1 E n el año en que murió el rey Uzías, vi yo al Señor sentado sobre un trono alto y sublime, y la orla de su manto llenaba el templo.

In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

2 P or encima de él había serafines; cada uno tenía seis alas; con dos cubrían sus rostros, con dos cubrían sus pies, y con dos volaban.

Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew.

3 Y el uno al otro daba voces, diciendo: Santo, santo, santo es Jehová de los ejércitos; toda la tierra está llena de su gloria.

And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!”

4 Y los quiciales de las puertas se estremecieron con la voz de los que clamaban, y la casa se llenó de humo.

And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke.

5 E ntonces dije: ¡Ay de mí!, que estoy muerto; porque siendo hombre inmundo de labios, y habitando en medio de un pueblo de labios inmundos, han visto mis ojos al Rey, Jehová de los ejércitos.

So I said: “Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.”

6 E ntonces voló hacia mí uno de los serafines, teniendo en su mano un carbón encendido, tomado del altar con unas tenazas;

Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar.

7 y tocando con él mi boca, dijo: He aquí que esto tocó tus labios, y es quitada tu culpa, y expiado tu pecado.

And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; Your iniquity is taken away, And your sin purged.”

8 D espués oí la voz del Señor, que decía: ¿A quién enviaré, y quién irá de nuestra parte? Entonces respondí yo: Heme aquí, envíame a mí.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”

9 Y dijo: Anda, y di a este pueblo: Oíd bien, pero no entendáis; ved por cierto, mas no comprendáis.

And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’

10 E ngruesa el corazón de este pueblo, y agrava sus oídos, y ciega sus ojos, no sea que, viendo con sus ojos, y oyendo con sus oídos, y entendiendo con su corazón, se convierta, y sea sanado.

“Make the heart of this people dull, And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears, And understand with their heart, And return and be healed.”

11 E ntonces dije yo: ¿Hasta cuándo, Señor? Y respondió él: Hasta que las ciudades estén asoladas y sin moradores, y no haya hombre en las casas, y la tierra esté hecha un desierto;

Then I said, “Lord, how long?” And He answered: “Until the cities are laid waste and without inhabitant, The houses are without a man, The land is utterly desolate,

12 h asta que Jehová haya echado lejos a los hombres, y multiplicado los lugares abandonados en medio de la tierra.

The Lord has removed men far away, And the forsaken places are many in the midst of the land.

13 Y si quedare aún en ella la décima parte, ésta volverá a ser destruida; pero como el roble y la encina, que al ser cortados aún queda un tocón, así la simiente santa será su tocón.

But yet a tenth will be in it, And will return and be for consuming, As a terebinth tree or as an oak, Whose stump remains when it is cut down. So the holy seed shall be its stump.”
