُ داود: «اذْهَبْ بِسَلامٍ.» وَذَهَبَ أبشالومُ إلَى حَبْرُونَ.

10 T hen Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, “As soon as you hear the sound of the trumpet, then you shall say, ‘Absalom reigns in Hebron!’”

لَكِنَّهُ أرْسَلَ الجَواسِيسَ إلَى عائِلاتِ إسْرائِيلَ فَقالُوا للنّاسِ: «عندما تَسْمَعونَ البوقَ، قولوا: ‹لقد أصْبحَ أبْشالومُ مَلِكاً فِي حَبْرُونَ!›»

11 A nd with Absalom went two hundred men invited from Jerusalem, and they went along innocently and did not know anything.

وَدَعا أبشالومُ مِئَتَيْ رَجُلٍ للذَّهابِ مَعَهُ، فغادروا مَدينَةَ القُدْسِ غَيرَ عالِمينَ بِما كانَ يُخَطِّطُ لَهُ.

12 T hen Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David’s counselor, from his city—from Giloh—while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy grew strong, for the people with Absalom continually increased in number. David Escapes from Jerusalem

وَبينما كانَ أبشالومُ يُقَدِّمَ الذَّبائِحَ، استَدْعَى أخِيتُوفَلَ الجِيلُونِيِّ مِنْ مدينتِهِ جِيلُو. وَأخِيتُوفَلُ هُوَ مِنْ مُستَشارِي داودَ. كانَتْ مُؤامَرَةُ أبشالومَ تَنجَحُ، وَكانَ عدَدُ الذين يَدْعَمُونَهُ يزْدادُ أكْثَرَ فَأكْثَرَ. داوُدُ يَعلَمُ بِمُخَطّطاتِ أبشالوم

13 N ow a messenger came to David, saying, “The hearts of the men of Israel are with Absalom.”

وجاءَ رَجُلٌ يَنْقُلُ الأخْبارَ إلَى داوُدَ، فَقالَ: «لقد بدأ بَنُو إسْرائِيلَ باتِّباعِ أبشالومَ.»

14 S o David said to all his servants who were with him at Jerusalem, “Arise, and let us flee, or we shall not escape from Absalom. Make haste to depart, lest he overtake us suddenly and bring disaster upon us, and strike the city with the edge of the sword.”

فَقالَ داوُدُ لضُبّاطِهِ جَمِيعاً الّذينَ كانوا مَعَهُ في مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ: «يَنبَغِي أنْ نَهرُبَ! إنْ لَمْ نَهرُبِ الآنَ، لَنْ يَدَعَنا أبشالومُ نَفَعَلْ ذَلِكَ. فَلْنُسْرِعْ قَبلَ أنْ يَقْبُضَ عَلَيَنا فَيُدَمِّرَنا جَمِيعاً، ويَقْتُلَ أهلَ القُدْسِ.»

15 A nd the king’s servants said to the king, “We are your servants, ready to do whatever my lord the king commands.”

فقالَ ضُبّاطُ المَلِكِ لَهُ: «نَفْعَلُ نَحنُ خُدّامَكَ كَلَّ ماَ تَطلُبُهُ يا مَولانا.» هروبُ داوُدَ وشعبِه

16 T hen the king went out with all his household after him. But the king left ten women, concubines, to keep the house.

فَخَرَجَ الملِكُ داوُدُ مع النّاسِ كُلِّهم الّذين في مَنْزِلِهِ. وتَرَكَ المَلِكُ عَشْراً مِنْ نِسائِهِ الجَوارِي للاعْتِناءِ بِالمَنزِلِ.

17 A nd the king went out with all the people after him, and stopped at the outskirts.

خَرَجَ المَلِكُ وكُلُّ جماعتهُ تَتْبَعُهُ، وتوقَّفُوا عِنْدَ آخرِ مَنْزِلٍ.

18 T hen all his servants passed before him; and all the Cherethites, all the Pelethites, and all the Gittites, six hundred men who had followed him from Gath, passed before the king.

مَرَّ ضُباطُ الملِكِ كلُّهُم مِنْ أمامِهِ، كَذَلِكَ الكريتيّونَ وَالفليتيّون وَالجِتِّييون وقد كانوا سِتَّ مِئَةِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ جَتِّ.

19 T hen the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why are you also going with us? Return and remain with the king. For you are a foreigner and also an exile from your own place.

قالَ الملِكُ لإتّايَ الجَتِّيَّ: «لِمَ أنْتَ ذاهِبٌ مَعَنا أيْضاً؟ عُدْ وَابْقَ معَ المَلِكِ الجديدِ أبْشالومَ. أنْتَ غريبٌ وهَذِهِ لَيسَتْ بَلَدَكَ الأُمَّ.

20 I n fact, you came only yesterday. Should I make you wander up and down with us today, since I go I know not where? Return, and take your brethren back. Mercy and truth be with you.”

بالأمَسِ فَقَطْ جِئتَ إليَّ، فَهَلْ أسْمَحُ لَكَ الآنَ أنْ تَتَنَقَّلَ مَعَنا مِنْ مكانٍ إلَى مَكانٍ؟ بَلْ خُذْ إخْوَتَكَ وَعُدْ، وَلتُرافِقْكَ مَحَبَةُ اللهِ وَأمانَتُهُ.»

21 B ut Ittai answered the king and said, “ As the Lord lives, and as my lord the king lives, surely in whatever place my lord the king shall be, whether in death or life, even there also your servant will be.”

لَكِنَّ إتّايَ أجابَ المَلِكَ: «أقسِمُ باللهِ الحَيِّ، وبِحَياتِكَ، سَأكونُ أنا خادِمَكَ مَعَكَ في الحياةِ أوِ المَوتِ يا مَولايَ المَلِكُ!»

22 S o David said to Ittai, “Go, and cross over.” Then Ittai the Gittite and all his men and all the little ones who were with him crossed over.

فقالَ داوُدُ لإتّايَ: «تَعالَ، وَلْنَعبُرْ وادِي قَدْرُونَ.» وَهَكَذا عَبَرَ إتّايُ الجَتِّيُّ وادِي قَدْرُونَ مَعَ جَماعَتِهِ كُلِّهِم وَأولادِهِمْ.

23 A nd all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people crossed over. The king himself also crossed over the Brook Kidron, and all the people crossed over toward the way of the wilderness.

وكانَ الشَّعبُ كُلُّهُ يَبْكِي بِصَوْتٍ عالٍ. وعبَرَ المَلِكُ داوُدُ وادِي قَدْرُونَ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ الشَّعبُ كُلُّهُ إلَى الصَّحْراءِ.

24 T here was Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and Abiathar went up until all the people had finished crossing over from the city.

وَكانَ صادُوقُ وَاللّاوِيُّونَ كلُّهُم مَعَهُ يَحْمِلُونَ صُنْدوقَ عَهْدِ اللهِ. وَضعوا صُندوقَ عَهْدِ اللهِ المُقَدَّسَ وَتَلا أبِياتارُ الصَّلواتِ وَقَدَّمَ الذَّبائِحَ إلَى أنْ غادَرَ الشَّعبُ كلُّهُ مَدينَةَ القُدْسِ.

25 T hen the king said to Zadok, “Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the Lord, He will bring me back and show me both it and His dwelling place.

قالَ المَلِكُ داوُدُ لِصادُوقَ: «أعِدْ صُنْدوقَ اللهِ المُقَدَّسَ إلَى مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ. فإنْ كانَ اللهُ راضِياً عنّي، أرْجَعَني وَجَعَلَنِي أرَى مَدينَةَ القُدْسِ وَهَيكَلَهُ.

26 B ut if He says thus: ‘I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.”

لَكِنْ إنْ قالَ إنَّه غيرُ راضٍ عنّي، فَليَصنَعْ بِي أيَّ شَيءٍ يُريدُهُ.»

27 T he king also said to Zadok the priest, “ Are you not a seer? Return to the city in peace, and your two sons with you, Ahimaaz your son, and Jonathan the son of Abiathar.

فقالَ المَلِكُ للكاهنِ صادُوقَ: «أنْتَ نبيٌّ. عُدْ إلَى المدينَةِ بسلامٍ. خُذِ ابْنَكَ أخِيمَعَصَ وَيُوناثانَ بنَ أبِياتارَ.

28 S ee, I will wait in the plains of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me.”

سَأنتَظِرُ بالقُرْبِ مِنْ مَعابِرِ النَّهْرِ إلَى داخِلِ الصَّحراءِ، حَتَّى أسْمَعَ ما تَقُولُهُ لِي.»

29 T herefore Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark of God back to Jerusalem. And they remained there.

وَهَكَذا أعادَ صادُوقُ وَأبِياتارُ صُنْدوقَ اللهِ المُقَدَّسَ إلَى مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ وبَقِيا هُناكَ. صلاةُ داوُدَ ضِدَّ أخِيتُوفَل

30 S o David went up by the Ascent of the Mount of Olives, and wept as he went up; and he had his head covered and went barefoot. And all the people who were with him covered their heads and went up, weeping as they went up.

وَصَعِدَ داوُدُ جَبَلَ الزَّيتُونِ. كانَ يَبكِي مُغَطِّياً رَأْسَهُ وَيَمْشِي حافِيَ القَدَمَينِ. كَذَلِكَ غَطَّى النّاسُ الَّذينَ كانُوا مَعَهُ كلُّهُمْ رُؤوسَهُمْ وَذَهَبوا مَعَهُ يَبْكونَ.

31 T hen someone told David, saying, “Ahithophel is among the conspirators with Absalom.” And David said, “O Lord, I pray, turn the counsel of Ahithophel into foolishness!”

ثُمَّ قالَ أحَدُهُم لِداودَ: «أخِيتُوفَلُ واحِدٌ مِنَ المُتآمِرِينَ مَعَ أبْشالومَ.» فَصَلَّى داوُدُ: «يا اللهُ ، أسألُكَ أنْ تَجْعَلَ نصيحَةَ أخِيتُوفَلَ بلا مَنْفَعَةٍ.»

32 N ow it happened when David had come to the top of the mountain, where he worshiped God—there was Hushai the Archite coming to meet him with his robe torn and dust on his head.

جاءَ داوُدُ إلَى قِمَّةِ الجَبَلِ حَيثُ كانَ كَثِيراً ما يعْبُدُ اللهَ. فِي ذَلِكَ اليَومِ، جاءَ إليهِ حُوشايُ الأرْكِيُّ. كانَ مِعْطَفُهُ مُمَزَّقاً وَعَلَى رَأْسِهِ غُبارٌ.

33 D avid said to him, “If you go on with me, then you will become a burden to me.

فقالَ داوُدُ لِحُوشايَ: «إن ذَهَبْتَ مَعِي، كُنْتَ مُجرَّدَ شَخصٍ آخرَ يَتَطَلَّبُ الاهْتِمامَ لأمْرِهِ.

34 B ut if you return to the city, and say to Absalom, ‘I will be your servant, O king; as I was your father’s servant previously, so I will now also be your servant,’ then you may defeat the counsel of Ahithophel for me.

أمّا إذا عُدْتَ إلَى مَدينَةِ القُدْسِ، فَسَتَتَمَكَّنَ مِنْ جَعلِ نَصيحَةِ أخِيتُوفَلَ بِلا مَنْفَعَةٍ. قُلْ لأبْشالُومَ: ‹أُيُّها المَلِكُ: أنا خادِمَكَ، قَدْ خَدَمْتُ وَالدَكَ، أمّا الآنَ فسأخدمُكَ.›

35 A nd do you not have Zadok and Abiathar the priests with you there? Therefore it will be that whatever you hear from the king’s house, you shall tell to Zadok and Abiathar the priests.

وَسَيَكُونُ مَعَكَ الكاهِنانِ صادُوقُ وَأبِياتارُ. أخْبِرْهُما بِكُلِّ ما تَسْمَعُهُ فِي قَصرِ المَلِكِ.

36 I ndeed they have there with them their two sons, Ahimaaz, Zadok’s son, and Jonathan, Abiathar’s son; and by them you shall send me everything you hear.”

وَسَيَكُونُ مَعَهُما أخِيمَعَصُ بْنُ صادُوقَ وَيُوناثانُ بنُ أبِياتارَ، فَتُرْسِلُهُما أنْتَ لإخْبارِي بِكُلِّ ما تَسْمَعُهُ.»

37 S o Hushai, David’s friend, went into the city. And Absalom came into Jerusalem.

فَدَخَلَ حُوشايُ صَدِيقُ الملِكِ إلَى مَدِينَةِ القُدْسِ فِي الوَقتِ الَّذِي وَصَلَ فِيهِ أبْشالُومُ.
