Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. Head Coverings

2 O s alabo, hermanos, porque en todo os acordáis de mí, y retenéis las instrucciones tal como os las entregué.

Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things and keep the traditions just as I delivered them to you.

3 P ero quiero que sepáis que Cristo es la cabeza de todo varón, y el varón es la cabeza de la mujer, y Dios la cabeza de Cristo.

But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.

4 T odo varón que ora o profetiza con la cabeza cubierta, afrenta a su cabeza.

Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonors his head.

5 P ero toda mujer que ora o profetiza con la cabeza descubierta, afrenta a su cabeza; porque se hace enteramente igual que la que se ha rapado.

But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head, for that is one and the same as if her head were shaved.

6 P orque si la mujer no se cubre, que se corte también el cabello; y si le es vergonzoso a la mujer cortarse el cabello o raparse, que se cubra.

For if a woman is not covered, let her also be shorn. But if it is shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaved, let her be covered.

7 P orque el varón no debe cubrirse la cabeza, pues él es imagen y gloria de Dios; pues la mujer es gloria del varón.

For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man.

8 P orque el varón no procede de la mujer, sino la mujer del varón,

For man is not from woman, but woman from man.

9 y tampoco el varón fue creado por causa de la mujer, sino la mujer por causa del varón.

Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man.

10 P or tanto, la mujer debe tener señal de autoridad sobre su cabeza, por causa de los ángeles.

For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.

11 S in embargo, en el Señor, ni el varón es aparte de la mujer, ni la mujer aparte del varón;

Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord.

12 p orque así como la mujer procede del varón, también el varón nace mediante la mujer; pero todo procede de Dios.

For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God.

13 J uzgad entre vosotros mismos: ¿Es propio que la mujer ore a Dios sin cubrirse la cabeza?

Judge among yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?

14 L a naturaleza misma ¿no os enseña que al varón le es deshonroso dejarse crecer el cabello?

Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him?

15 P or el contrario, a la mujer dejarse crecer el cabello le es honroso; porque en lugar de velo le es dado el cabello.

But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering.

16 C on todo eso, si alguno es amigo de discusiones, nosotros no tenemos tal costumbre, ni las iglesias de Dios. Abusos en la Cena del Señor

But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God. Conduct at the Lord’s Supper

17 P ero al daros las instrucciones que siguen, no os alabo; porque no os congregáis para lo mejor, sino para lo peor.

Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.

18 P ues en primer lugar, cuando os reunís como iglesia, oigo que hay entre vosotros divisiones; y en parte lo creo.

For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.

19 P orque es preciso que entre vosotros haya diferentes bandos, para que se hagan manifiestos entre vosotros los que son aprobados.

For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you.

20 C uando, pues, os reunís vosotros, eso no es comer la cena del Señor.

Therefore when you come together in one place, it is not to eat the Lord’s Supper.

21 P orque al comer, cada uno se adelanta a tomar su propia cena; y el uno tiene hambre, y el otro se embriaga.

For in eating, each one takes his own supper ahead of others; and one is hungry and another is drunk.

22 ¿ Pues acaso no tenéis casas en que comáis y bebáis? ¿O menospreciáis la iglesia de Dios, y avergonzáis a los que no tienen nada? ¿Qué os diré? ¿Os alabaré? En esto no os alabo. Institución de la Cena del Señor

What! Do you not have houses to eat and drink in? Or do you despise the church of God and shame those who have nothing? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you. Institution of the Lord’s Supper

23 P orque yo recibí de parte del Señor lo que también os he enseñado: Que el Señor Jesús, la noche que fue entregado, tomó pan;

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;

24 y después de dar gracias, lo partió, y dijo: Tomad, comed; esto es mi cuerpo que por vosotros es partido; haced esto en memoria de mí.

and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”

25 A simismo tomó también la copa, después de haber cenado, diciendo: Esta copa es el nuevo pacto en mi sangre; haced esto todas las veces que la bebáis, en memoria de mí.

In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

26 P orque todas las veces que comáis este pan, y bebáis esta copa, la muerte del Señor estáis proclamando hasta que él venga. Tomando la Cena indignamente

For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Examine Yourself

27 D e manera que cualquiera que coma este pan o beba esta copa del Señor indignamente, será culpable del cuerpo y de la sangre del Señor.

Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 P or tanto, examínese cada uno a sí mismo, y coma entonces del pan, y beba de la copa.

But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.

29 P orque el que come y bebe indignamente, sin discernir el cuerpo del Señor, come y bebe su propio juicio.

For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

30 P or lo cual hay muchos enfermos y debilitados entre vosotros, y bastantes duermen.

For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.

31 S i, pues, nos examinásemos a nosotros mismos, no seríamos juzgados;

For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged.

32 m as al ser juzgados, somos corregidos por el Señor, para que no seamos condenados con el mundo.

But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.

33 A sí que, hermanos míos, cuando os reunís a comer, esperaos unos a otros.

Therefore, my brethren, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.

34 S i alguno tiene hambre, coma en su casa, para que no os reunáis para juicio. Las demás cosas las pondré en orden cuando vaya.

But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, lest you come together for judgment. And the rest I will set in order when I come.
