1 T res años pasaron sin guerra entre los sirios e Israel.

Now three years passed without war between Syria and Israel.

2 Y aconteció al tercer año, que Josafat rey de Judá descendió al rey de Israel.

Then it came to pass, in the third year, that Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went down to visit the king of Israel.

3 Y el rey de Israel dijo a sus siervos: ¿No sabéis que Ramot de Galaad es nuestra, y nosotros no hemos hecho nada para tomarla de mano del rey de Siria?

And the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead is ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?”

4 Y dijo a Josafat: ¿Quieres venir conmigo a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad? Y Josafat respondió al rey de Israel: Yo soy como tú, y mi pueblo como tu pueblo, y mis caballos como tus caballos. Los falsos profetas predicen el éxito

So he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to fight at Ramoth Gilead?” Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

5 D ijo luego Josafat al rey de Israel: Yo te ruego que consultes hoy la palabra de Jehová.

Also Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire for the word of the Lord today.”

6 E ntonces el rey de Israel reunió a los profetas, como cuatrocientos hombres, a los cuales dijo: ¿Iré a la guerra contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaré? Y ellos dijeron: Sube, porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth Gilead to fight, or shall I refrain?” So they said, “Go up, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

7 Y dijo Josafat: ¿Hay aún aquí algún profeta de Jehová, por el cual consultemos?

And Jehoshaphat said, “ Is there not still a prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of Him?”

8 E l rey de Israel respondió a Josafat: Aún hay un varón por el cual podríamos consultar a Jehová, Miqueas hijo de Yimlá; mas yo le aborrezco, porque nunca me profetiza bien, sino solamente mal. Y Josafat dijo: No hable el rey así.

So the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “ There is still one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord; but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil.” And Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say such things!”

9 E ntonces el rey de Israel llamó a un oficial, y le dijo: Trae pronto a Miqueas hijo de Yimlá.

Then the king of Israel called an officer and said, “Bring Micaiah the son of Imlah quickly!”

10 Y el rey de Israel y Josafat rey de Judá estaban sentados cada uno en su silla, vestidos de sus ropas reales, en la plaza junto a la entrada de la puerta de Samaria; y todos los profetas profetizaban delante de ellos.

The king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, having put on their robes, sat each on his throne, at a threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets prophesied before them.

11 Y Sedequías hijo de Quenaaná se había hecho unos cuernos de hierro, y dijo: Así ha dicho Jehová: Con éstos acornearás a los sirios hasta acabarlos.

Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah had made horns of iron for himself; and he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘With these you shall gore the Syrians until they are destroyed.’”

12 Y todos los profetas profetizaban de la misma manera, diciendo: Sube a Ramot de Galaad, y serás prosperado; porque Jehová la entregará en mano del rey. El profeta Miqueas predice el fracaso

And all the prophets prophesied so, saying, “Go up to Ramoth Gilead and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the king’s hand.”

13 Y el mensajero que había ido a llamar a Miqueas, le habló diciendo: He aquí que las palabras de los profetas a una voz anuncian al rey cosas buenas; sea ahora tu palabra conforme a la palabra de alguno de ellos, y anuncia también buen éxito.

Then the messenger who had gone to call Micaiah spoke to him, saying, “Now listen, the words of the prophets with one accord encourage the king. Please, let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak encouragement.”

14 Y Miqueas respondió: Vive Jehová, que lo que Jehová me hable, eso diré.

And Micaiah said, “ As the Lord lives, whatever the Lord says to me, that I will speak.”

15 V ino, pues, al rey, y el rey le dijo: Miqueas, ¿iremos a pelear contra Ramot de Galaad, o la dejaremos? Él le respondió: Sube, y serás prosperado, y Jehová la entregará en mano del rey.

Then he came to the king; and the king said to him, “Micaiah, shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall we refrain?” And he answered him, “Go and prosper, for the Lord will deliver it into the hand of the king!”

16 Y el rey le dijo: ¿Hasta cuántas veces he de exigirte que no me digas sino la verdad en el nombre de Jehová?

So the king said to him, “How many times shall I make you swear that you tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the Lord ?”

17 E ntonces él dijo: Yo vi a todo Israel esparcido por los montes, como ovejas que no tienen pastor; y Jehová dijo: Éstos no tienen señor; vuélvase cada uno a su casa en paz.

Then he said, “I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd. And the Lord said, ‘These have no master. Let each return to his house in peace.’”

18 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: ¿No te lo había yo dicho? Ninguna cosa buena profetizará él acerca de mí, sino solamente el mal.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “Did I not tell you he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?”

19 E ntonces él dijo: Oye, pues, palabra de Jehová: Yo vi a Jehová sentado en su trono, y todo el ejército de los cielos estaba junto a él, a su derecha y a su izquierda.

Then Micaiah said, “Therefore hear the word of the Lord: I saw the Lord sitting on His throne, and all the host of heaven standing by, on His right hand and on His left.

20 Y Jehová dijo: ¿Quién inducirá a Acab, para que suba y caiga en Ramot de Galaad? Y uno decía de una manera, y otro decía de otra.

And the Lord said, ‘Who will persuade Ahab to go up, that he may fall at Ramoth Gilead?’ So one spoke in this manner, and another spoke in that manner.

21 Y salió un espíritu y se puso delante de Jehová, y dijo: Yo le induciré. Y Jehová le dijo: ¿De qué manera?

Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord, and said, ‘I will persuade him.’

22 É l dijo: Yo saldré, y seré espíritu de mentira en boca de todos sus profetas. Y él dijo: Le inducirás, y aun lo conseguirás; ve, pues, y hazlo así.

The Lord said to him, ‘In what way?’ So he said, ‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And the Lord said, ‘You shall persuade him, and also prevail. Go out and do so.’

23 Y ahora, he aquí Jehová ha puesto espíritu de mentira en la boca de todos tus profetas, y Jehová ha decretado el mal acerca de ti.

Therefore look! The Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these prophets of yours, and the Lord has declared disaster against you.”

24 E ntonces se acercó Sedequías hijo de Quenaaná y golpeó a Miqueas en la mejilla, diciendo: ¿Por dónde se fue de mí el Espíritu de Jehová para hablarte a ti?

Now Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah went near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, “Which way did the spirit from the Lord go from me to speak to you?”

25 Y Miqueas respondió: He aquí tú lo verás en aquel día, cuando te irás metiendo de aposento en aposento para esconderte.

And Micaiah said, “Indeed, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide!”

26 E ntonces el rey de Israel dijo: Toma a Miqueas, y llévalo a Amón gobernador de la ciudad, y a Joás hijo del rey;

So the king of Israel said, “Take Micaiah, and return him to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son;

27 y dirás: Así ha dicho el rey: Echad a éste en la cárcel, y mantenedle con pan de angustia y con agua de aflicción, hasta que yo vuelva en paz.

and say, ‘Thus says the king: “Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and water of affliction, until I come in peace.”’”

28 Y dijo Miqueas: Si llegas a volver en paz, Jehová no ha hablado por mí. En seguida dijo: Oíd, pueblos todos.

But Micaiah said, “If you ever return in peace, the Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, “Take heed, all you people!” Ahab Dies in Battle

29 S ubió, pues, el rey de Israel con Josafat rey de Judá a Ramot de Galaad.

So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth Gilead.

30 Y el rey de Israel dijo a Josafat: Yo me disfrazaré, y entraré en la batalla; y tú ponte tus vestidos. Y el rey de Israel se disfrazó, y entró en la batalla.

And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “I will disguise myself and go into battle; but you put on your robes.” So the king of Israel disguised himself and went into battle.

31 M as el rey de Siria había mandado a sus treinta y dos capitanes de los carros, diciendo: No peleéis ni con grande ni con chico, sino sólo contra el rey de Israel.

Now the king of Syria had commanded the thirty-two captains of his chariots, saying, “Fight with no one small or great, but only with the king of Israel.”

32 C uando los capitanes de los carros vieron a Josafat, dijeron: Ciertamente éste es el rey de Israel; y vinieron contra él para pelear con él; mas el rey Josafat gritó.

So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel!” Therefore they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out.

33 V iendo entonces los capitanes de los carros que no era el rey de Israel, se apartaron de él.

And it happened, when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, that they turned back from pursuing him.

34 Y un hombre disparó su arco a la ventura e hirió al rey de Israel por entre las junturas de la armadura, por lo que dijo él a su cochero: Da la vuelta, y sácame del campo, pues estoy herido.

Now a certain man drew a bow at random, and struck the king of Israel between the joints of his armor. So he said to the driver of his chariot, “Turn around and take me out of the battle, for I am wounded.”

35 P ero la batalla había arreciado aquel día, y el rey estuvo en su carro delante de los sirios, y a la tarde murió; y la sangre de la herida corría por el fondo del carro.

The battle increased that day; and the king was propped up in his chariot, facing the Syrians, and died at evening. The blood ran out from the wound onto the floor of the chariot.

36 Y a la puesta del sol salió un pregón por el campamento, diciendo: ¡Cada uno a su ciudad, y cada cual a su tierra!

Then, as the sun was going down, a shout went throughout the army, saying, “Every man to his city, and every man to his own country!”

37 M urió, pues, el rey, y fue traído a Samaria; y sepultaron al rey en Samaria.

So the king died, and was brought to Samaria. And they buried the king in Samaria.

38 Y lavaron el carro en el estanque de Samaria; y los perros lamieron su sangre; y también lavaron su armadura, conforme a la palabra que Jehová había hablado.

Then someone washed the chariot at a pool in Samaria, and the dogs licked up his blood while the harlots bathed, according to the word of the Lord which He had spoken.

39 E l resto de los hechos de Acab, y todo lo que hizo, y la casa de marfil que construyó, y todas las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Ahab, and all that he did, the ivory house which he built and all the cities that he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

40 Y durmió Acab con sus padres, y reinó en su lugar Ocozías su hijo. Reinado de Josafat

So Ahab rested with his fathers. Then Ahaziah his son reigned in his place. Jehoshaphat Reigns in Judah

41 J osafat hijo de Asá comenzó a reinar sobre Judá en el cuarto año de Acab rey de Israel.

Jehoshaphat the son of Asa had become king over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

42 E ra Josafat de treinta y cinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó veinticinco años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Azubá hija de Silhí.

Jehoshaphat was thirty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Azubah the daughter of Shilhi.

43 Y anduvo en todo el camino de Asá su padre, sin desviarse de él, haciendo lo recto ante los ojos de Jehová. Con todo eso, los lugares altos no fueron quitados; porque el pueblo sacrificaba aún, y quemaba incienso en ellos.

And he walked in all the ways of his father Asa. He did not turn aside from them, doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord. Nevertheless the high places were not taken away, for the people offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places.

44 Y Josafat hizo paz con el rey de Israel.

Also Jehoshaphat made peace with the king of Israel.

45 L os demás hechos de Josafat, y sus hazañas, y las guerras que hizo, ¿no están escritos en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Jehoshaphat, the might that he showed, and how he made war, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

46 B arrió también de la tierra el resto de los sodomitas que había quedado en el tiempo de su padre Asá.

And the rest of the perverted persons, who remained in the days of his father Asa, he banished from the land.

47 N o había entonces rey en Edom; había gobernador en lugar de rey.

There was then no king in Edom, only a deputy of the king.

48 J osafat había hecho naves de Tarsis, las cuales habían de ir a Ofir por oro; mas no fueron, porque se rompieron en Ezyón-géber.

Jehoshaphat made merchant ships to go to Ophir for gold; but they never sailed, for the ships were wrecked at Ezion Geber.

49 E ntonces Ocozías hijo de Acab dijo a Josafat: Vayan mis siervos con los tuyos en las naves. Mas Josafat no quiso.

Then Ahaziah the son of Ahab said to Jehoshaphat, “Let my servants go with your servants in the ships.” But Jehoshaphat would not.

50 Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David su padre; y en su lugar reinó Joram su hijo. Reinado de Ocozías de Israel

And Jehoshaphat rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. Then Jehoram his son reigned in his place. Ahaziah Reigns in Israel

51 O cozías hijo de Acab comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en Samaria, el año diecisiete de Josafat rey de Judá; y reinó dos años sobre Israel.

Ahaziah the son of Ahab became king over Israel in Samaria in the seventeenth year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned two years over Israel.

52 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos de Jehová, y anduvo en el camino de su padre, y en el camino de su madre, y en el camino de Jeroboam hijo de Nebat, que hizo pecar a Israel;

He did evil in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the way of his father and in the way of his mother and in the way of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who had made Israel sin;

53 p orque sirvió a Baal, y lo adoró, y provocó a ira a Jehová Dios de Israel, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho su padre.

for he served Baal and worshiped him, and provoked the Lord God of Israel to anger, according to all that his father had done.
