2 G racia y paz a vosotros, de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. Pablo ora por los creyentes

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Thankfulness and Prayer

3 D oy gracias a mi Dios siempre que me acuerdo de vosotros,

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

4 r ogando siempre en todas mis oraciones con gozo por todos vosotros,

always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy,

5 p or vuestra comunión en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora;

for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now,

6 e stando persuadido de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo;

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

7 c omo me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y consolidación del evangelio, todos vosotros sois participantes conmigo de la gracia.

just as it is right for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my chains and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers with me of grace.

8 P orque Dios me es testigo de cómo os añoro a todos vosotros con el entrañable amor de Jesucristo.

For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.

9 Y esto pido en oración, que vuestro amor abunde aún más y más en conocimiento perfecto y en todo discernimiento,

And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

10 p ara que sepáis aquilatar las cosas más importantes, a fin de que seáis sinceros e irreprensibles para el día de Cristo,

that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,

11 l lenos de frutos de justicia que son por medio de Jesucristo, para gloria y alabanza de Dios. Para mí el vivir es Cristo

being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. Christ Is Preached

12 Q uiero que sepáis, hermanos, que las cosas que me han sucedido han redundado más bien para el progreso del evangelio,

But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,

13 d e tal manera que mis prisiones por la causa de Cristo se han hecho notorias en todo el pretorio, y a todos los demás.

so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;

14 Y la mayoría de los hermanos, alentados en el Señor por mis cadenas, se atreven mucho más a hablar la palabra sin temor.

and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

15 A lgunos, a la verdad, predican a Cristo por envidia y rivalidad; pero otros, de buena voluntad.

Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:

16 L os unos anuncian a Cristo por rivalidad, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción a mis prisiones;

The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;

17 p ero los otros, por amor, sabiendo que estoy puesto para la defensa del evangelio.

but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.

18 ¿ Qué, pues? Que no obstante, de todas maneras, o por pretexto o por verdad, Cristo es anunciado; y en esto me gozo, y me gozaré aún.

What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. To Live Is Christ

19 P orque sé que por vuestra oración y la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo, esto resultará en mi liberación,

For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

20 c onforme a mi anhelo y esperanza de que en nada seré avergonzado; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será magnificado Cristo en mi cuerpo, o por vida o por muerte.

according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

21 P orque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia.

For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

22 M as si el vivir en la carne resulta para mí en beneficio de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger.

But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell.

23 P orque de ambos lados me siento apremiado, teniendo deseo de partir y estar con Cristo, lo cual es muchísimo mejor;

For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

24 p ero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.

25 Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré y permaneceré con todos vosotros, para vuestro provecho y gozo de la fe,

And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,

26 p ara que abunde vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi presencia otra vez entre vosotros.

that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again. Striving and Suffering for Christ

27 S olamente que os comportéis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo, para que, o sea que vaya a veros, o que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, combatiendo unánimes por la fe del evangelio,

Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,

28 y en nada intimidados por los que se oponen, lo cual para ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas para vosotros de salvación; y esto viene de Dios.

and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

29 P orque a vosotros se os ha concedido la gracia, por amor de Cristo, no sólo de que creáis en él, sino también de que padezcáis por él,

For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

30 s osteniendo el mismo combate que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís que hay en mí.

having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
