1 G uardaos de hacer vuestra justicia delante de los hombres para ser vistos por ellos; de otra manera, no tendréis recompensa ante vuestro Padre que está en los cielos.

“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.

2 C uando, pues, des limosna, no hagas tocar trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las calles, para ser alabados por los hombres; de cierto os digo que ya están recibiendo su recompensa.

Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

3 P ero cuando tú estés dando limosna, que no sepa tu mano izquierda lo que hace tu derecha,

But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

4 p ara que tu limosna quede en secreto; y tu Padre que ve en lo oculto, te lo recompensará en público. Jesucristo y la oración

that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly. The Model Prayer

5 Y cuando ores, no seas como los hipócritas; porque les gusta orar en pie en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las plazas para ser vistos de los hombres; de cierto os digo que ya están recibiendo su recompensa.

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

6 P ero tú, cuando ores, entra en tu aposento, y a puerta cerrada, ora a tu Padre que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre que ve en lo secreto, te lo recompensará en público.

But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

7 Y cuando estéis orando, no parloteéis sin medida, como los gentiles, que piensan que serán oídos por su mucha palabrería.

And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.

8 N o os hagáis, pues, semejantes a ellos; porque vuestro Padre sabe de qué cosas tenéis necesidad, antes que vosotros le pidáis.

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.

9 V osotros, pues, oraréis así: Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre.

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

10 V enga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, como en el cielo, así también en la tierra.

Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

11 E l pan nuestro de cada día, dánoslo hoy.

Give us this day our daily bread.

12 Y perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros perdonamos a nuestros deudores.

And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

13 Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal; porque tuyo es el reino, el poder y la gloria, por todos los siglos. Amén.

And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

14 P orque si perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas, os perdonará también a vosotros vuestro Padre celestial;

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

15 p ero si no perdonáis a los hombres sus ofensas, tampoco vuestro Padre os perdonará vuestras ofensas. Jesucristo y el ayuno

But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Fasting to Be Seen Only by God

16 C uando ayunéis, no pongáis cara triste como los hipócritas; porque ellos desfiguran sus rostros para mostrar a los hombres que ayunan; de cierto os digo que ya están recibiendo su recompensa.

“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

17 P ero tú, cuando ayunes, unge tu cabeza y lava tu rostro,

But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,

18 p ara no mostrar a los hombres que ayunas, sino a tu Padre que está en lo secreto; y tu Padre que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará en público. Tesoros en el cielo

so that you do not appear to men to be fasting, but to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. Lay Up Treasures in Heaven

19 N o alleguéis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y el orín corroen, y donde los ladrones horadan y hurtan;

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;

20 s ino allegaos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni la polilla ni el orín corroen, y donde los ladrones no horadan ni hurtan.

but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

21 P orque donde está tu tesoro, allí estará también tu corazón. La lámpara del cuerpo

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The Lamp of the Body

22 L a lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo; así que, si tu ojo es sencillo, todo tu cuerpo estará lleno de luz;

“The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light.

23 p ero si tu ojo es maligno, todo tu cuerpo estará en tinieblas. Así que, si la luz que hay en ti es tinieblas, ¿cuán grandes no serán las tinieblas mismas? Dios y las riquezas

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! You Cannot Serve God and Riches

24 N adie puede servir a dos señores; porque o aborrecerá al uno y amará al otro, o se adherirá al uno y menospreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas. El afán y la ansiedad

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. Do Not Worry

25 P or tanto os digo: No os afanéis por vuestra vida, qué habéis de comer o qué habéis de beber; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué habéis de vestir. ¿No es la vida más que el alimento, y el cuerpo más que el vestido?

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

26 M irad las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni siegan, ni recogen en graneros; y vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No valéis vosotros mucho más que ellas?

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

27 ¿ Y quién de vosotros podrá, a fuerza de afanarse, añadir a su estatura un solo codo?

Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 ¿ Y por qué os afanáis por el vestido? Considerad los lirios del campo, cómo crecen; no se fatigan ni hilan;

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;

29 p ero os digo, que ni aun Salomón, en medio de todo su esplendor, se vistió como uno solo de ellos.

and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 P ues si a la hierba del campo, que hoy es y mañana se echa en el horno, Dios la viste así, ¿no lo hará mucho más a vosotros, hombres de poca fe?

Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 N o os afanéis, pues, diciendo: ¿Qué comeremos, o qué beberemos, o con qué nos vestiremos?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

32 P orque todas estas cosas las buscan con afán los gentiles; pues vuestro Padre celestial sabe que tenéis necesidad de todas estas cosas.

For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

33 M as buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

34 A sí que, no os afanéis por el día de mañana, porque el día de mañana traerá su propia inquietud. Le basta a cada día su propio mal.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
