1 T hen Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.

Miriã e Arão começaram a criticar Moisés porque ele havia se casado com uma mulher etíope.

2 S o they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.

“Será que o Senhor tem falado apenas por meio de Moisés?”, perguntaram. “Também não tem ele falado por meio de nós?” E o Senhor ouviu isso.

3 ( Now the man Moses was very humble, more than all men who were on the face of the earth.)

Ora, Moisés era um homem muito paciente, mais do que qualquer outro que havia na terra.

4 S uddenly the Lord said to Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, “Come out, you three, to the tabernacle of meeting!” So the three came out.

Imediatamente o Senhor disse a Moisés, a Arão e a Miriã: “Dirijam-se à Tenda do Encontro, vocês três”. E os três foram para lá.

5 T hen the Lord came down in the pillar of cloud and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam. And they both went forward.

Então o Senhor desceu numa coluna de nuvem e, pondo-se à entrada da Tenda, chamou Arão e Miriã. Os dois vieram à frente,

6 T hen He said, “Hear now My words: If there is a prophet among you, I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision; I speak to him in a dream.

e ele disse: “Ouçam as minhas palavras: Quando entre vocês há um profeta do Senhor, a ele me revelo em visões, em sonhos falo com ele.

7 N ot so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house.

Não é assim, porém, com meu servo Moisés, que é fiel em toda a minha casa.

8 I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”

Com ele falo face a face, claramente, e não por enigmas; e ele vê a forma do Senhor. Por que não temeram criticar meu servo Moisés?”

9 S o the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed.

Então a ira do Senhor acendeu-se contra eles, e ele os deixou.

10 A nd when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.

Quando a nuvem se afastou da Tenda, Miriã estava leprosa; sua aparência era como a da neve. Arão voltou-se para Miriã, viu que ela estava com lepra

11 S o Aaron said to Moses, “Oh, my lord! Please do not lay this sin on us, in which we have done foolishly and in which we have sinned.

e disse a Moisés: “Por favor, meu senhor, não nos castigue pelo pecado que tão tolamente cometemos.

12 P lease do not let her be as one dead, whose flesh is half consumed when he comes out of his mother’s womb!”

Não permita que ela fique como um feto abortado que sai do ventre de sua mãe com a metade do corpo destruído”.

13 S o Moses cried out to the Lord, saying, “Please heal her, O God, I pray!”

Então Moisés clamou ao Senhor: “Ó Deus, por misericórdia, concede-lhe cura!”

14 T hen the Lord said to Moses, “If her father had but spit in her face, would she not be shamed seven days? Let her be shut out of the camp seven days, and afterward she may be received again. ”

O Senhor respondeu a Moisés: “Se o pai dela lhe tivesse cuspido no rosto, não estaria ela envergonhada sete dias? Que fique isolada fora do acampamento sete dias; depois ela poderá ser trazida de volta”.

15 S o Miriam was shut out of the camp seven days, and the people did not journey till Miriam was brought in again.

Então Miriã ficou isolada sete dias fora do acampamento, e o povo não partiu enquanto ela não foi trazida de volta.

16 A nd afterward the people moved from Hazeroth and camped in the Wilderness of Paran.

Depois disso, partiram de Hazerote e acamparam no deserto de Parã.
