1 A conteció en Iconio que entraron juntos en la sinagoga de los judíos, y hablaron de tal manera que creyó una gran multitud, tanto de judíos, como de griegos.

Now it happened in Iconium that they went together to the synagogue of the Jews, and so spoke that a great multitude both of the Jews and of the Greeks believed.

2 M as los judíos que no creían excitaron y tornaron hostiles los ánimos de los gentiles contra los hermanos.

But the unbelieving Jews stirred up the Gentiles and poisoned their minds against the brethren.

3 P or tanto, se detuvieron allí mucho tiempo, hablando con denuedo, confiados en el Señor, el cual daba testimonio a la palabra de su gracia, concediendo que se hiciesen por medio de las manos de ellos señales y prodigios.

Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.

4 Y la gente de la ciudad estaba dividida: unos estaban con los judíos, y otros con los apóstoles.

But the multitude of the city was divided: part sided with the Jews, and part with the apostles.

5 P ero cuando los judíos y los gentiles, juntamente con sus gobernantes, se lanzaron a afrentarlos y apedrearlos,

And when a violent attempt was made by both the Gentiles and Jews, with their rulers, to abuse and stone them,

6 d ándose ellos cuenta, huyeron a las ciudades de Licaonia, a Listra y Derbe, y a toda la región circunvecina,

they became aware of it and fled to Lystra and Derbe, cities of Lycaonia, and to the surrounding region.

7 y allí se pusieron a predicar el evangelio. Pablo es apedreado en Listra

And they were preaching the gospel there. Idolatry at Lystra

8 Y había en Listra cierto hombre sentado, imposibilitado de los pies, cojo de nacimiento, que jamás había andado.

And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who had never walked.

9 É ste oyó hablar a Pablo, el cual, fijando en él sus ojos, y viendo que tenía fe para ser sanado,

This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed,

10 d ijo a gran voz: Levántate derecho sobre tus pies. Y él dio un salto y se puso a caminar.

said with a loud voice, “Stand up straight on your feet!” And he leaped and walked.

11 E ntonces la gente, visto lo que Pablo había hecho, alzó la voz, diciendo en lengua licaónica: Los dioses se han hecho semejantes a los hombres y han bajado hasta nosotros.

Now when the people saw what Paul had done, they raised their voices, saying in the Lycaonian language, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!”

12 Y llamaban a Bernabé Júpiter, y a Pablo, Mercurio, porque éste era el que dirigía la palabra.

And Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul, Hermes, because he was the chief speaker.

13 Y el sacerdote de Júpiter, cuyo templo estaba a la entrada de la ciudad, trajo toros y guirnaldas delante de las puertas, y juntamente con la muchedumbre quería ofrecer sacrificios.

Then the priest of Zeus, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, intending to sacrifice with the multitudes.

14 C uando lo oyeron los apóstoles Bernabé y Pablo, rasgaron sus ropas, y se lanzaron en medio de la multitud, dando voces

But when the apostles Barnabas and Paul heard this, they tore their clothes and ran in among the multitude, crying out

15 y diciendo: Varones, ¿por qué hacéis esto? También nosotros somos hombres de igual condición que vosotros, que os anunciamos que de estas vanidades os convirtáis al Dios vivo, que hizo el cielo y la tierra, el mar, y todo lo que en ellos hay.

and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men with the same nature as you, and preach to you that you should turn from these useless things to the living God, who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and all things that are in them,

16 E n las generaciones pasadas él ha dejado a todas las gentes andar en sus propios caminos;

who in bygone generations allowed all nations to walk in their own ways.

17 s i bien no se dejó a sí mismo sin testimonio, haciendo bien, dándonos lluvias del cielo y estaciones del año fructíferas, llenando de sustento y de alegría nuestros corazones.

Nevertheless He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

18 Y diciendo estas cosas, a duras penas lograron impedir que la multitud les ofreciese sacrificio.

And with these sayings they could scarcely restrain the multitudes from sacrificing to them. Stoning, Escape to Derbe

19 E ntonces vinieron de Antioquía y de Iconio unos judíos, que persuadieron a la multitud, y después de apedrear a Pablo, le arrastraron fuera de la ciudad, suponiendo que estaba muerto.

Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.

20 P ero rodeándole los discípulos, se levantó y entró en la ciudad; y al día siguiente salió con Bernabé para Derbe.

However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe. Strengthening the Converts

21 Y después de anunciar el evangelio a aquella ciudad y de hacer muchos discípulos, volvieron a Listra, a Iconio y a Antioquía,

And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

22 f ortaleciendo los ánimos de los discípulos, exhortándoles a que permaneciesen en la fe, y diciéndoles: Es menester que pasemos por muchas tribulaciones para entrar en el reino de Dios.

strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”

23 L es designaron ancianos en cada iglesia, y habiendo orado con ayunos, los encomendaron al Señor en quien habían creído. Regreso a Antioquía de Siria

So when they had appointed elders in every church, and prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord in whom they had believed.

24 P asando después por Pisidia, vinieron a Panfilia.

And after they had passed through Pisidia, they came to Pamphylia.

25 Y habiendo predicado la palabra en Perge, descendieron a Atalia.

Now when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia.

26 D e allí navegaron a Antioquía, desde donde habían sido encomendados a la gracia de Dios para la obra que habían cumplido.

From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work which they had completed.

27 Y habiendo llegado, y reunido a la iglesia, refirieron cuán grandes cosas había hecho Dios con ellos, y cómo había abierto la puerta de la fe a los gentiles.

Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God had done with them, and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

28 Y se quedaron allí mucho tiempo con los discípulos.

So they stayed there a long time with the disciples.
