1 N ow it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these sayings, that He departed from Galilee and came to the region of Judea beyond the Jordan.

Tendo acabado de dizer essas coisas, Jesus saiu da Galiléia e foi para a região da Judéia, no outro lado do Jordão.

2 A nd great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there.

Grandes multidões o seguiam, e ele as curou ali.

3 T he Pharisees also came to Him, testing Him, and saying to Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for just any reason?”

Alguns fariseus aproximaram-se dele para pô-lo à prova. E perguntaram-lhe: “É permitido ao homem divorciar-se de sua mulher por qualquer motivo?”

4 A nd He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’

Ele respondeu: “Vocês não leram que, no princípio, o Criador ‘os fez homem e mulher’

5 a nd said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?

e disse: ‘Por essa razão, o homem deixará pai e mãe e se unirá à sua mulher, e os dois se tornarão uma só carne’ ?

6 S o then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Assim, eles já não são dois, mas sim uma só carne. Portanto, o que Deus uniu, ninguém separe”.

7 T hey said to Him, “Why then did Moses command to give a certificate of divorce, and to put her away?”

Perguntaram eles: “Então, por que Moisés mandou dar uma certidão de divórcio à mulher e mandá-la embora?”

8 H e said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so.

Jesus respondeu: “Moisés permitiu que vocês se divorciassem de suas mulheres por causa da dureza de coração de vocês. Mas não foi assim desde o princípio.

9 A nd I say to you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.”

Eu lhes digo que todo aquele que se divorciar de sua mulher, exceto por imoralidade sexual, e se casar com outra mulher, estará cometendo adultério”.

10 H is disciples said to Him, “If such is the case of the man with his wife, it is better not to marry.” Jesus Teaches on Celibacy

Os discípulos lhe disseram: “Se esta é a situação entre o homem e sua mulher, é melhor não casar”.

11 B ut He said to them, “All cannot accept this saying, but only those to whom it has been given:

Jesus respondeu: “Nem todos têm condições de aceitar esta palavra; somente aqueles a quem isso é dado.

12 F or there are eunuchs who were born thus from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men, and there are eunuchs who have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven’s sake. He who is able to accept it, let him accept it.” Jesus Blesses Little Children

Alguns são eunucos porque nasceram assim; outros foram feitos assim pelos homens; outros ainda se fizeram eunucos por causa do Reino dos céus. Quem puder aceitar isso, aceite”. Jesus e as Crianças

13 T hen little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them.

Depois trouxeram crianças a Jesus, para que lhes impusesse as mãos e orasse por elas. Mas os discípulos os repreendiam.

14 B ut Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

Então disse Jesus: “Deixem vir a mim as crianças e não as impeçam; pois o Reino dos céus pertence aos que são semelhantes a elas”.

15 A nd He laid His hands on them and departed from there. Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

Depois de lhes impor as mãos, partiu dali. O Jovem Rico

16 N ow behold, one came and said to Him, “Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”

Eis que alguém se aproximou de Jesus e lhe perguntou: “Mestre, que farei de bom para ter a vida eterna?”

17 S o He said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

Respondeu-lhe Jesus: “Por que você me pergunta sobre o que é bom? Há somente um que é bom. Se você quer entrar na vida, obedeça aos mandamentos”.

18 H e said to Him, “Which ones?” Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’

“Quais?”, perguntou ele. Jesus respondeu: “‘Não matarás, não adulterarás, não furtarás, não darás falso testemunho,

19 ‘ Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”

honra teu pai e tua mãe’ e ‘Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo’ ”.

20 T he young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?”

Disse-lhe o jovem: “A tudo isso tenho obedecido. O que me falta ainda?”

21 J esus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”

Jesus respondeu: “Se você quer ser perfeito, vá, venda os seus bens e dê o dinheiro aos pobres, e você terá um tesouro nos céus. Depois, venha e siga-me”.

22 B ut when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. With God All Things Are Possible

Ouvindo isso, o jovem afastou-se triste, porque tinha muitas riquezas.

23 T hen Jesus said to His disciples, “Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

Então Jesus disse aos discípulos: “Digo-lhes a verdade: Dificilmente um rico entrará no Reino dos céus.

24 A nd again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

E lhes digo ainda: É mais fácil passar um camelo pelo fundo de uma agulha do que um rico entrar no Reino de Deus”.

25 W hen His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

Ao ouvirem isso, os discípulos ficaram perplexos e perguntaram: “Neste caso, quem pode ser salvo?”

26 B ut Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Jesus olhou para eles e respondeu: “Para o homem é impossível, mas para Deus todas as coisas são possíveis”.

27 T hen Peter answered and said to Him, “See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?”

Então Pedro lhe respondeu: “Nós deixamos tudo para seguir-te! Que será de nós?”

28 S o Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

Jesus lhes disse: “Digo-lhes a verdade: Por ocasião da regeneração de todas as coisas, quando o Filho do homem se assentar em seu trono glorioso, vocês que me seguiram também se assentarão em doze tronos, para julgar as doze tribos de Israel.

29 A nd everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.

E todos os que tiverem deixado casas, irmãos, irmãs, pai, mãe, filhos ou campos, por minha causa, receberão cem vezes mais e herdarão a vida eterna.

30 B ut many who are first will be last, and the last first.

Contudo, muitos primeiros serão últimos, e muitos últimos serão primeiros.
